Her Majesty (hermajesty) | 122 comments my Usuals Spain, Argentina and England. not in that particular order, (but) one will disappoint, one will play good, and one will win the cup.

France, seems to have lost some their charm, after the Zidane departure.

Argentina's my team, always and forever, even if Diego Maradona is a FUCKING IDIOT of a manager.

Right now, I'd say Brazil and England are the heavy favorites, but qualifiers have proven one thing: just because you excel in the qualifiers doesn't mean you go far in the World Cup. Case in point: Argentina was the 1st team to qualify for the 2002 WC, and everyone anointed them as champs before the WC began. Yet they were eliminated in the 1st round. Brazil, on the other hand, barely qualified, and no one gave them a chance to win it all. Yet they won the 2002 WC. So there ya go.

Don't forget - December 4th is the WC draw. Mark your calendars. I'm hoping the US gets drawn with North Korea, for obvious reasons.

I think Brazil and Germany will make good runs. England has a good team, just not sure they can put it together long enough. Expect an African team to go quite aways also.

Sarah | 13814 comments Do they do the draw in SA? I'll be there by then. Does anybody need any WC tschotschkes while I'm there? Bafana Bafana T-shirts?

Sarah, the draw is held at FIFA's headquarters, but feel free to bring back some Bafana Bafana tees.

By the way, Sarah, I was mistaken - the WC Draw this Friday (which is being covered by ESPN live) will be held in Cape Town, not Zurich. If you're there, try to crash the party.

Sarah | 13814 comments Gus -- just noticed your comment. We were in Kruger by then and missed the draw, but I did take a picture of a bunch of kids who were on their way to dance at the draw. It's on my facebook, along with the stadium photos for your approval.

It's better big.

ETA: I didn't miss the draw, but we had to listen on radio since we didn't have TV. Not a good draw for Bafana Bafana, but it's not like they have a chance to go far in any case.
