Kasey Cocoa (kaseycocoa) | 1 comments Hello and greetings from rural Missouri. I'm a single mother to two wonderful boys who share my love of reading and my sweet angel who just happens to be a special needs child. I've written several short stories for my angel and a few for a friend. The only thing I've ever had published were poems in my school poetry book years ago and a poem a few years back. Mostly I read what I can get my hands on for little or no cost. I'd read much more if I had the budget for filling my shelves with books instead of the necessities of life. My angel would be quick to tell you we are rich and happy because of the love in this house.

Gloria Gonsalves (gloriadgonsalves) Hi, I am Gloria. I write during work breaks especially evenings/nights in the cosiness of my day bed. I also write snippets for my blog @ www.gloria-gonsalves.com, which are posted at least once a month. I am terrible at drawing and therefore seek help from children, with prior consent from parents. That way we both win - they get inspired and I get the satisfaction of seeing them smile for their work in a published book. I can testify that writers do not have holidays at all. When not writing, I am thinking of writing so no holidays at all! :)

Aislinn Marshall (aislinnam) | 2 comments Hi everyone! My name's Aislinn Marshall and I'm the author of "The Crossing." I love writing and reading. Truthfully, I can't imagine one without the other. While I love a wide verity of books my favorites are usually in the mystery or paranormal category. Which pretty much coincides with my writing genre. Other than writing and reading my interests are in anthropology, history, travel and folklore. All of which influences my writing dramatically!

Caden Monroe (CadenMonroe) | 2 comments Hey everyone! My name is Caden Monroe and I am currently an active duty member of the Air Force. Though that is currently my career, I have always held a passion for writing. For over a decade I have bounced around doing freelance jobs including product reviews, blog entries, and articles on just about every topic under the sun. Despite writing a variety of short stories in my younger years, I sadly never had the time or my "big idea" to push me over into working on a full novel or a series.

I have, thankfully, found that idea and rekindled that passion. I am currently working through editing my very first short novel in addition to coordinating with a person I met through Freelanced.com to complete the book cover art. So far, things are shaping up wonderfully and I am extremely excited to finally self-publish my very first work!

In the meantime, I am also working on the early stages of the second installment in the series and enjoying it all with the great support of my wife.

For now, I definitely wanted to get involved with other authors and readers here on Good Reads as I work through the process to help gain ideas, bounce around my own, and share some good reads in the process!

Jack | 24 comments Hi I’m Jack. I have managed to write an ebook mystery called THE THIRD MURDERER and I am working on its sequel. Since I am not computer savvy, can’t type, and going a little blind, writing has been an adventure, but an enjoyable one. This group seems to have members that not only offer encouragement to people like me, but have some good suggestions for books to read and to discuss. Thanks for having me.

Claire | 2 comments Hi,

I'm new to the group. I'm a Goodreads author and an avid reader. I wasn't sure where to post about my book as you don't seem to have a new adult section or if you do, I couldn't see it. This group is very big! But you can check out my book here :

It's a new adult psychological thriller so it's got a little bit in it for everyone! Looking forward to participating in the group. Just not sure where to jump in first!

Stephen Reinschild | 1 comments Hi, I am Stephen Reinschild, Author of the Christian Children's Book called "Quest for the King" Published by Teabba Books, My Imprint through the Createspace Platform. Became available on January 13th sold only two on Amazon. But sold a bunch personally. All that have read it say they like it but it doesn't help sales if there are not any posted reviews on Amazon. on a limited budget it hard to promote the book. anyway. Just wanted to say that Createspace produced a great quality product and I am very pleased with the results.

William Dickerson | 3 comments Hi, my name is Billy. I'm a voracious reader, and I'm getting things together to self publish my first book on Kindle and through CreateSpace on May 1, 2013. My book is called Cherry Wood, and it features a man and a woman that meet in a random fashion. They are both running away from something from their pasts, and it turns out that the things that they are running away from happen to connect in a strange way.

I can't really decide on a genre/category for the book. There is romance, adventure, lots of twists and turns, and characters that my beta readers have enjoyed.

Jim Northrup (jwnorthrup) | 7 comments Hi;
My name is J.W. Northrup
You can learn more about me at www.jwnorthrup.com
My first book is coming out April 18th; "The Gold Slaves."
This is what I'm about:
Science has let us down. It has provided computers and smart phones and internets and nuclear bombs and even spaceships, but the world is far worse than it ever has been in terms of happiness and well-being – which is what everyone apparently wants.

Science says you’re merely a biological organism. Reasoning is done as a result of electrical impulses following predetermined pathways in the brain. These “hard-wired” connections are based upon input from the sensory receptors, all this pre-programmed by strands of DNA molecules.

