Cindydee (damnerama) | 11 comments I apologize if this was done before. I checked the first page and didn't see any results, so I suppose if it is a remake, it's been a while. If not, I apologize, of course.
Also I'm still new to the site so if this really belongs in general, my bad.

The first SK book I ever read was The Girl who loved Tom Gordon.
I bought it at a bookstore when I was in second grade, or seven years old. I remember how scary I thought it was, and how much I really liked it.
I gave a loan of it to a friend in third grade and never got it back, so last month i rented it from the library.
I still liked it, but in the eleven years between first buying it and getting it from the library, I had read many other novels by the same author, and I found the girl who loved tom gordon lower on my list. Still a memorable read though!

How about you guys?

Susanna (jb_slasher) Carrie. I am actually pretty proud of that. I had no idea who this King guy was. The book was alphabetically the first in the library catalogue and I went for it. And I've been following in his wake ever since. <3

Tom Mueller | 305 comments I'm pretty sure Salem's Lot was my first, WAY back when. It still rates high on my favorite's list.

Apokripos (apokalypse) | 54 comments I'm just starting to read Uncle Stevie's works. So that means I'm a newly initiated Constant(though the term is not that yet applicable to me) Reader. Right now I'm starting to read The Dead Zone. This is also the first King movie I've watched and that took much of the excitement reading the book now. I plan to read Uncle Stevie's enormous bibliography chronologically, but as The Dead Zone is one of his early novels that I have now, I have to make do with it. But I've been dying to read The Shining.

Right now I'm collecting all of his books in its hardcover first trade edition...

So please wish me luck that I will complete this endeavor...

Thanks! ~^^~

Me, too. I read Carrie at summer camp back in 1975? 76? I don't remember, it was a looooong time ago. I also read Interview With The Vampire that same summer, but I liked Carrie more.

DJ | 18 comments My first book was "Pet Semetery", and I believe I read it in 1997 or 1998. I remember having sleepless nights! I have seen the movie before reading. At the same time when I purchased this book, I also bought Needful Things, Tommyknockers. Later years, I bought The Green Mile (1-3 at the time), The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, and Bag of Bones.

Sadly, I've started all of these books, but never finished! I started to get involved with SK again (and because I love his movies, so I *know* the books are million times better), and decided to start with "The Stand".

I'm usually a slow reader, but I've been finding myself reading more often! I'm hoping to read more books to see if it's worth getting the Nook. ;)

Martin Maher (martin87) | 72 comments The first King novel I read was The Gunslinger, & as much as I`ve loved the series, I wouldn`t suggest doing the same, to those that are new to King. I would suggest reading some of his other books first. But having said that, I wouldn`t wait too long to start the `Dark Tower`series.

Jak (blindjak) | 32 comments Deanna, SNAP! Although I read PS about a decade earlier. I’d just moved into a new area and made new friends who made me join the library and as I had no idea what to take out one of the fellas talked me into Pet Semetary which was pretty much the first adult book I read (was 13 at the time). Loved it strait away and have now pretty much read everything Uncle Steve has written.

Cindydee (damnerama) | 11 comments Deanna, I got pet semetary when i was eight, just after i didn't get tom gordon back. It was a good read for sure. I just rebought that as well a few months ago, but haven't had time to read it.

My first was The Stand. The original, cut down version. I re-read it before they came out with the revised edition, which of course I had to go out and read as well. It's still my favorite too.

Sarah | 72 comments Either the Tommyknockers or Pet Semetery - I was 10 or 11 and read them both back-to-back, can't remember which was first. Regardless, I was hooked! That's right when my mother re-married, and my step-dad had a HUGE SK collection for me to raid. Pure heaven.

I read it when it was first released as well. I was super excited when the un-cut was released, and remember my husband thinking I was crazy because I felt like I was getting a new book, and him not being a reader just didn't get that. At all!

Cindydee (damnerama) | 11 comments I have only read the uncut edition of the stand, are there major differences?
I know there was one scene in particular that they cut out.
