If you like YA, you could read:

One of the Meg Cabot Princess Diaries books, but it would have to be one that takes place mostly, if not all, in Genovia (made up country).


Or if you YA is not your thing, what about:


Snow Falling on Cedars. The island setting is all made up. I read this one in college for a course and that was something that we discussed. I've also read it two other times. Very good book.

I read this in 2007 and enjoyed it. Haven't picked up the 2nd in the series, but should. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

So I was looking at the new Kate Mosse again and I now think it is not a sequel. It was described as being the same type of book. The cover was similar to that of The Labyrinth, which is why I thought maybe it was a sequel. It still sounds good, though! I was tempted to go to B&N today to get it.

I've read it and I think it would work. I don't remember if it actually states a specific place, but it's definitely fantasy and "humans" are referred to as if they're a different species.

I'll take it since it never identifies the island by name - although why anyone would want to read that book is beyond me (it's the most over-rated book ever written in my book - I hated it in high school) but to each his own I always say.

Somewhere I picked up the idea that I could use Disney After Dark by Ridley Pearson for the 2nd part of this task. So I got it from the library. But after reading the back, I wanted to double-check! It appears that part takes place at Disney World and part in some alternate reality DW?!?

Cynthia, I was wondering if I could use My Soul to Save by Rachel Vincent for the "made up world" for this task.

Let me see if I can explain this right...basically, there is this kind of alternative shadow world that is like a demon version where hellions and fiends live that mirrors our world. It is a real place that the characters do travel to throughout the novel. The world is called Netherworld.

Let me know if this would be acceptable, or if I need to try to explain it more. Thanks!
