Dorothea Gordon | 1 comments Hello fellow authors! My name is Dorothea L. Gordon and I've just joined this group.

Exactly one year ago today, I sat down at my computer and wrote the first paragraph for my inspirational memoir "When Life Has Other Plans...Discover the Hidden Gifts." It's been on Amazon.com since May of this year.

This book is full of unusual events and extraordinary examples of how Life keeps challenging me and how I gradually awaken to new insights of what works and what doesn't. I move from Europe to Canada, train in handwriting analysis which leads to past lives research and from there into discovering the non-invasive and regenerative benefits of energy medicine. Life presents me with a 'special' child, a broken marriage, overwhelming physical illnesses and mental breakdowns but always shows me a way out by means of inner personal growth.

It's a timely but also timeless story where I unearth the gift of every adventure and leave the reader empowered and inspired to use new skills toward fulfillment and wellbeing.

V.M. Sang (aspholessaria) | 230 comments Hi. I have 5 fantasy novels, 1 fantasy novella, 1historical novel and a recipe book published. My publisher has another fantasy novella in the pipeline and I have yet another nearly ready to go, along with a second historical novel.
Rather than list them here, you can see them on my website and get directly to Amazon from there. They are all in a variety of formats, including some on audio.

I've found the best help for improving your writing is talking to other authors. They are an awesome group and are more than willing to give newbies the help they need. And the not-so new, too!
One website I think is good to visit is Chris, the Story-Reading Ape. He scours the net for posts that are helpful to writers. I've found many awesome people through him whom I now follow.

Ellen Brazer (ellenbrazer) | 23 comments I want to begin by saying that I really dropped the ball! All during COVID, while everyone was reading, I did nothing to market my books. Although I was working on a new book so at least I can say that. My newest book, I Am Meir's Brother is being released March 1, 2021. I would be honored to send the manuscript to anyone interested in doing a pre-release review. Ellenb9815@bellsouth.net.

I Am Meir’s brother is ta biography of the celebrated research scientist, Eliezer (Eli) Huberman, and the relationship he had with his Israeli spymaster brother, Meir (Huberman) Dagen. In order to grasp the influences that turn ordinary people into extraordinary people, the story begins with Eli and Meir’s parents. The family, including two-year-old Eli, escape from Poland and the Nazi extermination in 1941, only to find themselves entrapped in the frozen tundra of a Russian work camp. Through resilience, ingenuity and determination that would be passed down to their sons, the parents survive. Meir is born at the end of the war on the family’s way back to Poland, where they are greeted with devastation and derision. By the time they finally book passage to the newly formed State of Israel, their Zionist father has firmly instilled in the psyches of his sons a fervent commitment to a Jewish homeland.

Eli excels as a gifted and exceptional student. He serves in the IDF, participates in the various wars, receives a master’s degree in microbiology and a PhD, and draws international attention for his published papers on cancer research. Upon meeting Lily Ginzburg, a life-long love affair begins. A child prodigy pianist from Lithuania and the descendant of survivors, the book examines her family’s life during the war and the impact it has on her. She becomes the bedrock of Eli’s existence, birthing and raising two sons, while shielding and protecting her husband from daily distractions. Eli’s demeanor, insightfulness and genius would open doors into the rarefied corridors of the greatest research institutions in Israel, America and the world. Every day of his life is spent searching for cures, unraveling mysteries, sailing another unchartered course, each step, deliberate and insightful. There are incalculable successes and heartbreaking failures, accolades and dismissals. Through it all, he never quits and never stops believing in the unbelievable.
While Eli devotes himself to science, his younger brother, Meir Huberman Dagan, dedicates his life to the State of Israel. A zealot like his father, Meir rises through the ranks of the Israel Defense Forces, eventually becoming a Major General. He is appointed Director of the Mossad, the National Intelligence Agency in Israel. A hero known as the King of Shadows, Meir is disappointed when his brother leaves Israel for America. Knowing he is unable to protect Eli and his family from the possibility of a retaliatory assassination attempt, Meir resolves to keep their familial relationship a secret. As proud as he was of Eli, it was not until the end of his illustrious life that Meir definitively acknowledges that he has a brother. The title of this book is Eli’s way of telling the world how honored he is to say, I Am Meir’s Brother.

Wunmi Adebowale (goodreadscomsuperwoman9ja) | 26 comments Hello All,

I am a newbie in this group and a first time published Author .My first book "Inspirational Quotes and 30 Days Affirmations" happened to be published in October 2020. My book is packed full of inspirational quotes and affirmations that would help sow seeds of positivity daily in the heart of the reader. I believe there is power in the words we speak and listen to that is why I wrote this book to help people. It's not been what I was hoping for because I was excited and anticipating  (before the Pandemic) a book lunch after my book is published and some speaking gigs here and there but this has not been the case because of the lockdown. All the same, I am positive and optimistic that things will get back to normal. I joined this group because I want to share ideas with like minded and amazing people like you and learn alot on my journey of being an Author. Thank you for having me

I am new to Goodreads and looking to make friends here. Please add me and let's connect

Brian Gay | 1 comments I am writing a short story to submit to a contest and would like honest feedback. Mainly I just want to know if it flows well (though pointing out typos would be appreciated!). For some reason I feel like I am too close to the project and maybe can't see it for what it is.

Is there anyone here who would like to read my story and tell me what they think?

I should be finished next week, Friday at the latest. It is not anything weird or gross, so no worries there. I should have an exact wordcount next week, but it will be under 5000 words. If you need more info, just let me know.

If I am in the wrong place, feel free to point me in the right direction. Thanks all!

1. The book is a precise but detailed scaling of the torch-giving life of our beloved Prophet (PBUH) . It will be a perfect piece of writing for those who want to seek guidance in every aspect of life including social, moral, marital, spiritual or the life hereafter. Congratulations on releasing your debut novel Adele! What was your most favorite and least favorite part about writing it? Where can people go to purchase it?

Speaking of debut novels, just this Wednesday, I released my debut novel as well. It's called Kenji and Yuki: A Japanese Tale.

message 1144: by Adele (new)

Adele Lande | 22 comments Hi Hailey, yes I saw you released that as well. Congratulations! I'm on Amazon KDP but also available paperback through the major online outlets. I'm about to go to Dymocks (Australia) and try and have stocked there. (I'm also self-published.) Favourite part? The escapism, getting 'in the zone'; the twists and turns of the narrative arc. Least favourite part? Tying to reduce the word count and shaping it into a story that makes sense. Hopefully I succeeded! How about you? Are you on Kindle?

Thank you Adele.

I think one of my favorite parts was utilizing my passion and knowledge of Japanese culture to write a novel.

One of my least favorite parts was cutting the word count. In terms of difficulty, it had been a mixed experience for me in terms, even with the help of an editor.

In regards to the Kindle question, Kenji and Yuki: A Japanese Tale is available on Amazon, as well as many other platforms.

You can go here to see where Kenji and Yuki: A Japanese Tale is available:

https://books2read.com/u/b6vg7J

Two things as of right now.

One, I'm currently waiting for library platforms such as OverDrive and Hoopla to make Kenji and Yuki: A Japanese Tale available on there, though because of their long processing times, I have no idea when this will actually happen.

Two, Kenji and Yuki: A Japanese Tale is only available in eBook/Kindle format.
