Book you won't ever want to read

I know they're not royalty related but I have to say that I won't ever read the Twilight books. I had to force myself to finish the first one for a book club meeting but had no desire to read the following ones...even though we were discussing them all at that meeting.
Yuck.

The only book I have ever ripped to shreds and thrown in the dustbin is Anthony Lambton's 'Elizabeth & Alexandra'!! I thought it was the most horrendous portrayal of Grand Duchess Elizabeth and Grand Duke Serge! 'Ella' was presented as some petulant little schoolgirl and Serge as the archetypal villain from a Gothic horror! Utterly, utterly yuck!!
Elizabeth/Alexandra

Me too , only I was doing it by request to check out it's suitabilty for a teenage girl Awful actually, especially in it's promotion of supine girl behaviour

Where did you find that one???

So why did I ever start to read it you may ask.....well I saw Nancy Mitford's name as the author and thought , ok anything she writes has got to be good, cutting and insightful and well researched etc .
Was most put out and quite bemused to find it boringly ordinary in it's style. Then I looked at the preface stuff ( which I always leave til after I've read the book normally , because often there are spoilers in them)
WELL... the author started on about her midwest upbringing and I thought, What !? Then I looked more closely and saw that she is actually called Nancy Milford...........

Where did you find that one???"
Agnes Sorel The Breast And Crotch That Changed History
I can't take credit for the original find. Susan will have to come and take a bow.

" What outline did Maid Marian see etched against the crotch of those too tight tights?
Friar Tuck wisely said that Robin Hood was an outlaw who could not be hanged. Because the womenfolk in Nottingham knew he was already well hung. "
Dang it, but there's no Search Inside available at Amazon.