There is no spirit or soul (at least not according to “science”) and therefore, quite logically, such things as religion, art, love, reason, ethics, agreement, awareness, even happiness itself are simply biological reactions of the endocrine system – a response to a stimulus.

If there were a devil, that’s how he would operate. He would convince you that life is an electrical current and you are an utter slave to the arbitrary reactions of the physical world. He would make politicians, authorities and psychiatrists believe that the common man must be controlled, punished, drugged and regulated to override or circumvent this arbitrary “stimulus-response”. His goal would reasonably be to make you a will behaved slave.

My purpose in life is to invalidate this philosophy and validate the spiritual side of man.
J.W. Northrup

G.P. Francis (gpfrancis) | 5 comments I'm G P Francis, author and independent publisher of sci-fi thriller novel "Primed," (Dissident Press) and short story "Vigi-Santees," published in Fringeworks' anthology "Ain't No Sanity Clause."

I'm happy to join the community, and looking forward to participating in some of the discussions. I think it's a great idea to connect readers and writers in dialogue, and I'm completely committed to answering any questions anyone may have about my own work. I believe a piece of writing only truly reaches its full potential in the hands of a reader.

To kick-start the discussion I'm currently giving away free Reviewer Request copies of the e-book edition of Primed. Anyone interested can contact me through my Goodreads blog, or through my publishing site:

http://gp4ancis.wix.com/dissidentpress

The default file type is pdf, but if you need a different format please let me know and I'll do what I can to accommodate. It would be great to get some honest reviews (I haven't asked any friends or family members to post biased/glowing reviews, so I'm counting on genuine readers) here on Goodreads and the affiliated Amazon websites IF you feel moved to do so, but these copies are being offered with no obligation on your part to do so.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kaine Andrews (kaineandrews) | 48 comments Hi, everyone. I go by the name Kaine Andrews. Looking forward to poking around here, finding some new reading material and helping others do the same.

I like to pretend I'm an author (on my off days, don't you know. ;) ) and have published four novels of my own, with a fifth incoming; I've always been terrible about genre conventions, but I tend to call them modern fantasy and horror. Still trying to sort out all the options for self-publishing, promotion and the like, though I use CreateSpace and Facebook for the most part.

All in all, thanks for having me here; looks like a very busy and entertaining place. And an open invitation to anyone, slap me upside the head and point me in the right direction if ever I annoy, post useless or otherwise pointless information, or do something wrong. I respond well to a head-smack followed by instruction. I must have picked up the trait from my coyote...

Amy | 15 comments Hello All - I am a new to Goodreads and to the group. I love to read AND write. I have entertained friends and family for years writing books. They encouraged me to publish. So now I have two ebooks out there which is amazing! I am currently writing my third. I give myself a break in between by reading a good book. Each book I write is quite different from the last - but they all have a little humor, a lot of chemistry and a hook (gotta have a hook!) You can check out Finding Catalina and The Dream Weaver on Amazon.
Thanks, Vincent, for providing us with place to connect!!

Jerry Ward (jerry6030) | 10 comments My name is Jerry Ward. I am now retired and living in San Diego with my wife, Penny, and our two poodles, Britain and Paris. My academic training was in physics and in business economics. But many years ago I became interested in how our species could start off in caves and end up so wealthy. How did all that wealth come about? My latest book, The Evolution of Wealth: An Economic History of Innovation and Capitalism, the Role of Government, and the Hazards of Democracy addresses that question as well as where do we go from here.

Hi

I've just recently joined GR and discovered this site through one of my GR/Twitter friends. I've peeked into a few of the threads and am very glad I've joined.

I read mostly action/adventure type genres but enjoy fantasy, UF, mystery/thriller etc (mostly because most of them have some kind of A/A in them).

I try to get one book a week read. I am currently reading James Rollins 'The Black Order' (traditional pub) and Ethan Jones 'Arctic Wargame' (indie pub).

I write under the pen name E.P. Scott (my last name is, how do I say it, oh yes, difficult to pronouce). I have written four manuscripts and am currently in the final stages of my debut novel Split Decisions-When Seconds Count (hopefully to be out in 2013). I have it out to beta readers (in chapter chunks at the moment to flesh out errors in continuity, grammar, punctuation etc).

After that, it's onto an editor and then the publishing process. It's a very exciting, daunting, exhaustive, gut-wrenching, amazing adventure and something that possesses me.

I look forward to reading and participating in the threads here and offer my insight and advice where I can.

Cheers,
Pam
Oh, my avitar is one of my ideas for my book cover. Please visit my profile page to see others I've been tinkering with. Let me know what you think. I would love input.
Thx much :)
