Goodreads Authors/Readers discussion
Introduce Yourself!
Hi! I am Faith. I write in the genre of women's fiction and romance. Please check out my new release OCEAN'S DAUGHTER on Amazon and Smashwords: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...http://www.amazon.com/Oceans-Daughter...
Thanks!
Jenni,Hi, are you writing a fantasy novel? What kind of fantasy? There are many sub-genres of fantasy, from epic fantasy to steampunk fantasy. Do you want it to be a trilogy or a series? How long do you want to work on it?
I ask so many questions because I finally finished and published my fantasy novel. It took me 14 years to write. It is High Fantasy, which means it has a very rule driven and systematic magic system, global scope, and a long timeline including MILLIONS of years of detailed history.
Well, I get carried away, this was really a post wondering about your book to come.

Hi everyone,My name is Tiffany Cherney and I have been an avid reader and writer for years now. I am currently working on my debut fantasy novel Vengeance of Segennya which is slowly nearing completion. When I'm not writing my other two "jobs" fill my time being a stay at home mom and college student. If you want to hear more about me or read rough exerts from my book it can be found on my blog at http://tiffanysmusings.wordpress.com/. Nice to meet you all and I look forward to getting more books for my to read list.
Hi Everyone! This is such a great way to see what other writers and readers are doing!
I'm a writer living just north of the Golden Gate bridge. A few months ago I started a small e-publishing company with a friend and fellow writer (also a Goodreads Author), Emily June Street. You can find more information about us and our work on our website:

Hi!My name is Rose. I'm 23 years old, live in rural oregon, and I've been writing since I was thirteen years old. And while I'm not new to writing, I'm new to publication, as I am publishing my first book in June. (Very exciting.)
I love reading, but between real life, my own writing, and friends and family, it doesn't happen as often as it once did. But I will still sit down and devour a full length novel in just a couple of days if it catches my attention and I'm not slaving away at work. I love fantasy, whether its in books, movies, video games, or other forms of entertainment.

That is my experience. The marketing hat kills my ability to write now. I am hiring somebody, there is no other way.
Hello all, I am Graham and have recently published Liam and the Grump on Amazon kindle as a first time author. The book is a children's picture book for 4-8yr olds. I'd love to hear from people who take the time to read it and also from anyone with marketing advice.Happy Reading

Hi Sonia,I believe the best marketing is to write more books. I can't do that and all the social media, etc. I am taking my life back from the evil computer.
Hi, I'm David Seller, I read an unhealthy amount of books, usually thrillers. I love to write as well and recently published my debut Novel http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17... I like to get involved in general discussions and stuff. Looking forward.
Hello I'm a Self-published author and I have a passion for writing and reading books that inspire me to grow spiritually. I'm married and have 6 kids....yep 6...lol 2 boys and 4 girls. Feel free to read my blog, I recently posted about my family. I live in Ohio and love to travel. God has taken my life and has transformed it completely. I use to hate to read and even struggled with it as a child. So I sometimes laugh at the fact of being a published author. I started to write because I had no one to talk to. Wow...I'm just now realizing that...what an epiphany. Well my venting turned into a book...'The Unspoken Walk" and now I'm addicted to feeding my soul with words of wisdom, the testimony of others, and almost anything that challenges me to grow. God bless Marita Kinney, BCC

