Darius Nease | 3 comments Hi all! A special TY to Vincent, our moderator for this forum.
It's only been about ten days since I made the (scary) leap into writing fiction full-time and I am eager to meet and share with all of you. I love to write, but I learned to read first...lol

Jean Stringam (goodreadscomjean_stringam) | 1 comments Hello everyone, Jean Stringam here. I'm a new member of the group and excited by the idea that readers might be lurking nearby. I'd love to have you take a look at my YA Christmas novella, THE WISE MEN: A CHRISTMAS ADVENTURE.

Summary: In a city sequestered by futuristic technology from the ways of the Middle East in 1 A. D., three friends learn about evil and love as they join in the journey of a lifetime with the Worship Caravan bound for the Messiah.

If you’ve ever wondered where the Wise Men came from, and whether they were kings or magi or prophets or astronomers, or if they had families and friends and hopes and dreams, and how they traversed hundreds or thousands of miles with some of the most precious cargo in the middle east without getting robbed, stabbed or poisoned, here is the whole adventure. It’s revisionist history, it’s fantasy, it’s love.

You can find it in the Kindle store at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ANO68P4

Drop by my website at http://jeanstringam.com to download a free copy of the Christmas carol that goes with the story.

Happy reading.

message 736: by Kella (new)

Kella | 3 comments Glad to be here! Thanks for having this group available! I've rebooted my writing aspirations after 15 years of not writing anything past fanfic (which I maintain is an excellent writing exercise/practice for those who would learn from their own mistakes...), and have one mostly-finished novel stalling me on its own ending, and a second novel that is coming along nicely. (That's not including the three other plot lines which came crashing into my brain when I wasn't looking.)

I can't wait to learn and help as I may!

message 737: by C.J. (new)

C.J. Cherryh (cjcherryh) | 1 comments CJ Cherryh here---I think with a combo of Last Pass and a rabbit's foot I have finally managed to get onto Goodreads.

I write for DAW Books currently, and for backlist and some new works I work with www.closed-circle.net (the hyphen and dot-net matter!!!) which is a little e-publishing group, namely myself, Lynn Abbey, and Jane Fancher, where you can get stuff nobody else has, or has currently; and the funds all go straight to the writer, period. I'm frustrated with the industry at the moment, but things are shaking out: my regular publisher (via Penguin) has finally figured out that things aren't what they were, and that e-books are where it's going. It's not what a lot of us want, but mostly thanks to transportation costs and tax laws, that's what we've got if any of us are going to make a living. The current distributors may look aloft and see an approaching asteroid: I think that the surviving publishers are trying to find a survival niche, and most have got the idea. Meanwhile writers have to flex and go with the times, and if readers will just stay with them we'll all fare better. There'll still be paper books, but more small presses; there'll be good reader access, but a lot more chaff in the market; and over all---we'll make it.
