Welcome Fantasy Authors and Readers!

I've got your book on my "to read" list."
That's great! I hope you enjoy it. I've added yours to mine as well :)

Thanks for creating such a welcoming place for authors to talk about their books and meet with other readers and writers.
I'm DK Mok, and my debut novel, The Other Tree, was released by Spence City earlier this year. If you enjoy urban fantasy adventure with touches of mystery, botany and archaeology, then you might enjoy The Other Tree.

Family. Truth. Immortality.
Choose One.
It’s been four years since Chris Arlin graduated with a degree in cryptobotany, and she’s still no closer to scraping up funding for her research into rare plants. Instead, she’s stacking shelves at the campus library until a suspiciously well-dressed man offers her a lucrative position on a scientific expedition. For Chris, the problem isn’t the fact that they’re searching for the Biblical Tree of Life. The problem is that the mission is being backed by SinaCorp, the corporation responsible for a similar, failed expedition on which her mother died eleven years ago. However, when Chris’s father is unexpectedly diagnosed with an incurable illness, Chris vows to find the Tree of Life before SinaCorp’s mercenaries. She recruits Luke, a sardonic campus priest undergoing a crisis of faith, and together, they embark on a desperate, wondrous race to find the legendary Garden of Eden.

I published my debut novel, Ahvarra: The Heart of the World, in March of this year. You can read the blurb at the link, so rather than copy and paste that over, I'll say a few words about my motivation for this book.
First, I wanted to publish a stand-alone fantasy novel. You can read Ahvarra and get a complete story, with beginning, middle & end, without feeling like there are umpteen other novels following it that you're required to read to get to the finale. Second, I wanted to pursue characters who aren't good or evil necessarily, but who act on their own objectives, their own ambitions. There's plenty of conflict, but several of the point of view characters are what one would traditionally call bad guys, but at least here you'll see what drives them to their actions. And finally, I wanted to build a world that linked to our own: except rather than link to our past, I linked it to our future. So you've got a fantasy world that, through a gateway known as the Heart of the World, connects to a 21st century Earth just 15 or so years in our future.
I'm writing other tales that will exist in this other world, each of them intended to be stand-alone, should you find Ahvarra's world interesting enough to want to return to, as several early readers have.
If you give it a chance based on what's here, I hope you enjoy it. And then talk about it with your family, friends, co-workers, people you see in the grocery store...

I've been busy working on some fan fiction that's dominated some blocks of time in my life alongside my friends and family. I've decided to post my story here on Goodreads to get it greater exposure and to learn more from all of you!

My name isGavin Ough and my story, called The Spaces In Between: A Novella, is about a young man who loses his father to an accident, his mother to insanity and discovers he has the ability to see negative space. Seeing The Spaces In Between allows him to visualise escape routes and use them to get away from his enemies. Forced to use his abilities to come to the aid of his kingdom, Gremlaw ends up being taken prisoner and dragged across the harsh landscape of Lavash.
I was told the ability to see negative space is a new concept in a fantasy book, so this is well worth a read if you're sick of the same regurgitated story.
There's also a fair amount of magic, humour, death, drug addiction, self loathing, fear, love and triumph involved so I think there just might be something for everyone to enjoy.
Head over to http://www.amazon.com/Spaces-Between-... to have a look and possibly even buy a copy.
Cheers, Gav.

In June of 2013 I created the rapidly growing blog www.Booknvolume.com on WordPress. In one year Booknvolume has had over 60,000 visitors and has amassed over 2800 followers from over 150 countries worldwide. My birth name is Cynthia, but I write under the pseudonym ~Morgan~, so don't let it confuse you. :)
My first book, "Dark Fey, The Reviled" is book one in a series I am currently penning. It is a Fantasy genre story set in the primordial forests of mystical time in a land peopled by both Light Loving and Darkness Revering Faeriekind. It shares the Trials and Triumph of Courage and Perseverance, while wrapping the reader in lush, lyrical descriptions. Available on Kindle, "Dark Fey, The Reviled" is already receiving 5-star reviews. http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Fey-Revile...

The Dryad

My name is Amy Flint and I'm the author of Shadows in the Mist, the first book in my Porter Biggleswade series. http://flintie1.wix.com/porterbiggles...
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Porter...

Nicknamed ‘the Shadow Reader’ for her ability to see ghosts, Dr Porter Biggleswade is a straight-talking paranormal investigator. While Porter’s work takes her to the Bronte Parsonage in Haworth, ghostly feuds are the least of her worries. A woman haunted by her living mother; a farmer plagued by spectral ewes; and a developer desperate to evict his mediaeval tenants show Porter that the living are as troubled as the shadows she is investigating.

There are now nine topnotch reviews posted on Amazon and several here. I'd love to have some discussion on Goodreads by those that have read the book or would like to. In particular, I'd like responses to the characters' evolving maturity, the subtle political aspects, credibility and creativity of fantasy elements. Also, I use formal court language for the queen to enhance she status, and formal but not court language, for the primal wizard. Do you think that enhances the characters positions as I hoped? I'd love to see some discussion about the depth of the world beyond just the fantasy entertainment.
Thanks for any interest noted.

