Brian Keller | 14 comments Hi. I'm a new author and new to Goodreads.
Having retired from a very active career in the military, my wife insisted I find a hobby, something to keep me occupied during the colder winter months. Another representative tale of "be careful what you wish for"...
The series is a medieval-era fantasy that follows the life of a young boy as he is recruited into a secretive guild that trains thieves, assassins and other specialties that support those roles. Magic does exist; it's elemental-based. While magic adds to the story and provides depth, it isn't a central point.
I have attempted to create a balance between world-building and developing memorable characters while telling a story worth reading.
I welcome any and all comments and criticism and the "Ask the Author" function on my Goodreads page is perpetually set to the "On" position.

G.K. Werner (gkwerner) | 27 comments FREE ebook

Hi folks!

Just wanted to let everyone know that my interview with E. C. Stever has been posted on his blog http://www.ecstever.com/interview-wit.... It was a pleasure interviewing with him and I encourage everyone to check out his spec-fiction books. I thoroughly enjoyed Non Metallic and I’m now reading Dragon Removal Service. It’s based on one of those ideas you wish you’d thought of—but E. C. Stever did.

To celebrate my first interview ever, I’m offering The Sword and the Way ebook free on Amazon from now until Wednesday 4-17-19 at 11:59 PM. A heartfelt thanks to everyone who already grabbed it—and you might want to grab it again while it’s free because I recently added a character list, glossary, and Xaichen pronunciation guide I hope will be helpful to readers. Not to mention a new cover, courtesy of E. C. Stever.

If you favor complex plots, multiple POVs, swordplay and skullduggery with a touch of humor and romance from a Biblical perspective, you might like it. Martial arts enthusiasts and/or fans of the old Kung Fu TV show starring David Carradine might also get a kick out of it. (See what I did there?) If you do enjoy it, please rate it and, if you have time, leave a quick review.

Thanks so much!

G. K. Werner

Terence Park | 16 comments Hi, I'm Terence Park. I've read Fantasy since I was 7 when I began with The Magician’s Nephew and other works by Cs Lewis. I progressed onto
The Lord of the Rings and once the Witch World books began, I knew I liked the genre. That was many years ago and I've now moved onto writing Fantasy (and SF).

Here's my latest work: The Turning Stone - Arshaana's Calling
Thousands of years ago a spell was cast to bind the warring powers on Earth into one people, humanity. The spell was set in a stone: the Turning Stone but the stone has has gone missing. It mustn't fall into the wrong hands because if the spell unravels, civilisation will collapse.

The action begins in an alternate Earth with the discovery of an ancient rune marked stone in the little known realm of Uighuristan, before moving to NuWrld where things come to a climax.

Adam Craig | 5 comments Hello everyone my second novel A Donkey's Tale is finally complete and available on amazon. If you enjoy sword & sorcery or a good laugh take a look. Here is the blurb and link below.
Thanks

The village of Mintus is in trouble. The Oracle Porcia is late for the ceremony to the Gods, and the escort sent from the village just returned scarred out of his mind empty handed. Now the task falls to the village flunkies, a pair of dwarf peddlers, two mysterious elves and a cursed donkey to find the Oracle and escort her safely down from her mountain home.
But nothing is ever as straightforward as it seems. The Oracle is not missing, but her communing stone is. It’s been taken by fiends. With the promise of a reward they can hardly imagine this band of oddballs sets out to retrieve the stone, save the village and maybe break a curse along the way. That is if they don't kill each other first.

The Dragon's Rising Book 1 of Ancient's Armor by Nathan Ayersman
My name is Nathan Ayersman and my novel is "The Dragon Rising."

Falkier Inalumin, a falsely imprisoned court scribe, is granted the power of a sword inhabited by the Dragon, one of the Ancients who created the world. He has been tasked to use this sword to kill Rakar Gorxand, a man chosen hundreds of year ago to rid the world of evil only to be corrupted by it instead. Through this first book in a series, Falkier bonds with mercenaries, learns to fight without sight, and seeks out the other parts of a suit of Armor imbued with other Ancients' powers.

The Dragon's Rising (Ancient's Armor, #1) by Nathan Ayersman
I'm Nathan Ayersman, the author of The Dragon's Rising. This is my debut novel in an anticipated trilogy.
Falkier Inalumin has spent the past six years imprisoned by the king whom he had served under as a scribe. He hadn't attempted to escape even when the opportunity arose until one night when a stranger comes to break him out of prison at knifepoint.
After his escape, he is granted the power of the Dragon Sword, a weapon imbued with the power of one of the Ancients who created the world. He is also tasked with assembling a suit of armor imbued by the rest of the Ancients so that he may kill Rakar Gorxand, a man who had been granted a set of armor by the Ancients which was corrupted by the evil he was chosen to eliminate.
On this first leg of Falkier's journey, he becomes a mercenary, learns a sword style which allows him to fight without sight, and faces off against a man with the power to weave the fabric of the universe.

