Liesel believes that Hans Huberman's eyes show kindness, and from the beginning she feels closer to him than to Rosa Huberman. How does Hans gain Lieser's love and trust?

I agree. I think Hans does not judge her or get mad at her for mistakes. We all make mistakes or do things we can't help, like when she wets the bed. But he does not get mad, he just helps. I think by helping her read, and not making it into a bad thing also helps her learn to trust him.
Yes, and he also is patient. He lets her own her process of healing and learning to trust - to proceed at her pace and not his or what he thinks it should be. In a way, Rosa is doing the same thing though her execution is drasticaly different. Either way, Liesel comes to know she is loved by both and treasures the difference in their expression of it.
