Shawna (airingdirtylaundry) I'm going to take this one step further and ONLY read books that I've accumulated over the years and have never cracked open. The only exceptions will be books from my neighborhood book exchange that meets once a month.

David (mugsynoir) | 5 comments I hope you make it, Shawna.

I follow too many authors that put out a book a year that I probably couldn't stick to something like that. That's why I set a target of two TBR books a month for this year. I'm fairly close so far, so I think I can do it.

Dave

Shawna (airingdirtylaundry) I've already been tempted to stray from my list and stop at a bookstore on my way home from work just to "browse". Which means leaving an hour later with $50 in new books. But I resisted. This time.

Shawna (airingdirtylaundry) one done--My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult

Shawna (airingdirtylaundry) I'm zooming right through my list. Finished Fame Junkies by Jake Halpern and Open House by Elizabeth Berg. Am currently in the middle of It's So You by Michelle Tea, The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd and Tommyland by Tommy Lee.

Shawna (airingdirtylaundry) I finished The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd last night and Tommyland by Tommy Lee this morning on the elliptical.

Shawna (airingdirtylaundry) Wow, am I straying far, far from my list. I did read Memoirs of a Geisha and Wicked since my last post. Eight down, so many to go. I'd better buckle down and FOCUS!

Shawna (airingdirtylaundry) OK, I give up. Since I know that I won't reach my goal to read this whole list in 2008, I'm stretching it out to finish by the end of 2009. If you can't reach your goal, just change the rules of the game--that's how I roll. I just get too tempted by other books. Kind of like reading everything but what's on a required reading list in school.

I am making SOME progress. . . Since my last post I read Bringing Down the House, Not Quite What I was Planning, The Bonesetter's Daughter, and The Complete Maus. Currently reading Skin City.

I've read 14 of the 48 books in 5 months, so I guess my new goal should be to read 3 from my list every month.

Shawna (airingdirtylaundry) Have finished The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver, Best Friends by Martha Moody, and A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving.

16 down, 32 to go. Still need to read 3 a month in order to make it through my list by the end of this year.