I am Lisa Tucker. Unfortunately for me there is a best selling author with the same name so I will be using the pen name Lisa Jeannine. I am working on my first fiction book, Courting Love, a story of love and the journey Courtney and Matthew take to realize that nothing can keep them apart.
The books I will be embarking on will be what I call reality based romance fiction. My stories will be fiction with real life situations based around rare medical conditions. I chose this format to help raise awareness about rare medical conditions and entertain at the same time.
I love to read fantasy and mystery books which take me out of my everyday life. My number one favorite author is Stephen King. I have been know to read one of his books in one sitting.
I look forward to sharing my reading and writing experiences.
My name is Maggie van Galen, and I am the author of two children's books, "The Adventures of Keeno and Ernest ~ 'The Banana Tree' and 'The Diamond Mine'." Hello,My name is Crea S. Ward, author of the Biogenes series. I live, eat, and breathe writing (and sometimes, forget to live, eat, or breathe because I'm writing). Somehow, all of life's problems seem to be solvable with a pen and ink, and when I am not writing, I tend to be practicing philosophy on the back of a drawing pad somewhere in the world - generally, not in the same place, or I would say in front of the fireplace with a hot cup of sencha. I write for the readers, and am currently donating the proceeds from my work to the Morris Animal Foundation. It seems only fitting, since animals play such a large role in my creative work. It's lovely to meet you all!
Hi Everyone. I'm the author of The Chronicles of Han Storm Trilogy. My books seem to be a bit of a controversy as they do not fit into any specific genre. Currently they are classified as Adventure Sci-fi Biography (if that makes sense.) It does not really matter as long as people enjoy the stories. Readers range from teenagers to pensionars. For more information and extracts from the books, visit my website www.chroniclesofhan.com.

The '60s: If You Remember It You Didn't Live ItFor those of you too young or too busy raising kids and working during this time of radical change in the American dream, this book will tell you about what you missed. Journey with the author as he made the transition through the 60s and still came out at the end of the tunnel. Protest and change were the main topics and Jeff Crimmel covers it all.

Hello Vincent. I'm Raymond Koonce, author of "The Pilot", "Arc of Justice", and "Children's Book". All three are available on Amazon's Kindle Books. I'm currently writing a books aimed at young readers, entitled "The Old Lighthouse". Only about 20 pages in on that one, but it's fun to write like my other books, and I'm always interested to see where my tiny little mind will take these books. Unlike a lot of authors, I have no outline and let the books go where they will. Much more fun that way. Thanks for starting the group. Looks like it will be a lot of fun. Raymond

Not sure if I'm doing this right but I wish you the best in your writing and on your first book. I was stationed in Oregon during my days with the Coast Guard and totally loved it. Again, best of luck!
Good morning everyone. Here is today's brand new post on my blog about the reunion taking place this afternoon at Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, New York.
Do you ever take a trip down memory lane?

Hi folks.I'm an ENT doc living in central California with my wife, son, and numerous pets. I started writing short stories in first grade, kept it up all through school, but then college and med school and the rest of life happened. I took it up again when I turned forty, about twelve years ago. I recently released my first e-book, Gator and Shark Save the World. It's about a fifteen-year-old girl who lost her mother to cancer, whose father is an over-ambitious US senator who sees her as a prop, and whose only friend (and parent, really) is her grandfather, an ex-Secret Service agent. The book is ostensibly about her and her grandfather's efforts to stay alive and thwart a plot to forcibly bring about the biblical End Times, but the heart of the novel is Shark's relationship with her grandfather, and how she comes to terms with his unusual past. She's scarred by her mom's early death and her father's absence, and has to learn how to make friends her own age.
I've tried to write a YA SF where there's a lot more going on than action sequences and exploration of SF tropes.
Hi I'm Lorraine and I'm new to Goodreads. I'm currently writing my first novel and I'm looking forward to discovering many great new authors and reading more great books :)

