Linda I am so excited to see this new List, but since we don't have the list posted yet, I thought it might be fun to take some guesses at what titles we would expect to see on this list. I'll start with some of my personal favorites:

Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell
The Giver by Lois Lowry
Roll of Thunder Hear my Cry by Mildred Taylor
Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls
Heidi by Johanna Spyri
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle

Well I could just go on, but I'll let others take it from here!

Roland I looked through the entire book one time, so I know some of the titles, but there's no way I was able to memorize that monster of a list! I don't recall Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing being on the list, but I sincerely hope I'm wrong about that one, since it was one of my favorite books growing up. Same with From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, which I read many times. It would be a crime if that one were left off. I'm not too sure how many Newbery award winners made the list either.

Christina Stind Some of the CS Lewis Narnia books, Pippi Longstocking and maybe some other books by Astrid Lindgren, Milne's Vinnie the Pooh of course, some of Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit books - and I guess some Harry Potter too.

And I second Heidi. Amazing book!

For me, books about horses was a big part of my childhood. I especially loved the Black Stallion series by Walter Farley - but I guess Black Beauty would be the better choice. Also the book about Flicka by O'Hara.

And what about Anne Frank's diary?

Linda I agree with The Chronicles of Narnia, Peter Rabbit, Winnie the Pooh and Black Beauty. Also would add Little House in the Big Woods.

Others I would like to see on the list include: Mike Mulligan's Steam, The Little House by Virginia Burton, A Cricket in Times Square, and Charlotte's Web.

Silvana (silvaubrey) My all time favorite, por favor: The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle

How about series? Enid Blyton's Mallory Towers, St. Clare, The Naughtiest Girl and Famous Five series should be there as well.

And of course, some classics like The Secret Garden, The Call of the Wild & White Fang, The Little Prince, The Jungle Books, Peter Pan, The Complete Hans Christian Andersen Fairy Tales and Fairy Tales(Grimm).

Linda Good additions, Silvana. Well I have enjoyed speculating, but I guess it's time I took a peak at the actual list now.
