Edward Iwata | 10 comments Hello, newbie here. It’s great to see this passionate community of authors and readers. It makes me hopeful for the future of digital and traditional publishing. I wish everyone good luck.

I’m a reformed writer & journalist rediscovering the power and grace of words. After penning countless gloom-and-doom news stories over the years, I’m devoting my life now to writings that uplift. In that spirit, I’ve launched THE BILLIONAIRE'S GIFT, my debut fiction:

“In a universal tale of hope and redemption, The Billionaire’s Gift explores a CEO’s quest for a greater purpose in life than the unending pursuit of earthly goods. When his health fails, the billionaire receives guidance and comfort from his dutiful secretary. Yet, one callous act by the tycoon tests her loyalty like never before. As the billionaire faces death, will his secretary find her belief renewed in him? And will a man of extraordinary wealth become a man of extraordinary faith?”

Nancy Hartwell | 40 comments Hi everybody, I write books about human trafficking, a topic I have been researching ever since a German friend of mine disappeared and it later became known that she had been sold into a sultan's harem. That really spooked me! My first book has recently appeared on amazon.com and the second one is a few weeks away from release. I do not exaggerate, I do not sensationalize, I do not write inflammatory prose. I just say, Here's what happened, and hope that people will be outraged. The first book is called Harem Slave: One Thousand Nine Hundred and Four days of Hell on the Persian Gulf, and the second is Prince Ibrahim's Favorite: Voices from the Harem. They are great reads and an eye-opening look at what really happens to girls who disappear.

Brenda Rowell | 2 comments Hello everyone, My name is Brenda. My sister and I wrote our first Book "Rainbow's End" under the pen name JB Bonds. We self published our book and my brain is swirling from all the social media marketing I am learning. We are both in our 60's and would never have thought we would write a book. Rainbow's End is Fiction/Humor about 2 sisters in there 70's that are widowed and live in Rainbow's End on Pelican Key. We have incorporated true funny stories that have happened to us on "girls trips". We changed the names to protect the innocent. You can check us out at our website http://jbbonds.com/

Matt Langford | 3 comments Hi,
My name is Matt Langford and I'm a 39 years old writer. After years of half-hearted attempts at publishing via the traditional route I've finally found some success through the internet. My novel The Watchman is currently selling on average 50 copies per month and the feedback has been phenonemal.
I'm based in Devon and hope to release further titles this year.

My name is Tanya Sousa, and I'm a children's picture book author (published through Radiant Hen Publishing). I've also published essays, short fiction, short creative non-fiction (in places such as Chicken Soup for the Soul books and the "A Cup of Comfort" anthology series) and magazine articles. I've read through the latest introductions and am looking forward to learning more about as many of you as I can! One person said, "I'm just a reader" PSHAW!!!! Without readers there would be no writers. We are all both, and both are vital. :-)

message 5365: by Elaine (new)

Elaine White Hi, I’m Elaine White. I’m an author and I’ve just had my first novel published. It’s a paranormal romance about vampires, called Runaway Girl. It is the first in a six part series that also delves into witches, a magical island, and werewolves (or lycans as they are referred in the books). You can contact me on my Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/elainewhite.... or on my blog - http://ellelainey.wordpress.com/.

I'm a book-a-holic. I love reading. Being disable and having bad health makes reading even more enjoyable for me, because in a book I can do all the things I can't in real life. I think that's why I started writing my own stories. I do, however have a tendency to drop off the grid for a while, because of my health, so apologies if messages don't get answered right away, or if I'm a bit non-existent in the group now and then.

Kathryn Guare Hi Everyone. My name is Kathryn Guare and I was so pleased to find this group. I’ve recently published my first novel,Deceptive Cadence: The Virtuosic Spy -- Book One the first book in a character-driven mystery/suspense series called “The Virtuosic Spy”. It features Conor McBride, an Irish musician turned reluctant undercover operative, and the hair-raising adventures that spin him across the globe.

I'm Irish-American myself, now residing in Vermont where I grew up after living in Boston for a while, and I worked for many years in the global health field. Right now I'm a bartender (did I mention I'm Irish-American?) and I’ve just finished the first draft of the second book in the series.

Looking forward to perusing all the discussions here and participating. Vincent, the cover photo for the group is spectacular. That reeled me in as much as anything else!

C.M.J. Wallace | 193 comments Hi. I'm C.M.J. Wallace, and I write genre-bending epic fantasy but--oddly enough--rarely read fantasy. I like everything from Stephen R. Donaldson to Tom Clancy, and I wish that Thomas Harris would discover that he wants to be a wee bit more prolific.

I'm a freelance medical editor and started writing a fantasy series, Rift, in 2008 (yeah, I just can't get enough of sitting at a computer). Books 1 and 2, Sing the Midnight Stars and Flight of Shadows, are published, and book 3, This Darkling Magic, is slated for release at the end of June. I'm working on book 5 of the series, which I think will end up being six volumes. Then again, it started out as a single book and outgrew its confines faster than a backpedaling politician can recant.

My sainted sister is my editor and my niece is the talented little cuss who illustrates my book covers, so we have a real cottage industry going.

Nice to see all the posts here!

James | 3 comments Hello all, My name is James Kafka, just released my fantasy action/adventure book titled Warfolkan.
http://www.warfolkan.net/

The book is self published, because writing 170,000 words is so much easier than writing a query letter. Although, I have written a short story on how I feel about query letters.

I found Goodreads because I haven't read anything new lately, but hope to do so now that I have some spare time.

It's self-published so lately I've been trying to balance the marketing game along with the writing and school game.

Jeri A Estes (httpwwwgoodreadscomjeriestes) | 11 comments Hi, This is my first novel and took a big risk turning down a book deal with a women press.I did not want to be
put in the gay and Lesbian section only. Stilettos and Steel is selling to a mainstream reader base.My agent wants five thousand more sales and he's going back to the New York publishers who loved the story but asked
" Well it make it mainstream?" The screenplay is being well received, Dakota Fanning;s manager loved it and so did John Goodman. maybe with enough reviews and sales New York will take a little risk;-} I need help from readers that believe in a fir playing field for writers. Thank you, Jeri Estes

message 5391: by Jeri (new)

Jeri A Estes (httpwwwgoodreadscomjeriestes) | 11 comments San Francisco, 1969. The counter culture revolution front lines have overrun the city. Golden Gate Park is littered with nude, long haired flower children burning draft cards in a psychedelic haze. North Beach rocks with the San Francisco sound of Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix while Otis Redding bemoans Sitting on the Dock of the Bay. Free love seduces tourists and soldiers, as topless club barkers pack ‘em in under Carol Doda’s flashing neon tits. Jessica Rawlson, an attractive middle class young lady joins the migration to the city on an adventure of sexual self-discovery and personal independence.
Fate leads Jessica to the infamous red light district where a gangster/lesbian subculture thrives. The Tenderloin District is alive with sultry femme fatales, corrupt cops, hustlers and homos. Love, lust and murder share the sidewalks with queens in high heels and high hair as suburban perverts cruise on a safari of lust.
Jessica embarks on a riveting journey from street prostitute to mastermind of her own empire. Her walk on the wild side offers intoxicating freedom and power. Straddling moral boundaries, shuffling lovers, appeasing mob bosses and the heat, while keeping vicious territorial predators at bay, is the price to survive at the top.
Review: “A Brilliant Breakthrough Novel. Gripping, gritty and one hundred percent original. Anyone who loves mysteries, gangsters, colorful characters and strong female protagonists will love this book. I firmly believe Stilettos and Steel is destined to become part ofAmerica's literary heritage and will be referenced and revered for decades.”