I actually would rather have people enjoy my stories than make money. That is why I write. Therefore, from now to the end of September, my books are available for free on Smashwords - https://www.smashwords.com/profile/vi...
You can get "The High Duties of Pacia," "A Princess of Fae," and "Jesika's Angel" all for 'reader sets the price' so just set the price at $0.00. (Note - "The High Duties of Pacia" contains all three volumes of that trilogy so you don't need the individual volumes which are also listed there.)
Please see my Goodreads page or Smashwords page for summaries and reviews. There are more reviews here on Goodreads than elsewhere.
Naturally, I would love reviews but you have no obligation to write one if you don't want to. The books are still free.

My name is Jez and I am mainly a reader of fantasy. I particularly like the grimdark style of fantasy that has been coming out, over the last couple of years.
Alongside reading though I am dabbling in a little writing and I am currently working on, what I hope will be, my first novel. So far I am on a first draft of a prologue and first chapter. Unfortunately work tends to get in the way of my writing, but I soon hope to be able to put aside some time to carry on.
I have joined this group hoping that I can also get a bit of a push and some assistance in the right direction.

Overview
Centuries ago, an angel?s betrayal left the plane of Celestia reeling. Not long after, mortals and celestials alike fought demons in the War of the Races, mistakenly thinking a battle against the demons would never happen again. Unfortunately, now nearly two thousand years later, rumors are circulating that the Lord of the Hells has a daughter, and demonic activity in the mortal plane of Elyshaeza is increasing.
Neil is a rogue demon who has left the Hells for Elyshaeza. But when he encounters Shara Aotallin, an elf ordered to take him to be judged, he is suddenly thrust into a mystery that leads him and several elves to a gruesome discovery. Artemis is a young celestial left on the mortal plane who is questioning its abilities and identity. Another celestial tries to perform his duties, but is haunted by the past and the present. After a village girl, Collie, is brought to Celestia, an incident with a demonic mirror literally leads her to the Hells and back. And it is only the beginning for all of them.
Rising Star is the first in the Rain of Stars trilogy.

The queen of Aundour is assassinated. The Falcon’s Eye, a talisman of great power, is sealed within the infant heir to the throne, who is exiled for her own safety.
Sixteen years later, land pirate Ava is rescued from execution by a stranger who reveals that she’s being hunted for more than her crimes. Aundour’s sworn enemy seeks the amulet hidden beneath her birthmark, and the only place where she will be safe is with her real father, the king who sent her away.
A dormant power now awakens within her, a destructive force too strong for an untrained mind to handle. But Ava never asked for magic, wealth, or even a father. All she wants is to escape the lords and liars trying to control her. When the web of evil closes in, and Aundour’s fate hangs by a thread, Ava must make a choice: her need for freedom, or the kingdom doomed to fall without her?

The storyline was inspired by European folklore and Tolkien, and it is based on the personification of the mighty Forces of Nature...

IMMORTALITY AWAITS is the opening of a fantasy saga examining the modifications of the human self due to the backfired end of greed and power. The perspectives weave between the antagonist and the protagonist to examine the similarities and differences between good and evil.
Never forget who the enemy is.
After being plagued by dreams sent to him from a mysterious sorceress named Isabelle Hopwood, Donovan Carter discovers he and his closest friends must uncover the legendary Objects of Inwit — powers bearing the elements of the world promising both invincibility and immortality.
However, in the parallel world of Ianaro, the vengeful Lord Matobian leads his own apprentices to find the Objects for themselves in an attempt to gain ultimate domination. Their bond begins to quake at the control of the powers, but the promise of an oncoming war still stains the horizon.
The battle lines have been drawn. The armies have taken up their weapons. The Powers have chosen their victors. Immortality awaits those without mercy.
I look forward to interacting with you all!

Set amidst the period of the Salem Witch trials, the story follows Merry Chalmers, accused witch, as she leaps from the 17th century into modern-day Salem, to find herself racing to save both herself and the man she loves from the disastrous fate history holds for them.

Skyla, a social outcast from an ordinary town in the 21st Century, is transported to a medieval land in the midst of war, where magic is a part of everyday life. Finding herself empowered with magical abilities she must fulfill a destiny decided by the gods, a destiny which will test her limits to the full. How can she cope with these new pressures and how can she possibly succeed?
Cheers guys!

An uncommon look at the evolution of a mythical world, this introduction to an upcoming saga is not a light-hearted fantasy, but delves more into the strong, yet damaged psyche of the hero.

I'm a published Swiss Fantasy Writer. Are there any German readers out there?
I wrote a Fantasy Story called Kriegssinfonie which is a trilogy. The first book was published by German Publisher in March 2014.
The story takes place in a harsh greek/roman setting with vengeful gods, intrigues and old and new war heroes.
I always say it is a mix between Homer Ilisas Trojan War and X-Men.