V.M. Sang (aspholessaria) | 230 comments I am currently working on two things. Book 4 of The Wolves of Vimar series and a novella about the parents of the protagonist in the Wolves books.

The series is about how a group of disparate strangers sets off to find the lost sword of the legendary King Sauvern and how they become firm friends, looking out for each other much as the wolves in a pack do. (The Wolf Pack)

The second book takes half of the Wolf Pack, as they call themselves, and follows them through their capture by an enemy and the terrible discoveries they find. They must escape and bring the information to the government of Grosmer, their homeland. (The Never-Dying Man)

Book 3 follows the other half as they escape from the enemy and their adventures under the mountains as they endeavour to get home. (Wolf Moon)

In Book 4, (as yet untitled) the current wip, The Wolf Pack becomes embroiled in a war when the enemy invades and uses magical tactics to drive the current government out of the country. The leader then begins to show his cruel side and persecutes the native people. Can the wolf pack manage to save the country and re-establish the legitimate government?

S.L. Briden (slbriden) | 2 comments Hi there.

S.L Briden here, the author of From the Ashes

This is the first novel in my Epic Medieval Fantasy Series set in King Arthur Era, United Kingdom. (Shadows of a Phoenix )

My amazon description is this.

A noble knight. A haughty sorceress. A dark prophecy that binds them together...

For David and Andrew, Knights of the Phoenix Order, it was a simple mission… escort a young woman to the safety of the Order’s fortified citadel. But in the midst of a simmering war, a chance discovery sends young David down a path he could never have imagined…

Arread, their beautiful and haughty charge, bears the mark of a powerful sorceress, one whose mystic abilities make her the ultimate weapon in the coming war. David prefers to place his trust in cold steel rather than the fickle powers of the arcane. But he soon finds himself drawn to the mysterious and tempestuous woman…

When dark forces led by the cruel and sinister General Sicarus kidnap Arread, the young knight is torn between his oath to the Order and the yearning in his heart. As battle rages across the land, David and Arread discover they are both swept up in an ancient prophecy, from which there may be no escape.

And soon they may be forced to sacrifice everything they hold dear, to stem the growing tide of darkness...

High fantasy and Arthurian legend mix in this epic new series. Read 'From the Ashes' today, and discover an age of honour, valour and magick.

E.D. Robson | 4 comments Hello readers, my name is Denis (publishing under the name E.D.Robson). I am a new UK based self-published author who has recently released his first three humorous? / fantasy books based on a character known as the Irrelevant One who is the subject of a failed assassination attempt by his previously unknown sister-in-law, a minor Mesopotamian goddess known as the Drunken Weed.

The books describe their adventures and relationships across time and space, with the first one, 'The Drunken Weed' being on a goodreads ebook giveaway, open until 13th November.
As with many authors, I have always been an avid reader and harboured an ambition to write, which self-publishing has made possible.

My flirtation with fantasy novels began with the Narnia books at an early age, through to Tolkien and then Michael Moorcock in my teens (yes I am that old!) so I am looking forward to seeing how Amazon and Netflix treat their forthcoming television adaptations of the classics.

Stone | 2 comments Hi all!
My first book of the Modern Warlock series is out.

Available here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YN9S57R

It has been 10 years since the police had charged him with the murder of his wife, an accusation that almost destroyed Jason’s life before finally being declared innocent. Now, all he wants is to retire, and disappear into oblivion.

Jason liked his plan, and it should have worked. Then, a strangely dressed man blew up his plan and sent him to training – Warlock training. Jason didn’t want to go; becoming a Warlock looked like a fast track to being murdered. But when paid assassins try to kill him and his family, becoming a Warlock is his only way to keep everyone he loves alive.

Jason finds Warlock training is less about learning magic and more of a boot camp where surviving each day is goal number one. Things go from bad to worse when he saves his friend Weston from a magical beast. The beast is now out for his blood and will track him across any realm.

Jason must now use his new skills against foes much more dangerous than he could have ever imagined. Foes with plans greater than just killing him.

R.C. Gray (rcgray) | 1 comments Hello everyone. My name is R.C. Gray, and I am a dark fantasy author that has recently published my debut novel. It follows the journey of a goblin that gets tangled in an adventure that sends him across the ocean with a group of allies to search for a magical item lost to the ages. I also have two short stories set in the same world that follow two separate characters.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments or would like to connect and discuss fantasy topics.

Here's the blurb for Stone of the Denmol:

Murder. Magic. Mayhem.

