D.J. Ford | 4 comments Hello beautiful people! I just published my first short novella called Estrella: Harlot of Ridgeway. I would love to gain honest feedback for it if anyone would like a free copy. The first 4 people I am able to see will get a free copy in the mail once my author copies come in the mail.

Description: A foster teen gets adopted into what seems like a perfect new life—until she discovers she wasn’t rescued, she was bought. Now, trapped in a world of secrets, power, and control, she must decide: obey, escape, or destroy the people who think they own her.

Here's a snippet:
Prologue
Oh, hey now—what’s good? Name’s Stella. Ridgeway Junior College’s own harlot. Yeah, I said it. Fancy way of saying I learned early that freedom has a price. Hope? Another thing they sell you before they take everything else.
I wasn’t always like this. Once, I was another forgotten kid, rotting in a group home, waiting for a miracle that wasn’t coming. Then "Coach" Dean showed up. Flashy aura, that fake-ass charm, headmistress practically wagging her tail like a hungry dog. Said he was giving me a "better life."
Fifteen years old. Bought and paid for.
At first? It looked real. A bed. A home. A future. But the illusion shattered when I turned sixteen. That’s when Coach Dean cashed in on his investment. Threw me a “party”—only I wasn’t the guest. I was the entertainment.
A show pony for potential buyers. The price…

Amanda | 6 comments Hello! My novel Through a Mirror Dimly, the sequel to Inevitable Dusk, is available via KU and in ebook and paperback.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F3ZDBC6L

The blurb (also, there's a recap of Inevitable Dusk before Through a Mirror Dimly properly begins):

Seventeen-year-old Acio Seward is putting his life on the line for Quilliard, the centuries-old barn owl spirit who is his best friend. The mission: to sail to the poisoned islands called The Devil’s Ring on the other side of the world and liberate Quill’s kidnapped daughter.

But Quill is dying, and time is short. Plus, Acio is suspicious of the crew aboard their ship. A saboteur, planted by the kidnapper, is determined to kill the pair, and Acio realizes they can only trust each other.

On a solo side mission, Acio learns the kidnapper’s bone-chilling reputation: she is a siren—the last one in the world—and her single weakness is a closely-kept secret. With everything increasingly dire, he must reach down deep and step out on his own to discover the siren’s weakness and defeat her—or Quill and Quill’s daughter are doomed.

The first book of my saga, The Realm: Mirage has published recently.

The story is about a misshapen faced girl who is charged with witchcraft in the late 17th century. Her journey leeds through two worlds, the reality and the Realm to find her family and safety. And find someone who can love her against all odds.

John Cleveland | 1 comments Steeped in Shaolin by John Cleveland Steeped in Shaolin

No profanity. No lewdness. No senseless killing. No AI content. Teen safe.

Who is Helly?

At first glance, she looks just like any beautiful American girl. But it doesn't take long for her foreign accent, strange mannerisms and indifference to danger to let you know that she's not from around here.

Read about how she literally falls into a life that she never asked for. See how her crucible forges her into an unassuming warrior. Observe how the kindness of strangers can change a life.

Elias Axel (eliasaxel) | 2 comments Hi All, Avid (picky) reader and Author here.
My 2025 release Promising Young Man, a raw, often hilarious intergenerational novel captures the heartbreakingly relatable messiness of young (and older) adulthood, the weight of mental health struggles (ADHD), and unpredictable beauty of human connection with a classic 70s road films vibe: About a Misunderstood, Mistake-Riddled Boy Looking for Love & Purpose in Modern America (& his other-minded Grammy who's ready to really live)
Promising Young Man A BookLife Reviews Editor's Pick by Elias Axel

I love reading contemporary realistic, character-driven fiction, usually indie fiction. I also prefer books about life versus relationships (but love books about life that also have relationships :)

My recent non-indie fic favs are: Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver, The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride, and Ash Wednesday by Ethan Hawke.

I prioritize physical and mental health and having good friends over having lots of friends.

XOXO

Victor Korda | 16 comments Hello everyone,

Kindly check this out on KINDLE for free.

From Iron To Blade Assassins and Blades by Victor Korda

A blade is drawn with intent. Kaydee walks a path more ancient than the one his horse trod on in the forest. The prince of Kendi commands the royal guard. It's one of many things about the secluded kingdom, that is different from their neighbours. His uncles had done same before him in order to shield their house. However the ring of mountains on which their kingdom's safety depends, does not shield them from internal strife.
Someone in the palace has caused the attention of foreigners to be drawn to Kendi. Assassins are now crawling all over the kingdom, looking for weaknesses in their defences. They have discovered Kendi's secret and will surely return with thousands more men, if they escape the clutches of the mountain kingdom.
The prince is a blade wildered with an iron will by head the palace guard, his uncle. With the immediate threat seemingly over, they must all find out, how much damage had been done to their lives. Change has come, and there are more dangers for Kendi.
Kendi must face this new world. The prince must become more than a commander, and the man must be more than a blade.

Gina | 1 comments Hey! My name is Gina Augustini Best, and I recently released More Than Ivory, a twisty upper YA mystery/thriller with a literary thread.

Here’s what it’s about: When her mom is violently abducted at a neighborhood ATM, 17-year-old Mireya finds herself thrust into her mother's shocking past, a disturbing world that she would have never imagined possible for the woman who raised her. And as details of mysterious bank accounts and possible ties to a Texas gang emerge, Mireya soon realizes that whoever took her mother could also be hunting her. Can she protect her mom—and herself—before it's too late?

For readers who enjoyed Sadie, Monday’s Not Coming or A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder.
