Bradley Convissar (bconvisdmd) | 8 comments My name is Brad and I belong to that most reviled group, hated more than the Taliban and trial lawyers. Yes, I am a dentist.
Do I get off on sticking needles in people? You betcha'. Sometimes. But seriously, I really do enjoy taking out teeth.
Anyway, like everyone here, I am an avid reader, mostly horror, thrillers and fantasy. Favorite books? American Gods by the Sandman himself, Gaiman, and Weaveworld, a perfect blend of horror and fantasy by Barker, and The War of the Flowers, by Tad Williams.
I like to consider myself an author, though, for better or for worse, I have another profession. I write horror.
I currently have a two short story collection out, both of them dental themed, which is a weird stroke of coincidence since they are my ONLY two dental stories out of the 2 dozen I am editing. I like real horror. No vampire soap operas or zombie bloodbaths. I've read my share of these, but am not interested in writing them.
So if you're interested in checking out my style and stories, check out Pandora's Children Book 1: In the Chair. I have decided to release several short story collections before my first novel because I like the idea of easing readers into my style and my brain.
So check me out- occasionally I will be posting original short stories to my profile/blog/whatever for free consumption under the writings section. By The Teeth of His Skin coming soon.
And you can also read about my barely controlled diabetic daschund and that morning men came to my apartment in biohazard suits.
Thanks for your time, friends.
Being seeing you in the chair

Carla (Lovnwrittenword) | 2 comments Hi everyone, I'm Carla. I am an avid reader of everything I can get my hands on. Mom of two (teen and pre teen), one of each. I volunteer within my community, especially working with seniors on a social level. Before my children and when they were younger I had a few things published and I can feel the call inside wanting to be expressed once again. Thanks for this group.

Is this group open only to authors who have won awards, or may others view it? I've entered several contests, but won't have results til next year.

Feedback, anyone?

You may like the new interview with the young British author, Jack Hessey, posted at http://brinson1.wordpress.com Jack writes in a genre that I didn't know until a couple of months ago: Steampunk.

Eilee | 1 comments Hi, I'm Eilee, I just started "reading" books on CD 2 years ago. I travel quite a bit by car and needed something to entertain me as I made the long trips. I love mystery/thrillers/suspense. My favorite have been the Myron Bolitar books by Harlan Cobin. I am looking to find another author that keeps me listening even after I reach my destination. Anyone have any suggestions?

message 671: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Foster (melissa_foster) | 84 comments Megan's Way is available on Kindle, but it's not mystery. Have you tried the Stephen King novels? My husband and son love them!

message 672: by Susanna (new)

Susanna | 13 comments Hi Eilee, I love Myron Bolitar, too! Good mysteries with humor! If you like mystery series about a character, how about Michel Connelly's Harry Bosch series? I also LOVE Elizabeth George - Inspector Thomas Lynley is her main character - tons of great books in that series. Or, for something older, Ellis Peters's Brother Cadfael series.

Pradeep Thakur (pradeepthakur) | 6 comments MADONNA: The World’s Most Powerful Musician

Madonna entertained, inspired, provoked, astonished, and outraged for more than 20 years, and her achievements are legendary. Madonna Louise Ciccone is one of the best-selling recording artists of all time with sales of more than 200 million records that have helped to net her a fortune somewhere in the region of $400 million. While many of her contemporaries have faded into the background, the global icon and all-conquering brand is currently on her 11th studio album Hard Candy. The Forbes magazine ranked her World’s Most Powerful Musician her annual earning (June 2008 to June 2009) was estimated US $110 million. At 52 years of age she is as relevant and as powerful as she ever was. But, the Queen of Pop is neither a great singer nor a great dancer; the charts are littered with dozens of performers who are more talented than she is. So, just what is it that has kept her at the top for so long?

message 681: by Pradeep (new)

Pradeep Thakur (pradeepthakur) | 6 comments TIGER WOODS: Glory to Disgrace to Glory!

Tiger Woods' fall from global sports icon to tabloid fodder was stunning. He saw Accenture, AT&T and Pepsi drop him as a pitchman, but he remains the highest-paid athlete in the world thanks to huge deals with Nike, Electronic Arts and Upper Deck. Nike built a $650 million (sales) golf business from scratch on Woods' back. His fledgling golf course design business has been hurt by the economic downturn, as all three courses he's worked on have experienced major delays. But still, Tiger Woods tops the list of athletes in the Forbes-2010 annual ranking of the most powerful people in entertainment. His achievements to date rank him among the most successful golfers of all time. Currently the World No. 1, he was the highest-paid professional athlete in 2008, having earned an estimated $110 million from winnings and endorsements…and in 2009 his estimated annual earning was $105 million, even after his hardest period of personal and professional struggle.

Kriss Perras (kriss-perras) | 12 comments Hi All,

I am Kriss Perras Running Waters. I have loved science fiction since I was little. I grew up on the original Star Trek when it first came out, because my Dad was a Star Trek fan. We watched each episode. (I am 44 years old).

I currently own the independent story development and film production company Running Waters Productions. I am the previous Publisher and Editor of Malibu Arts Journal and PCH Press (Malibu's daily newspaper) and am a 2002 member of the prestigious American National Honor Society Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges. 300 Nights marks my first novel in a saga of four science fiction books: 300 Nights, Fard Ayn, Exile and Holo. I previously worked for a well-known development firm in Hollywood where I learned the craft of story development, a trade I enjoy and find highly gratifying. So I am a screenwriter, author and director. Plus I love photography. I had the privildge of being a showcased artist on the CMTV Chanel 14 Artists Showcase in my area for photographers. I also love poetry.

The 300 Nights preview is here: http://novel.300-nights.com

Again nice to meet everyone,
Kriss Perras Running Waters

After The Unicorn kills her partner, DI Lorne Simpkins knows if she doesn't bring the underworld criminal to justice soon, she will be his next target.

It's a race against time, she has a 24 hour deadline to meet before her kidnapped daughter is used as a human bomb by the Unicorn.

My first published novel, The Celtic Dagger, was released by New Holland Publishers in October 2010. It's a murder/myster set mostly in Sydney, Australia and about the death of a professor in his study at the university. It features Detective Chief Inspector Fitzjohn and is the first in a series. You will find the synopsis and prologue on my Goodreads page and also on my website at http://www.jillpaterson.com

Dannis Cole (danniscole) | 7 comments Hi! I'm Dannis and I write science fiction. I'm also disabled and not able to check my online memberships much, so I direct everyone to my website to see what I'm doing. My health has definitely interfered with my ability to update my site, but when I use the Internet, I try to post an update to my Facebook and other main pages via Yoono, an addon to my Firefox. This is why I self publish, because my health limits me so, and I can market at my own pace. Otherwise, my novels and stories might not even meet with a reader. Comments welcome on the excerpts I've posted. On Facebook or MySpace, or wherever, I am either searchable by dannistories or Dannis Cole. My intro is too long, but I am happy to join your group. I hope some of you readers might be curious to join Adia on her journey to understand a totally new culture...and learn how to save a known universe.