Skara, a lone goblin, is little more than a shadow living in the forests outside of Banrielle, unaware of the happenings in the world around him. Avoiding most others, he relies only on himself to survive until he meets an elf named Faine, whose reckless actions set him down a dangerous path. Forced to confront the burning fires of his past, he is thrust into a journey across the sea to search for a fabled arcane artifact hidden away for centuries.

Will his walk down the shadowed path lead him to find the life he was meant to live, or will it be fraught with nothing but violence, bloodshed, and death?

If you like brutal action and adventure, epic journeys, monsters, blood magic, necromancy, and morally gray characters, this is a must-read.

Chris Grey (minus1digit) | 3 comments Hello, everyone. First time posting here about my first publication. A short novella which is book one of a brand new fantasy fiction series.

A drifter finds an ancient sword with a soul trapped inside. This leads to an adventure full of magic, mayhem, and dragons. Book two is soon to follow, due to come out before Christmas of 2019.

Book one is available on Amazon now:
Forces of Nature: The Chosen One

Here is an excerpt from the prologue:

“It cannot be true, Ayuss.”
Ayuss then twisted the dagger, having been skillfully placed into Argonis's spleen. An almost inaudible grunt could be heard. “This was not my idea, friend. In fact, I voted against it.”
Argonis managed to furrow his brow even more, but then he felt himself go wan. He felt the blood rush from his face. Still, he focused on what was at hand. His near life-long friend and right-hand-man had stabbed him with a fatal blow, and to top it off, there were enough betrayers to vote against the king to convince Ayuss to betray his only friend. “I brought peace to these lands.” He barely managed to get the words out as he crumpled to his knees. Ayuss kept him from falling forward.
“Well, from what I understand, you interrupted a wealthy business. They profited well off of the war in which I helped you put to an end. There are also others that wish to abolish the monarchy all together. Guess who joined forces?”
“I had my own plans--”
“Oh, right, your feudalistic confederacy. Even I can see that the people want a republic. They are tired of being led by one person.”
“A Republic? That is what they want, but...” He coughed up blood, and now his teeth and lips were covered in it, “they are proposing an oligarchy. Do not be fooled.” Argonis's vision went blurry, and he struggled to get a hold of Ayuss's face. “Do not be--” He suddenly collapsed into Ayuss's chest; dead.
Ayuss removed the dagger, and laid his bygone friend down gently. As if eavesdropping, someone opened the door to the royal stables. Ayuss suspected it would be the Knight-Commander. As he turned to see who it was, he was met with a hard slap to his face. He furrowed his brow, and breathed in heavily, only to be met with another slap, then another. He calmed his demeanor as soon as he realized it was the Queen.
Lilyanna's eyes were already welling with tears, and a few spilled as she exclaimed, “How dare you!” She swung for another slap to his face, but it was a weak effort, Ayuss easily stopping it.
“It had to be done. There was no other way.” He was only met with increased sobbing, and having to keep another individual from falling forward. He put his arms around her. “I'm sorry.” Ayuss was surprised to feel a tear escape his eye. He did his best to hold it to that, and he began to help her up to escort her back, but she brushed passed him to retrieve Argonis's knight medallion. She then abruptly bumped into him as she left without an escort, running out through the door. Ayuss ran after her. As he opened the door, however, he found she had had a horse ready, and she was galloping off at full speed. Ayuss gave a sigh, but couldn't blame her for running away. He never wanted to be a part of this coup in the first place. Despite that, the deed was done. It was now up to the people.

Christopher C. Fuchs (christophercfuchs) Hello Everyone.

I’m Chris, author of the Earthpillar world of books and short stories (half-tales, I call them), which are set on an Earth that evolved differently. New continents and seas, dozens of distinct societies, and materials like some metals have alternative properties. The world of Earthpillar spans from prehistory to the steam age, but all are connected in some way.

I call my writing “epic adventure” because it has flavors of epic fantasy, action & adventure, historical fiction, and steampunk, but lacks magic or mythical creatures. I enjoy blending adventure and political intrigue, fictional continents and materials, and customized medieval and early modern technology. I like to think of Earthpillar as a mix of the swashbuckling adventure of Alexander Dumas, the depth of Tolkien (but with gray characters), and the political intrigue of GRR Martin, with my own intense interest in custom materials, machines, and cultures.

As you can see on my Goodreads bookshelf, my personal interests are broad, from medieval history and philosophy, to astronomy and particle physics. I take an interdisciplinary approach to writing that is influenced by these topics and extensive travel, degrees in history and political science, and a touch of engineering experience.

As the owner of Loremark Publishing, I work with freelance editors, proofreaders, and illustrators to bring my novels and other writings to life. I opted for this middle route between traditional and self publishing because I wanted to ensure high quality books but also retain full control of my writing career. And now, after about a decade of writing and editing, I’m in the middle of a “rapid release” of three novels.

