Yuk all those windows to clean. I suppose it is 2012 in NZ and The land down under. Happy New Year day to you all, and to everyone else, who are a day ahead of us. We will have to wait until tomorrow. I am making noodles with the broth from the roast I cooked. I put the roast in the oven, no go. My oven is not working.(sigh). I will have to get a new oven. This one is 30 years old. Anyway I had to put the roast in the crock pot. I want to make BBQ pulled beef for NYD, along with cold slob(slaw) as my daughter calls it.

The juxtaposition of these two sentences led me to believe your knee (or some other significant joint) was what was infested with all that fauna.
Egad!

Spider veins and ivy leaves LOL
Just had the most hideous hot-air balloon accident in my home town (7 kms down the road). Eleven dead, including the pilot who was a couple of years behind me at primary school (saw him at the reunion last year). Other locals died, but none I knew personally (although in such a small community, I am bound to know others who do......). Count your blessings people......
Oh dear! I've always wanted to go up in one... guess I'll change my mind. So sorry about your friend the pilot, and everyone else of course.
That is something I never would do, but it is deemed safe and done as a touristy thing all the time. Thoughts to those families, Deb...
I read about it Debbie, but never associated it with you . Kind thoughts to the whole community, and to the ones who lost their loved ones.
I heard about it on the radio, Debbie, and thought of you, but it never crossed my mind that it was so close to you. What a tragedy.
Happy little girl. Looking good. Deb's I was wondering how wedding plans are going? It is this March right?
Oh wow! Gabi!! It's to the life :-).....can't stop smiling and can't wait to see the finished article!
Yes Kitty.....only 5 weeks to go........the stresses are mounting.......sorry I haven't been around much lately....getting the school year underway as well as wedding preps (I have been JOGGING NE.....un-bloody-believable) and have managed to lose 5 and a half kg so far....will buy my outfit in a couple of weeks.

Good on you, Debs! Jogging is really just a hepped-up walk, and with music on your ears, hardly noticeable (or so I "hear," as I never put music on my ears). Exciting times!
Well thank you all.....and it can only be barely dignified with the term 'jogging' NE....more like a fast smooth shuffle to reduce the impact on my sorry old knees!
Looks pretty good to me. A little further cleaning should do it right? When you switch away and come back they look quite nice. Look at the checks and not the face first, then look at the face and see what you think.
The gingham checks look good to me Gabi.....I know artists are incredibly self-critical.....but I think they look lifelike (ie unironed - just the way I would have put the dress on her!) and they seem to add movement and life. I can't believe how well you have captured the essence of her :-)
Was it suppose to be an outdoor wedding? I can't remember? It has been so long since we have been to a wedding. I am living it vicariously through Debbie.
A cold front went through the hour before our wedding (um, a few decades ago). Considering it was August, good news. Swept out heat and humidity, brought in clear skies (after the rain) and crisp Canadian air. That's what we like best about Canada -- when it shares its air.
Oh it was beautiful.....no hitches....went like clockwork. Weather was cloudy (brooding and interestingly so), perfect when you are at the top of a rugged hill with 220 degree views, temp about 20C and the wind was gale force....had to remove the veil! Best bit was that as they said their vows, a huge and bright rainbow appeared against the slate grey clouds behind them.....a frame and a blessing! I am not allowed to post any photos yet......maybe in a couple of days :-). I am knackered - reception went extremely well -venue and food and music all spot on......gotta go now....still setting house to rights (3 bridesmaids and 1 bride for 24 hours is equivalent to 1 tornado through house!).
It was the best! Not black and white Gabi....bridesmaids were in dark olive green. Sorry I haven't been round much...have been off work with a vicious gastro bug.....missed one round of Parent/teacher interviews, but hope to make tomorrow night's lot. Then it is head down to write 26 reports before Wednesday :-(
Dead right NE....so glad it waited til after the wedding!! They are just chilling at home this week Gabi.....they are going to Rarotonga in July where Kinane is to be best man for one of his groomsmen, and will stay on after the wedding to honeymoon.
OMG!! New Zealand has selected 40 books to go to the Frankfurt Book Fair.......and 2 of them are mum's!!! One previously published and one almost finished MS!! I'm sooooo proud of her!

That IS exciting. Can you tell us something about your mom and her books?

Kerry Carman.....I became a GR librarian so I could make her a GR author.....Unfolding Seasons is off to Frankfurt, as is an almost finished MS on violets. They are also taking 3 prints of her artwork to raffle on the stand....more exposure!
Her books will be there, but she won't.....she is 73 and can't sit or stand for long periods.....no good for OS travel. Her books will be on the NZ Society of Authors stand.
You could try to find them second-hand online Kitty.....Amazon or TradeMe..... I'll PM you Gabi.....
