Dreadfleet is a standalone novel in the Warhammer Old world, which follows the pirates of Sartosa. The story is about revenge, where captain Jaego Roth is hunting down the legendary Vampire Count Noctilus, admiral of the Dreadfleet.

I myself am vagely familiar with Count Noctilus, knowing him mainly from the game Total War: Warhammer 3. I had yet to encounter a Warhammer novel about pirates so this was a new and interesting read and take on the Sartosans.

In trying to not give away major spoilers, I will say that the story was in the range between okay-good (3.5 stars). Now, I must explain that I am doing a bit of a comparison of other Warhammer novels that I have read. In other novels the story usually shifts between the protagonist and the antagonist, giving the characters a lot more life, story and give more weight to the encounters. The novel simply followed Jaego throughout the entire book, which left me wishing there had been more about Count Noctilus and his Dreadfleet. Otherwise the book was well written and I liked the shift from the standard Empire/Chaos novels to one about the pirates of the Old World.
