Shannon Pemrick | 55 comments Hi everyone! I'm Shannon, I'm in my early twenties, a graphic designer full-time, and I'm a recent self published author located in The Northeast corner of the US, and by recent, I just published my first book in December after 5 long years of writing, crying, sighing, and every other emotional state you can go through while developing a our kinds of art.

I enjoy books in the Fantasy, Urban fantasy, Science fiction, and Romance genres as well as anything the incorporates those four and my writing reflects this.

Experimental Heart: Pieces is my recently published book that is the first in its series that falls under the Urban Science Fantasy genre. It has strong, believable characters, a strong female main protagonist, war and rebellion, self discovery, and other captivating themes that help create a captivating story.

I'm a very introverted person so I'm hoping joining a group like this will bring me out and we can all get along and enjoy books together. If I can't be brought out, I'l just do a lot of lurking.

Hi Jason; it is great to see some aboriginal content in North American literature. I am Alan Buick, originally from New Zealand, living in Canada and working for the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies as a carpentry instructor. I'm also a writer, musician, poet. During the 1950s my Uncle Bob owned a 32,000 acre high country station, (ranch). He hired a manager by the name of Johnny Sunbeam, best horse wrangler ever! he was a North American Indian and I asked my sister-in-law's ex, a Cree University Professor and the First Nations University in Regina, where Johnny might be from on this great continent. He was sure the name Sunbeam was Navajo. I was wondering if you could either confirm or deny that assumption. My brothers and I were just kids then but he sure made an impression on us. He may have been a wind talker and stayed in New Zealand after WW2.

message 6511: by Brandon (new)

Brandon | 22 comments Hello all, My name is Brandon Gene Petit. I am an indie author of poetry and poetic prose, although I am gradually branching out into other ventures like story-writing and children's illustration.

I have two collections of prose-poetry and verse out under my own indie publishing label, as well as a collection of earlier poems released under another publisher which I am going to pull soon and re-release under my own label. I am also actively working on a coloring book for kids comprised entirely of my own comical dinosaur sketches.

When it comes to poetry and writing, I am often guilty of waiting for inspiration to come along instead of disciplining myself on a routine basis... still, it doesn't take long for inspiration to come, because I've somehow ended up with over 200 poems and pieces of prose (and counting).

On a personal note, I am so deeply moved by dreams and feelings of deja vu that I've sometimes thought I might be a little bit nuts. But what artist/writer isn't? Hopefully there are many of you out there who can relate to some degree... whether you are an author or a reader.

Roger Owen Bishop (rogertheriter) | 12 comments Good morning/evening/afternoon

dependant of course on your geographical situation. Mt personal one is in Ireland, although I am not Irish. I came here over a decade ago in search of something indefinable and lo and behold I discovered it.
My latest traditionally published novel UNHOLY ORDERS is available worldwide in paperback as well as in e-digital format.

It is a fact based novel concerning the misadventures of the protagonist within the hallowed corridors of the Church of England. Do not be fooled into thinking it is just another religious "Whistleblower" book about naughty priests though, as it is far more than just this.

Attempts were made to even prevent its release in the UK. Resulting in a High Court action to try and prevent its publication. Fortunately this failed, and you can discover for yourself the reasons behind it, by either clicking the link to my blog, or by buying the book for yourself

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 295 comments Hello, I'm Anna Faversham, and I have always loved books and writing from a very young age.

Hide in Time is my first ebook and it is a time travel romance set in England in 2009 and 1814.

Have you ever regretted something and wished you could put it right? I once read that it is the things we haven't done that we regret most on our death bed! Yes, there may come a time when we wish we had travelled more but, apparently, a lot of people wish they had spent more time with friends and family and told them that they love them.

Laura was in that situation when she stormed off from her betrothed. It was an action she regretted until she could put it right. Bit difficult to do that when she found herself nearly two hundred years away from him.

If you read Hide in Time, I hope you will enjoy it.

Hello. My name is Shakuita Johnson. I am an avid reader and published my first novel in Dec. 2013. I read anything paranormal, some thriller, romance, a bit of non-fiction, and just about anything that sounds good I'll try. My novel is paranormal romance/thriller and some might say a bit of erotica thrown in the mix. I'm from Mississippi and currently a student studying Psychology while fighting for my country for the next 4 months. Then it's off to Boston for Grad school and a new chapter in my life ;) I am also a blogger. I started it over a year ago but have recently been very active. I am writing the second book in my current series and have many other ideas flowing around. I look forward to interacting with everyone!

Jonathan Isaacs | 30 comments Hello all,

I am fairly new to goodreads and keep trolling through the groups as a result, trying to see what's out there. I found this one and just realized I've been reading everyone's posts for over an hour. Way cool of a community!

I have been writing for a while (lots of time on airplanes for work) but just published my first novel, Armchair Safari. A former Marine races hackers, gamers, and the FBI to recover money stolen from a massive online game.

Weirdly, Target got hacked just a few weeks after I started selling. I swear it was coincidental.

Not out that long but some good reviews on Amazon so enough to keep me going!

Glad to be here!

