Unapologetic_Bookaholic Since 2010 is right around the corner. I thought it I'd be fun to perhaps list a couple book resolutions. For me?

I'd like to complete at least one yearly challenge [in my reading challenge group:] and one series I started in 2009.

And you?

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I want to go 1 whole month week without buying a new book, and work solely on the ones I already own.

Unapologetic_Bookaholic The Count Off Challenge

Its a great way to NOT buy books, join in a challenge, and be rewarded =D. Check it out.

Jackie (thenightowl) I have 4 book resolutions:

1) Read more classics. I'm starting a list of the ones I haven't read and I'm interested in. Plus I own a few classics so this will take care of my 2nd resolution...

2) Read my own books. I've acquired a lot of books in the past year, which have been set aside thanks to my library addiction.

3) Write reviews for every book I read. This was one of my resolutions this year and I've have slowly been plugging away at it. I've fallen behind a couple of reviews, but I still like the challenge.

4) 75 Book Challenge. Another resolution I've been working on this year and would like to continue. Not sure if I will do 75 or maybe aim for a higher number.

southpaw285 For me it's two things:

1) Read more classics
2) Read at least 100 books in 2010

stormhawk | 1184 comments I don't usually do resolutions, because I know that they tend to be broken ... I mean who can resolve to and actually not buy more books? Those darn publishers keep coming out with new ones, you know? Sneaky, aren't they.

I will probably join a 100+ Book Challenge here on Goodreads, again, so I guess that's a kind of a resolution.

This year I'm already well over 100 ...

Unapologetic_Bookaholic Great lists you guys. I can definitely say my book diet has worked. I have not bought one book this month. But the month is not over yet! I'd love to see where yall are at with these in a few months =D.

Oh, I actually did make a resolution!

I am determined to only buy books from used book stores...unless the book was written by one of the authors that I collect.

This will probably save me some money. :)

Lol. Good luck with your third resolution! (I loove Gilmore Girls.)
Here are my 2010 Book Resolutions:
1- Read Classics: I have been meaning to for a very long time, but I was haven't! And it has been irritating me to death!
2- Join a 100 book challenge: I have heard about these a lot. And I would loove to do one and see where it goes!
3- Make some reviews: I have figured out, the only time I do a review is really when the book was crap and I am ranting about it. I am going to try and fix this. (key work being try)
4- Find places with cheap books: Book stores cost sooo much, and I don't have any used book stores where I live. So I am turning to the internet for my new spendings!

If I have any more ideas I shall let you know!

Ellen (ellenpenleysmith) Hey, Amber, how big is Rory's Reading List??

message 11: by Pollyanna (new)

Pollyanna (polly8) My resolutions are:

- Read more books that I wouldn't usually pick up - this will be the easiest I think because I take part in a lot of challenges
- write more reviews
- read at least a 100 books next year
- read books before I buy more - the hardest one, I own a lot of books I haven't read but I am addicted to amazon and green metropolis lol

Unapologetic_Bookaholic I am closer to completing one resolution already lol. But I won't count it now, not until its offically 2010.I read 4 of 6 [and counting I think:] in a series I started in 2009.

Ellen,

There are alot of bookswap sites on the internet; bookmooch, paperbackswap, whatsonyourshelf, etc. I have participated just this year and have "saved" alot of money. While only paying between $1.50 to $3.00 for books I swap from someone. Key element is to ask the post office employee to choose media mail or first class whichever is cheaper. The quality of most of the books are gently read, which I don't mind. Good luck!!

Wow. Thanks Dalene! I will have to check that out! Ooh. I joined the Dymocks book lovers club for discounts on books, has anybody else done that?

stormhawk | 1184 comments For folks who want incentive (bragging rights, really) for reading 100+ books in the coming year, there is a group here on goodreads ... or we could start our own Book Haven challenge thread, I suppose ...

100+ Challenge:

That's a good idea! I'll make a folder for it right now. :)

I just added a folder. In it you can choose between the 50 books challenge or the 100 books challenge. :)

1. I would also have to add Classics to my list.
2. I completed my erotica challenge this year, 10 books. I'm going to sign up for the 2010 erotica challenge, maybe this time I'll go for 15 books.
3. Read more then I did this year. Right now I'm at 57 books. More then last year. I wonder if I can keep the slope going up. Lets try 100.

Jenn (thebiracialbookdragon) | 22 comments Why is it whenever I go in a bookstore I ended up coming out with several books despite I got tons at home that I need to read. One of my book resolutions is to also use the library more this coming year. I’d like to read at least 75 or 80 books this year. I already have made a list of 61 books. I want read some classics and even try out a few romance books.

that's a good one. I wish I could manage it. BUT that said, I have cut back...LOL

Yassemin (yas666) 1/ To read my entire TBR bookshelf at home BEFORE buying another bulk of books.
2/ To limit additions on my goodreads TBR list (1001 books excluded-its taking me forever to add them). Not add any more..until I've read a substantial chunk of them.
3/ Try some new authors/ read series by authors I'm late coming too..scarpetta/agatha christie etc..
4/ Limit my book spending!
5/ Achieve 144 books challenge!
