Danielle | 5 comments Message in a Bottle was a wonderful book. All his books are outstanding and worth reading. I recommend "The Rescue" as your next book to read...I really enjoyed that one.

message 3: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments Yeah I agree with Danielle and also you can read The guardian and A bend in a road. they are really great. Mahyar if you could watch The Message in a bottle movie to feel all those moments in the book.

Mahyar (themaninthegrayflannelsuit) | 11 comments I did watch the movie, but i hated it!

And Ive read "A Walk to remember"(It's my fave so far), "The Last Song"and "The Notebook" since i posted this thread!

Thanks for the comments.

message 5: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments I know that why you hated the movie, because at the end of movie , all the viwers expected to have happily ever after ending but they did not reach together, and about A Walk to Remember, try to watch its movie and tell me your feeling about this, because I've seen this one.

message 6: by Mahyar (new)

Mahyar (themaninthegrayflannelsuit) | 11 comments Oh i forgot to mention A Walk to remember movie, Ive watched it right after i finished the book.

It was seriously amazing.
Actors, changes and everything were perfect!.

I hated Message in a bottle, because of the actors, specially the main guy.

message 7: by Vita (new)

Vita (retro_librarian) | 38 comments Yes, I agree Message in a Bottle was not good. Kevin Costner is so lame. Not a good actor at all!

message 8: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments I think that the characters in the movie had kind of surprising for viewers , perhaps we could not believe them. perhaps I like this movie because of the book and I should not impose my idea to anyone , if I did this , I'm sorry.

Mahyar (themaninthegrayflannelsuit) | 11 comments Vita wrote: "Yes, I agree Message in a Bottle was not good. Kevin Costner is so lame. Not a good actor at all!"

I know right!

He totally ruined the book for me!

message 10: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments Kevin Costner's play is not too bad , not to able to perform, but perhaps they could not fit him in the Garet Blake's Character but Robin Wright Penn was amazing and really liked her play.

message 11: by Danielle (new)

Danielle | 5 comments Message in a bottle movie doesn't even come close to the book. The movie had parts in it that didn't even come from the book.

message 12: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments I agree, they made some parts by themselves and tried to show it more attractive than the original book.

message 13: by Katy (new)

Katy | 4 comments I haven't seen the message in a bottle movie, but loved the book, should I stay away from the movie?
A walk to remember is my favorite movie ever, it's sooo sweet. The choice is a good book too, I really enjoyed that one.

message 14: by Farzan (last edited Dec 11, 2009 08:31AM) (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments about the movie katy, members' comments are so different , for example I really like to watch this movie 1000 times because they have not digressed from main book but they have removed someb parts and add some parts which is not in the book.

message 15: by Mahyar (new)

Mahyar (themaninthegrayflannelsuit) | 11 comments I wouldn't watch the movie if I were you, Katy.

But Farzan is right, people opinions are different, you might love it!

message 16: by Nona (new)

Nona (goodreadscomnona) | 8 comments I just ordered this one so cannot wait to read.

message 17: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 14 comments I agree, Message in a Bottle was an EXCELLENT book, tho the movie was horrendous due in part to Kevin Costner's horendous acting. So skip the movie, read the book.
BUT I'd reccommend A Walk to Remember ,most definitely. It is my favorite book by him and it so happens to be one of my favorite movies. Although, the book and the movie are a little differernt, they're both fantastic in their own right. :)

Read the Wedding if you liked the Notebook.

message 19: by Paula (new)

Paula I also loved "Message in a Bottle". As a matter of fact, I've loved all of them! LOL

message 20: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (sherrij2003) | 39 comments I am starting to read Message In A Bottle today!

message 21: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (bookwoim) wow! I just love how everyone has a different opinion of the books and movies and which were better. I watched Message in a Bottle and really like it. I'm excited to read the book.
On the other hand I finished A Walk to Remember this week and was soooo disappointed. I think it was the worst of all the (6) Sparks books I've read. My daughter (17) watched the movie and read the book and said the book was way better than the movie. I'm torn now cause I don't know if I should even bother watching the movie.

What didnt you like about A Walk to Remember, it is my favorite out of all Nicholas Sparks books?
And the movie is the best!

While the movie has the same story line as the book it is completely different from it! It is set in a more modern time and some of the "bad" things they do aren't the same as in the book. I love them both, the book and the movie, as a seperate piece b/c they are so different. I love them both in their own unique way! I'd reccomend watching the movie also, it may change your perspective of the book too!

