Hi Pe'le' - I'm a new children's book author as well. My illustrated animal adventure will be out mid summer, and I'm so excited about it. I'm new to Goodreads, but will be anxious to see how may other children's book authors there are of us. I haven't even figured out how to maneuver around the site!

Hi Doc - When I am not reading books for book club - most recently The Bright Edge of the World - I love international intrigue books- Brad Thor, for instance. I think that's called summer reading :)
But I am a new author, a children's picture book, so I will probably be doing a lot more reading in my genre. My book will be out this summer - yippee! What about you? what kind(s) of books do you write? and enjoy reading?

I've published the first book of an open-ended Steampunk Comedy/Adventure series, and a collection of Steampunk short stories. The Perils of Prague and The Shining Cog and Other Steampunk Tales, respectively. I'm working on the follow on to Perils, an adventure set in India.

I read a lot of Sci-Fi and Fantasy. And Steampunk, of course. Or, at least, I used to. My reading has not kept pace of late.

Allen Steadham (allensteadham) | 5 comments Hello everyone! I'm new to this group, too, but glad to be here. I'm Allen Steadham, a new Christian fiction author with Ambassador International, who published my first two books this year. I'm looking forward to becoming more active in this wonderful community.

Mindfire is a superhero thriller. Leia Hamilton can move things and set them on fire with her mind.

Leia's father and step-mother tried to hide their past: a time when they were part of a team of superheroes. But despite being disbanded for over twenty years following a series of tragedies, their problems were passed to their children and Leia finds that her future collides with their past.

In the diverse world of human and superhuman, heroes and villains, friends and enemies, some of Leia's choices have terrible consequences. For Leia, this leads to a personal crossroads and a search for redemption.

Not your normal superhero novel, Mindfire isn't about secret identities, costumes, or evil plots endangering the world. Instead, self-discovery and adaptation is at the forefront as the reader follows the lives of the characters who are unafraid to show love and explore spirituality.

Can redemption and renewed grace weather the flames of absolute power and superhuman strength?

Jordan's World is a Science-Fantasy, the first book in a trilogy.

Jordan Lewis and her mother have been abducted and marooned on an alien world.

Taken in by a friendly tribe of natives, Jordan tries her best to adapt to living on this strange planet called Algoran. Jordan becomes a respectable huntress, but she still longs for the life she once knew on Earth.

When she learns the beings who took her may be on the other side of Algoran, she sets out for answers. Joined by three of her fellow hunters, Jordan crosses dangerous terrain, facing perilous creatures and people.

Will Jordan risk death for a chance to return to Earth?
What is God's will for her life on Algoran?

Exploring the life of an ordinary young woman torn from all she's ever known, Jordan's World shows that God reigns over the whole universe, and that consequences can sometimes span solar systems.

I released my debut a few weeks ago and as always looking for readers, Broken Branches is the first in the Silver Lining Series with it’s sequel set to release by the end of this year. You can find out more about me on my website purpleroanproject.com

About Broken Branches:

Genre: Supernatural Contemporary Fictional Romance

Synopsis:
Set in London England, Kensington and follows Kris through his privileged life as everything is ripped from him bit by bit. When he realises that he is left with nothing, his days become monotone bringing about in him a state of mental autopilot. A beautiful supernatural miracle helps him to uncover the honesty of not just his actions, but of those around him. When he begins to open up, and apply intentions and actions to parts of his life that he used to question, aspects of his world begin to light up and unravel. Magical forces show him the truth about what life is and where happiness truly lays.

Craig Maximum | 1 comments Guest Teacher: What You Need to Know About The School System
By Craig Maximum

Information about the functioning of urban schools is needed. Parents and community members can read this book and get an idea of the gravity of the situation. Guest teachers can learn what they can expect when filling in for teachers to become better informed. Community members and others not fully aware of what is happening in the school system can read this book. Hopefully, by bringing this information to light, we can render support and services to improve the districts. This book serves as an informative look at education

Kathleen O'Shea | 2 comments Hi all! My new anthology, So Much More than a Headache: Understanding Migraine through Literature" is published by Kent State University Press and targets migraineurs, their families and friends, and medical professionals. The book is a collection of literature by prominent authors, including Joan Didion, Michael Cunningham, Oliver Sacks, Jane Austen, Siri Hustvedt, Marilyn Hacker, and so many more. Their writing focuses on several migraine themes--the experience itself, the disease's invisibility, the misconception that it's just a headache, and what it feels like when one finally gets relief. The book is available at Amazon: https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asin...

K.R. Fraser (krfraser) | 21 comments Hi Vincent,

I wanted to introduce myself and also let you know I am still learning my way around Goodreads. I've spent the last year in and out of hospitals, and until now, was not able to really work on building my audience or doing any marketing. I only joined this site lat week. I am really happy to be here and look forward to meeting/interacting with fellow authors and readers. I am going to ask that you please be patient with me as I learn my way around. If you have any pointers for me, I'm all ears. I did read your rules, and I think the three posts I put up are in the right threads. If they aren't, please let me know and I'll gladly move them.

How do I get it noticed here? Any advice? Thanks so much. Diana

Walter Danley (walterdanley) | 26 comments Hello Everyone! Glad to virtually meet you all! And, Vincent thank you so much for creating this group! You're amazing!

I am Walter Danley a four-decade veteran of the investment industry, and I now write suspense thriller novels instead of living the experience every day. I live in the Texas Hill Country, where I work on suspense thriller series, A Wainwright Mystery, and other standalone novels. I usually write from my library office overlooking the Cibolo Creek. I enjoy reading novels by Michael Connelly, Sandra Brown, Robert Crais, or Lee Child.

I also wrote Blasted Past and I hope you can enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it. Blasted Past A Timeless Western Romance When THEN turns into NOW you have a BLASTED PAST (The Blasted Series Book 1) by Walter Danley

When your THEN becomes NOW, you have a Blasted Past. A time-Traveler's Tale of the Old West.
Jim Nagle who has more problems than any 54-year old investment executive can handle. His ex-wife has her lawyers threatening him, his estranged son is in jail, and the California State Franchise Board is chasing him for back taxes. The topper is his business has grown so fast he is mismanaging it. It just seems he can't get a break.
Then, in less time than a single heartbeat, his life is changed forever. A freak accident thrust Nagle back 145 years into history.

Since he has no way to go back to the future, Nagle will wait, tangled in time, for an understanding from above. In the meantime, he soon realizes, he'll need to develop some specialized skills pretty darn quick if he wants to stay alive.

Read and enjoy this rich, nuanced, character-driven tale that goes far beyond good versus evil.

This story will ENTERTAIN, and ENGAGE you, but at the same time you will be ENLIGHTENED by Blasted Past. Watch the Book Trailer here.
