Comments?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Britney Spears? Really?
And, I'm not as out of it as I feared. I like Beyonce, Green Day, Norah Jones, etc.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I can agree with a lot on this list...Burial's Untrue was an important underground disc even if it never broke into the mainstream. And the Garden State s/t was important, too, for promoting a few bands on that disc that got bigger at least partially as a result of their inclusion...

And some of these records I like a lot so I'm glad they were included...the Wilco, Sigur Ros, Flaming Lips...and even if I don't like the Arcade Fire or The Strokes I can understand why they're included.

You know, I can understand why there's antipathy towards Britney Spears' In The Zone album on this list, but keep in mind this is a list of the most important albums, not the best. I will go on record saying that's actually a pretty good record, considering how mediocre Britney is as a singer and an overall talent. It's a rare triumph of substance over style, and I dare you not to hum Toxic. Go on. Dare ya!

Some albums I think are sorely missing on this list:

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever to Tell
Neko Case - Middle Cyclone; the fact that it was released in March 2009 shouldn't exclude this outstanding album from this list.
Bjork - Vespertine

David (bowsertheturtle) was it my mistake in not knowing every band or was there not any metal on that list? or is metal not that important?

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Mastadon is metal, in my eyes, anyway...

Metal's been pretty low on the radar this decade, it seems. Not that there hasn't been some very good metal - Mastodon included - but it hasn't enjoyed the mainstream success it once did.

Sarah | 13814 comments I like this list better than the AVClub's "Best of the Decade", though there are a few crossovers: http://www.avclub.com/articles/the-be...

The AVClub also did a Best Metal list, David.
