I think probably some books were mentioned on the show twice, in two different episodes and that is how that happened...

Meghan wrote: "This is a great list, thanks. When did she read Harry Potter? I don't remember that at all!"There was no metion of Rory reading HP. Harry Potter was actually mentioned by Patty in s01e02 - her little ballet dancers had this book on their heads for a good bearing and Patty warned them to be careful because if the book would fall down from their heads, Harry would die! :))
Sorry for my English, not a native speaker, hope you did understand!:)
I seem to remember the WB had actually posted lists of books that Rory would be reading, and every week she had two books (one classic, one modern). Anyone recall this list or know where I might be able to find that as well? THANKS!
I actually just found it doing a Google search:http://www.listsofbests.com/list/1832...
In case anyone was interested. There's bound to be some overlap, though!
I think that list is different from the one we have been discussing. That one was made up as a representation of what Rory would read. The list on here is all the books seen or mentioned in the show - by various characters
So I said a year ago I was going to do this, but didn't, so when I say it now, I'm going to mean it: I'm going to tackle this list! There are a lot of books but I have read a few books that are on there already, and besides, it just sounds like fun :D Plus, I'm a total Gilmore Girl dork lol
I've been making lists on listopia of all books seen or mentioned. So, it's not just Rory's books, but there's one list per season (I'm almost done with the 4th season now) and if you click on my name at the bottom of each list, you can see the episode number and context for the book. There are so many different lists around that are unorganized or incomplete so I just wanted to make my own and really try to get every book seen or mentioned/referenced. Of course, some people have added books to it that I don't really think belong there, but I hope it helps, if any one is looking for the books organized by season and with context. :)
I just checked out your listopias Amanda and they are great! I'll definitely be using them as a reference for compiling my own list :)
Danielle, I have been saying for a long time that I'm going to tackle the list! I keep getting sidetracked. How are you going to approach it? Are you going to do any rereads? Are you going to skip any? I want to go chronologically and possibly reread some that I've already done, but I plan to skip some of them. I'm not a fan of many of the books mentioned later in the show because I think they got more political and trendy and got away from her love of good classics.

I had always considered myself quite well read until I came upon this list - it has blown me away! My plan is to start at the top with Jack Kerouac and work my way through one by one.If anyone else is looking for a good time to start (I have been putting it off for months!) and wants to join me then I would love to have you along for the ride and please feel free to add me as a friend :-)

That's what I had planned on doing! I would love to join in with you. I plan on picking up a copy of On the Road tonight from my library :)

I started but I have fallen off the wagon a bit. Haven't been reading as much, plus, I really wanted to read The Help LOL
Oh my goodness, Amanda! My daughter and I just checked out your listopia and area amazed at how thorough this is! We bowed to the computer (like Wayne and Garth from Wayne's World) crying "we're not worthy! we're not worthy!" Wow!
Ginny wrote: "Oh my goodness, Amanda! My daughter and I just checked out your listopia and area amazed at how thorough this is! I just want it to be as accurate and helpful as possible! I'm towards the end of the fifth season right now, so that list should be up in the next week or so.

Oi-Mate wrote: "This is going to be my 2013 reading challenge. Alongside others as well. Wish my luck =]"That's a good idea. It gives you a few months to read other books out of your system.
hi have you also tried to check this link for rory's book list http://rorysbookclub.proboards.com/in... and this too http://rorysbookclub.webs.com/ ? am doing my best to somewhat make a dent for the list but hopefully would be able to read them all.
Oh my god this seems really interesting! I really need to try this! Thanks for that amazing list :]
After a lot of hemming and hawing on my part, I think I'm going to make it an unspoken personal challenge to begin reading the books on the list. I'm going to focus on the classics, but I'll read other books from the list that interest me (such as Secrets of the Flesh: A Life of Colette). I definitely won't read the political books or the travel books and probably not any of the children's books.
Just wanted to let you guys know that I finished re-watching all seven seasons and making lists of all the books seen/mentioned/referenced. I've found a lot that are missing from other lists, but then again I'm including more than just ones Rory has read. I'm going to make some other character lists as well, like Lorelai and Jess, since they read a lot too. Also I'm sure I missed some (I can think right now that I missed the reference to Oprah's book club so I should probably go back and include those?) so if you know of any I missed or recognize covers that I didn't (like what book was Christiane Amanpour reading in the finale?), let me know so that I can make sure the covers/references match so I can put them on my spreadsheet, and add it to the listopia list if it hasn't been already! You can search gilmore girls on listopia to bring them all up! :)