I have a Goodreads giveaway ending on January 7. The novel was named a "Top 5 novel of the year" for 2019 by Liviu Suciul, former co-editor of Fantasy Book Critic. See why Kirkus Reviews and others have compared this epic fantasy debut’s depth and interesting characters to Game of Thrones. Some reviews:
Story was a little more steamy than my usual reads but still interesting and entertaining sadly if the story requires sex to make it worth reading them it isn't worth reading to me . I'd watch porn if I just needed sex . It was a good read and am looking forward to the next book!!!

Wow! Glad I found this. It was sheer escapism, which is just what I need. At first I was worried it would be on the formulaic side, but to my delight, Aurora is smart and strong and every bit Doran's match. I just LOVED the unexpected plot twists and the role played by the entity known as Chaos. Truly a well-fleshed out alternative world, and faeries have never been sexier!

Necropolis

Hello, my name is Penn Fawn.

I'm the author of Necropolis, a grimdark fantasy series in which eight men, three after being killed and five after entering a portal, acknowledge the life they once knew ended, but continues within the hellish confines of the underworld. There they discover not only is there an afterlife, it is much more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

Having experienced a transitional period of shock, then acknowledgement, then despair, they concede life beyond this tier, or within the underworld, appears to be the final destination and place of retribution for men.

In the midst of desperation to discover whether this is true or if there is a way to escape, they learn the necropolis, a diamond-studded jewel they’d all but forgotten about trying to find, was imbued with a power critical to their having any hope of salvation.

I am offering the first installation of the series as a free download. Do grab it at the following link, and if you will, leaving an honest review would be nice: https://bookhip.com/LKGRPV

Daisy Rodriguez (drdrgz82) | 24 comments hello everyone my name is Daisy Rodriguez and I am the author of The Prince Within. here is a little info on my book. My book The Prince Within is a YA/Fantasy/ Horror. Even though my book looks like it could be lost within the millions of Fantasy/Horror books, I think mines would stand out because not everything is, as it seems. My book focuses more on the Villain who is not so much of a villain in the sense that we heard of but he ends up being the hero. My book will take you on a ride of different emotions and heart racing action.

Shakeil Kanish (shakeilkanish) | 11 comments The Sigil: A Novel

Hi! My name is Shak and I just released my debut novel 'The Sigil' I was super excited to tell the story about a gay MC of color and just give a kind of underrepresented hero a chance.

Lake:

Lake Smithson has everything a boy like him could ever want. Loving, adoptive parents and a brother who feels like his other half. So why does something inside him yearn for more? Fate has other plans for him. A tragic event obliterates his world, forcing him to find a reason to go on. His obsession to find the answers makes him question everything he has ever known and thrust him into a world that has hidden in plain sight for centuries.

Nova:

Nova Rathers has always been looked down upon by those who are ‘gifted’. Determined to prove she can be more than her circumstances, she struggles to find a way to make a name for herself. Until an uninvited visitor makes their way to her world, setting off a chain reaction of events that go against her entire way of life. Leading her to make choices that could tear apart everything her people worked so hard to keep secret.

Joined by new friends, Lake and Nova attempt to piece together mysterious clues about what’s happening. Unfortunately, their hunt might lead them to something even more sinister. Something that could destroy everything that they have left.

Kyle McCurry | 7 comments Hello my name is Kyle McCurry and I am the author of The Fleeing Company, which is the first book of The Drifters’ Road series.

The Fleeing Company tells of Adroegen and his friends being hunted by the goblin chief, under command of his master Vyroun, an evil lord in the north. Adroegen visits his friends one summer, but their home is then razed one night by the goblin chief, who had helped to kill all in Adroegen’s kin when Adroegen was a child. The goblin chief wants Adroegen to return a dark jewel known as the Night’s Jewel, which is said to gain loyalties of all foul creatures that walk in the night, and if in Vyroun’s hands, this jewel could gather many forces to him. Adroegen is told by the goblin chief that if he does not return this jewel, that he will hunt and slay Adroegen’s friends. Adroegen must then lead his friends, who had never fought before, into the wild and to someplace safe as they run from the goblin chief and his pack of goblins. And yet, Adroegen greatly wishes to slay the goblin chief, and he struggles between the need to keep his friends, who become his new kin as they venture on, safe from danger, and his desire to avenge his old kin that he lost years ago.

The story is an escapist tale of good and evil that takes place in a fairy tale, fantastical world that people would love to get lost in, with themes of family, friendship, finding what our purpose is, and whether or not there is a higher power that watches over us all.

There is a 10 book giveaway for The Fleeing Company that ends on March 1. The book is also available on Amazon.