Hello everyone. I'm Mark Rubinstein. I write psychological suspense/thriller novels about people caught in life-altering circumstances. I'm a physician and psychiatrist and have written five non-fiction books. My first novel is MAD DOG HOUSE. My next one is LOVE GONE MAD and will be released in late August or early September. I'd be happy to answer questions. Also, you can visit me at my website www.markrubinstein-author.com
I'm Bernard O'Keeffe, a writer from London. My first novel, 'No Regrets' was published last month. John Carey, the Sunday Times chief book reviewer and ex-chair of the Booker Prize, has described it as 'tremendously good - gripping, heartening, a captivating read'. You can find out more about it, and more about me, at http://bernardokeeffe.com/'No Regrets' is available for the next four weeks as a Goodreads Giveaway.
Hi! My name's Keely, but I'll be releasing my first book under the name of Evelyn Knightley. I'm in the process of releasing an anthology of poetry and short stories, "I Haven't Lived At All," you can find out more at evelynknightley.co.uk
I've been an avid reader for as long as I can remember, and loved writing for almost as long. I studied Psychology at University but dropped out after 2 years, got tired of saying "In an ideal world I'd be writer," and figured I may as well at least give it a go. So, now I'm in that whirlwind place of self-publishing my first book!
My name is Rachelle Rogers. I'm relatively new to Goodreads. I'm a poet, writer, and author of A Love Apart, a novel, POSSOONS, stories, and a new memoir, Rare Atmosphere, all of which are posted on my author page: www.goodreads.com/rachellerogersauthorI look forward to connecting through the group. Thanks, Vincent.
Hi VincentJust stumbled upon your group...what a good way of bringing authors and readers together. I'm Maria Goodin. Last year my debut novel, Nutmeg, was published in the UK, and it's just been released in the US under the title 'From the Kitchen of Half Truth'. It's out/ coming out in a number of other countries this year.
The book follows the relationship between rational science student Meg, and her escapist, cookery-obsessed mother, Val. Val has cocooned her daughter in a world of culinary make-believe ever since she was a little girl. Now, in the face of Val's terminal illness, Meg finds herself in a race against time to discover the truth behind the lies before it's too late.
Please feel free to check out my website (www.mariagoodin.co.uk) or search my name on www.legendpress.co.uk to access a sample of the book.
Looking forward to reading more from your group!

Greetings everyone, The names Nick Smith. Pleased to meet all of you. It feels like I have written about 100 bios as of late and I am tempted to just paste my author link in here, but that would be tacky and I am here to meet friends. Send me a request if you read this. I always accept. I'm from the heart of the good Midwest, living in the concrete jungle of Des Moines, and oasis scrunched between millions of acres of agriculture.
When I’m not working or training for triathlons I am usually writing or looking for a new book. I read and write dystopian and post apocalyptic literature with a mix of science fiction. I believe the most interesting story is one we make up—one within our minds that grows into something worthy for others to read. Thanks – Nick
Hello! My husband & I are “Warneke Reading” and we are super excited to be a part of Goodreads!! Our passion for reading has led us to begin a business of proofreading. We love books! Some of our favorites are: The Lord of the Rings series and the original Dune series. My husband loves Terry Brooks and Tim Dorsey. I’m a huge fan of Charlaine Harris and Michael Crichton. We both love almost any genre, but probably have read more in fantasy and scifi. I also love classic writers like Austen and Dickens. And my husband enjoys graphic novels like Watchmen. Warneke Reading is a small proofreading company based in Minnesota. Currently focusing on the Indie writer crowd, we are excited to help these talented artists realize their dreams. Please see our website for more info: www.warnekereading.com

Hi folks! My name's Dan Harris. I'm an avid reader and indie-published author of two SF novels, Ascension Point and Venus Rising. I'd love to connect more with other readers and authors, and this group seems like a great place for that!

My name is Matthew Wilson and I am presently finishing up a trilogy set in the Antediluvian period of Earth's history. It is a biblically themed novel series, but unlike what you may be used to in this genre. The GOD Principle series reads more like a fantasy with a generous amount of sex and violence - what would be consistent with much of the Old Testament. You can find out more on my site: www.thegodprinciplebook.com

Even so, I make time to sit down each week and write, it's my favorite thing to do. I've just embarked on the self-publishing and marketing trail, hard work, but it's been amazing getting the feedback I've gotten so far. My book is available on Amazon, Smashwords, B&N, and more...if you visit my website www.kchawke.com you can find all of the links.