I don't know what exactly it was about Walk to Remember. I think there was too much useless information and took too long to get to the climax of the story. It was the first Sparks book that didn't make me cry. I didn't grab me right away like most of his other books. I'm gonna give the movie a shot this weekend. Thanks to all the opinions I've read above:)

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

A Walk to Remember the movie is very different then the book. I think you will really enjoy it.

message 26: by Keri (new)

Keri | 10 comments I am going out on a limb here and saying, "The Wedding"! While all his books are superb as I have come to learn and I have never read a "bad" book from him, I think The Wedding was definitely a tearjerker, right along with The Last Song!

message 27: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (sherrij2003) | 39 comments This is the third book I've read by Nicholas Sparks and it did not let me down. It was beautifully written and of course had me crying at the end.

Some people may not like his books, or so they say, because they are so predictable...however they have all been different in their own ways and all carry a different message. I loved this book and hope to read more by him very soon.

message 28: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (sherrij2003) | 39 comments Ok, I just finished watching the movie...and I was soooo looking foward to it because the book was amazing. But, I really did not like the movie at all! About half way through it I was looking to see how much time was left because it was so boring. It left out and changed so much it was upsetting (I know that they always change things from book to movie but this adaption I really did not like! A Walk To Remember was amazing as both book and movie and they were way different from each other.) I really did not enjoy it at all, I was hoping for so much more!

message 29: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments I finished the lucky one and I really thrilled to read this book because it was kind of book to attract me and I was kind of reader to follow all of the events to know what happens next. it was quit amazing to read and also imagine the scene in your mind.

message 30: by Keri (new)

Keri | 10 comments Farzan, it was a great story! I just got through reading A Bend in the Road and I loved it as well! I like to put myself in the characters mode and live the story and Sparks shocks me everytime!!!!

message 31: by Paula (new)

Paula I'm just starting "The Choice". Only a few pages in but his books always pull me right in.

message 32: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments Keri, now I'm reading "Dear John" and I've stopped reading because of some reasons and I really wanted to watch its movie but I stop to think about it because I should read the book and then watch movie.

message 33: by Keri (new)

Keri | 10 comments I think reading the book first is the only way to go in my opinion! I would definitely pick Dear John back up!!

message 34: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments Definitely, I would do that but at the same time I'm reading the lost symbol by Dan Brown who is skillful to write mystry story about history and symbolism stuff.

message 35: by Keri (new)

Keri | 10 comments Gotcha!!! Either way...Happy Reading!

message 36: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments you too.

message 37: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne I've just started this, I'm reading more or less back to back with The Noteboook.

message 38: by Brianna (new)

Brianna (briannaa) | 108 comments I just read it and the ending was sooooooooooo(emphisis on the So) sad

message 39: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne Oh I know:(I don't know why Sparks wrote it that way, I'm sure he's explained his reasons though. I know sometimes life does't deal a great set of cards and HEAs aren't always going to happen so I guess that's the way to look at.

message 40: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments I think that this is kind of story with happily never after which shocked everyones who read it. So, Brianna you're right to emphasize on the ending.

message 41: by Ren (new)

Ren | 8 comments Four words:
It made me cry.

message 42: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments Yeah, you're right Rein. it's so sad to end the story like that.

message 43: by Ren (new)

Ren | 8 comments It's good though, a piece of reality.

message 44: by Brianna (new)

Brianna (briannaa) | 108 comments i really liked it. it was one of my all timme favs

message 45: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne I have to admit I was shocked and surprised at the ending, however on reflection I think it's actually a big thumbs up to NS, after all life isn't all about HEAs, life throws **** at us all the time, if we expect a HEA in real life then I think we're setting ourselves up for a big disappointment, seize the moment and run with it it's HEA great if it doesn't work out then at least you had agreat time while it lasted.

message 46: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (sherrij2003) | 39 comments what is hea?

message 47: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne HEA ~ Happy ever after. HFN ~ Happy for now. :)

message 48: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments well Happy ever after happens less than we expect but in Nicholas Sparks novels you experience reality and toughness of life and sometimes love can not intervene , just can remind you something was between.

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) I absolutely loved message in a bottle (movie) so i decided to read the book and loved it even more, i just finished it and i cried my eyes out so much as i always do at a nicholas sparks book

message 50: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (sherrij2003) | 39 comments See I did the opposite...I read the book and loved it but when I watched the movie afterwards I really hated it (the movie).
