Actually, you are welcome here. There are a lot of fans who also like Harry Potter and most of us think that the two series really don't have anything in common and can appreciate them for what they each are. I myself am a HP fan and my son and I have never missed a HP opening night.
Oh, and I too didn't like the first movie. I read the books because I didn't see what the big deal about the film was. :)
I agree about the two series being seperate. I was kinda puzzled when, on Netflix, they recommended Twilight because of my interest in Harry Potter...? Oh well, now I know I can be a fan of both, so I don't miss anything! :)
Welcome to the group, Chelsea! Glad you gave it a chance, and ended up enjoying it. That's great. And I agree with what Sadester said, a lot of people enjoy both fandoms. :)
Just a little off, it's been confirmed for the 30th.
So excited for the Eclipse movie! I am going to see New Moon this weekend and don't want to be disappointed. Is it any good?

I was a die-hard HP fan, opposed to all things Twilight (I even walked out of the theatre during Twilight), until my sister pushed the first book in the saga on me during a recent visit.
I read it last Tuesday because I had nothing else to read, and here it is 6 days later and I've read them all (including the partial draft, LOVE IT!).
I got Twilight from Netflix and it really isn't that bad, not sure why I walked out before. And I went Friday night, (by myself) to watch New Moon (the least favorite of mine).
I'm even re-reading Twilight before I have to give it back to my sis when I see her on Thanksgiving, and I like comparing the 1st and the 5th books. :)
So there it is, try not to judge too harshly my total HP fandom and my complete opposition to Twilight. :) Until a week ago that is.