Robin Juliet (authorrobinjuliet) | 6 comments With nearly twenty years of college level teaching, and a PhD in English Education, I have the kind of background and credentials to write “real” literature, but I prefer to focus on the juicy stuff: “Nothing fascinates me more than figuring out what happens when lust and love collide.”

My fiction is a cross between erotica and contemporary romance—almost—I like to surprise readers as I twist happily ever after beyond recognition. My characters have sex with each other and then have to deal with the fall-out that inevitably occurs when you give yourself over to strangers.

My new book, Trouble, is a science experiment where I flesh out what happens from mixing character A with character B and turning the oven on high. I don't set out to write about my characters' sex lives, but I just find that when they do have sex, there's a more realistic conflict.

Zack Love (zacklove) Hi Everyone! I'm Zack Love and I'm here to crack you up with sexy laughs and prove to you that MEN DO EXIST in this book world. And even though I'm the token male here, I'm working hard at some affirmative action, which basically entails getting lots of women to buy my book. And girls, let me tell you: there is no greater pleasure than getting clicks from chicks. And to that end, I'd like to direct you to the only review I have ever posted on Goodreads. It is a raving, five-star review. Of my own book. But it's extremely objective. I actually had to restrain myself when writing it. Check it out: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Andrew Chapin (andrew_chapin) | 12 comments Hey, all, my name is Andrew Chapin, and I'm a middle school English teacher in New Rochelle, NY and the co-author of the recently published FROM TRAGEDY TO TRIUMPH.

Amputated up to his hipbones and told he would never walk again, John Tartaglio would not give up on life. Instead, he rose to do what others said he could not. Walking, running, competing, but most importantly living, he proved to them what he had always known - his disability did not define him; he defined his disability.

Published on December 30, 2013, FROM TRAGEDY TO TRIUMPH is currently available in paperback and Kindle on amazon.com. It will be available on Nook, Kobo, and other e-book formats shortly.

John and I are also available for interviews and Q&A sessions. Message me for details.

J.h. Coates | 8 comments Hello, my name is J.H. Coates.
I first joined Goodreads because that is what a bunch of websites told me I should do. I released my first novel, “My Boyfriend is a MONSTER”, in December. I received a not so great review here on this site that made me go back and check my work. It seems in my excitement of publishing my book, I uploaded the 2nd edit (it went through 2 more). Being Independent and having already read my book 50,000 times now, I was just too excited and uploaded the wrong file. Taking a quick glance it looked fine and off I went, off I went and got a bad review.

But that review was a blessing, it made me go back and check my book, and it could have been a lot worse. It could have been months from now after a bunch of .99 cent sales or free promos. Needless to say, this site and its members are great, and I plan on being a lot more involved with it.

So, the new and improved, My Boyfriend is a MONSTER (2nd Edition) is now available. Like the tag line says: A Horrifyingly Romantic Novel. But this time the horrifying part is the actual story line, not so much the writing.

Thank You, J.H. Coates

I published my memoir Miracles and Grace in an Unlikely Place in April of 2013. It is the story of a Christian woman, married to a recovering alcoholic who owns and runs a world famous biker bar. As a bar owner it is tough to carve out time to write (that's why it took seven years to write it). Writing is my passion and one day I hope to do it full time. I love reading and usually read at least two books at a time. I have two blogs, one for the bar and one for my writing and would love to hear your comments.

Nicholas Tanek (nicholastanek) | 4 comments The Coolest Way to Kill Yourself

Hello,

My name is Nicholas Tanek and I wrote The Coolest Way to Kill Yourself. This memoir is a tribute to the love of my life who passed away at the young age of 37. It is an unconventional romance filled with kinky sex, hard drugs, and endless music references.

Interview with Rutgers University's RUckmakers
http://www.ruckmakers.com/coolest-way...

Amazon reviews:
http://www.amazon.com/The-Coolest-Way...

The back cover:
Okay. So no one actually kills themselves in this book.

The Coolest Way to Kill Yourself pulls you into the early 90's New York City rave scene, in all its chaotic, psychedelic glory. The narrator grabs you by your wrist and drags you behind two teenage lovers from New Jersey as they tumble through a whirlwind of reckless hedonism that eventually spirals into a dark, devastating world of drug addiction and heartbreak. As a teenager, Lynn cried, "No one is ever going to write something for me."

Nearly two decades later, in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Nicholas did just that. The gesture came too late for our unlikely heroine, but his heart was in the right place. A broken heart... but a true love. Reunited after years apart, Lynn and Nicholas embraced their love and sexuality, and embraced each other, despite troubled pasts, despite illness, despite all of their imperfections and mistakes. They shared the kind of honest and shameless connection that few have had the honor of knowing, and most would never understand.

"We're not hurting anyone. We're just living life without caring what anyone thinks about us."
"It's the coolest way to kill ourselves," Lynn said.

So turn the page, and pull the trigger.

What some people are saying...

"I used to think that I was a fairly liberal and open-minded person. But this world is truly a world outside my comprehension and comfort zone." - my sister-in-law.

"This will never be published." - my ex-wife.

"Are you crazy? I can't believe you are publishing this." - most of my friends.

"I love the fact that you are publishing this." - most of my cool friends.

"You have disgraced me." - my mother.

"Why is your mother so angry about your book? Make sure you shovel the snow from the driveway." - my father.
