Bo Hoefinger | 4 comments Hey Shawn..thanks for the book add. Also, noted you are going to be at the Decatur Book Fair, very cool. I live just outside Atlanta and will try and stop by.

I read your background and saw you've been writing for quite a while. I actually wrote the book as a x-mas gift for my mom back in 2006. Okay, I had a little help from dad since it's not easy typing with these oversized paws I possess. Mom thought it was so cute and funny she sent it out to literary agents and in 2007 signed on with Irene Goodman, then in 2008 I put paw to paper on a contract with Kensington Books.

It's nice to have found this group to connect with other authors, new and experienced. Human and canine...

Let's get this clear right away: I'm a dog.

I'm 1'10" and weigh 63 lbs, and although I'm a mutt on the outside, I'm a purebred on the inside. My good nature comes from the Golden Retriever side of the family, while my stubbornness is clearly from my Chowchow bloodlines. I've got Rastafarian ears, a black tongue for licking, and paws that should be on a dog twice my size.

I type 60 words a minute.

My name is Bo, and this is my story.

If anyone wants to check out my author site it's at http://www.badtothebonememoir.com.

Woof!

Helen Smith (emperorsclothes) Hello I have been a member of Goodreads (and this group) for some time but I don't think I have introduced myself yet.

I'm an author. I write novels and plays and I live in London. Two of my books are Alison Wonderland and Being Light, both first published by Gollancz about ten years ago. I have a blog. Please come and say hello!

I love reading and I'm always interested in book recommendations. I have just finished The City & The City. Before that I read The Princess Bride because several people had recommended it to me. Now I'm reading Hawksmoor.

Kevin Breaux (kevinbreaux) | 3 comments Hi, I'm Kevin James Breaux, an award-winning author and artist. I am a member of the Horror Writers Assoc. and the Erotic Authors Assoc. Along with having many short stories published my debut novel, SOUL BORN, an epic fantasy, will be released 11/2010.

Here is the back cover blurb for SOUL BORN.

All Opal wanted was to be respected as a wielder of magic, but her teachers passed her over time and time again. When a mysterious warlord embarks on a conquest to destroy the lands of Illyia Opal seizes an opportunity to step out from the shadows of her instructors and take her rightful spot among them.

Tala, an alluring young elf, was banished from her tribe, hunted and nearly killed by the beasts that dwell in the deep forests, but more than anything else she is a survivor. Joining forces with an ancient elemental power Tala finds herself in the center of an unrelenting human war.

Flesh like leather and bone as strong as steel Karn, a veteran from the first kingdom to fall, is fueled by vengeance. While pushing ever headlong into battle Karn begins to recall memories of another life; ghosts that haunt his dreams.

Through death of soul, their world is born.

Thanks!!!!

S.L. (sabby34) Hi I'm Sabrina, 34, mom, married, Canadian.
I am a huge fan of books reading and writing.
I am in the process of finding an agent right now. finding is mild to say the least. So far after a year, only 3 bites but still not offers. Right now I am reading the series The Immortals by Alyson Noel. It's pretty good, quarter of the way through the last book.
I am a fan of all supernatural stories and I really enjoy writing. My first novel is called -Immortal Island - Spellbound, which is the one I am currently seeking representation for. I have posted a preview of my book on my page.
I add anyone who has the same interests as me whether writing or reading, and i strik up the odd conversation about a book i am reading when someone comments.

Cheers, glad to be here.
Sabrina

Hello, Sabrina,

John Lathrop here, author of The Desert Contract and The End of the Monsoon. I read that you're looking for represenation, and I thought I'd give you my two bits of advice--what worked for me.

I looked for agents or an agent who was the agent of some of my favorite authors--and I found two. The first was a total loss, but the second--much classier in every way--was a big hit. I know it's not new advice, bit it's advice that worked for me.

Good luck!

Jan Hurst-Nicholson (janhurst-nicholson) | 271 comments Howzit. I’m Jan from Durban, South Africa. I’m an author who gets writer’s block when having to register and learn all the ins, outs and rules on a new website. I need a small child to guide me on how to link my books. I’m going to try listing my books in the appropriate category, but ‘Something to Read on the Plane’ is a compilation of my humorous articles, short stories, malapropisms, agony aunt column, a quiz and some Limericks. Would it be ok to list it under humour and travel? (makes a great gift, too!)

Jonathan (jonathan_maberry) | 11 comments Hi…I’m Jonathan Maberry, a NY Times bestselling author and Marvel Comics writer. My first YA novel just hit the bookstores: ROT & RUIN (Simon & Schuster, hardcover). My website is also my blog (www.jonathanmaberry.com) and I use it to interview my fellow authors (everyone from John Saul and Jonathan Kellerman to Carrie Ryan and James Rollins).

I look forward to joining this community and getting to know you folks.

For those interested, here’s the info on ROT & RUIN:

In the zombie-infested world Benny has grown up in, every teenager must work once they turn fifteen—or they'll lose their food rations. Benny isn't interested in taking on the family business, but he reluctantly agrees to train as a zombie killer with his boring big brother, Tom. He expects a dull job, whacking zombies for cash. What he discovers is a vocation that will teach him what it really means to be human.
As Benny's worldview is challenged again and again by the lessons he learns from Tom, he is forced to confront another horrifying reality: sometimes, the most terrible monsters are the human ones.

Critically acclaimed author Jonathan Maberry crafts a terrifying future vision of the zombie apocalypse, brought to life through the rich emotional struggles of a teenager trying to find his place in a tumultuous new world.

Praise for….. RUIN & RUIN:

"…an action-packed, thought-provoking look at life—and death." --Kirkus Book Review
