I'm so glad I'm not the only one who didn't like it.

I can agree with that, Gabi. My women friends have kept me from falling apart on many occasions.
There is a different connect between girlfriends which is hard to completely explain...but good friends really do help us to cope and stay healthy.I've been blessed with some wonderful ones!
Debbie, I know you've told us on more than one occasion where you are in N.Z., but it keeps escaping me.
Are you anywhere near a place called Blenheim? You are on the South Island ...that I remember...the north end, isn't it?
It's OK....I didn't even feel it. However, my sister's youngest moved to Chch last weekend to study musical theatre and he watched a wall collapse onto the girl next to him. He is OK, but we are very worried about where he will be for the next day or two....hostel damaged in quake.
Just heard that too, Debbie...absolutely devastating. Thinking of you,and all New Zealanders. Australian rescue teams heading over, but I heard the Christchurch airport is closed...will make it tricky for tourists who were staying in the city...no power so everyone has to evacuate. Because it was lunchtime, many people have been hit by falling debris. I hope they can get the trapped people out soon. Some are under desks in collapsed buildings. Australian tv channels have already shown a number of rescues, let's hope help gets to those who need it. Very sad.
No, earthquakes are separate from weather Gabi. But one earthquake puts pressure on other fault lines...so this one is probably associated with last September's. But this time only 10 km from the centre of town and in daytime, so much more devastating.
I only learned of it this morning upon waking. Scary stuff, and though New England is susceptible, we seem to get only little ones -- nothing like the threat California lives under.
So sorry Debbie, I just learned about the earthquake this morning. I will keep you and your countrymen in my thoughts.
Yeah....cat bite healed well....tiny purple scar is all that is left. Why do people whinge about them Gabs? I have read very little negative feedback......
Have ditched the idea of 3G as no coverage in my area.....but think I will go with the basic Kindle 3 wifi.........body already headed for the scrap-heap anyway!!!!
That is basically my problem too Kitty....buy another bookcase for $400-$600 or spend $300 on a Kindle......
Then you can get at least 1500 books on a Kindle.I miss you around here and Gabi also. It has been very quiet lately. I know school is keeping you bogged down. Do you get spring breaks there or not? When is the wedding again I forgot if you mentioned a date or not. I bet plans are in full swing by now.
It's almost autumn here....next break is still 6 weeks away. Plans are underway for a March wedding next year. It will be small and casual....no churches or outrageous costings!
I am busy with school......older kids this year....29 of them, and I have to start writing reports shortly.....they go home at the end of this term.
The Kindle I am thinking of buying is supposed to take about 3500 books.....a library in my handbag!!!!

Every one is so busy. We still need to make a little time to say hi. Hi everyone! I love you both. So March is your fall? That will make for a nice wedding not to hot, nor to cold. Debs, Gabi is right about talking disparaging about your person. You are wonderful and still breathing.
Hahahaha!!! There is that.....AND I am actually managing to lose some of the post-menopausal flab!!
I was almost out of my mind with the ants in my old house. Even had them in a our bed. Finally I gave in and had the Poison Guy come. He sprayed once, and for the next 3 years, nary an ant. Then we moved, so I don't know how long it lasted.
STILL waiting for Kindle.....
In the meantime......climbed the Rimutaka Incline today with 110 kids aged 7-10. The gradient is 1:15 all the way with three tunnels and a quarry to get through. Last tunnel is just over half a kilometre long.....very dark and night-time!! Takes about 1 hour 45 mins each way but we had a ferocious headwind (galeforce) blowing....had to hang on to a few kids around 'Siberia' (the quarry. Here (hopefully) are a couple of pics......

I'm with Gabi. I hope there were other teachers there to help you keep all the gnats on track!
BTW - all that climb and you didn't get as high as my former house on a hill above Redlands.

Heck!!! You must have buns of steel Ruth! There were 4 other teachers and about 15 parent helpers.....Superwoman I am not!!!

You're not thinking I walked up to my house on the ridge? Migawd, woman, that's what paved roads are for.
Is that Queen Anne's Lace in #966?

Careful. Easy to spend $ and, in seconds, have the book on your Kindle like magic (magic with a bill on the credit card, that is).
Took me a while to find a wi-fi network that it would connect to.....but now registered and reading...:-D. Currently reading The King's Speech.....would have cost about $45NZ in the bookstore......downloaded from Amazon for $11!!
Welcome to the 21st century. (But I thought The King's Speech was something you viewed, not read.)
I LOVE my Kindle.....I am definitely a convert! AND the best thing is that I can't lend my precious books out now!! (I just bought Michael Parkinson's autobiography and mum automatically said, "After you".
"Sorry mum....it's on Kindle...." Heeheehee). I especially like that I can take my music and books with me wherever I go!:-)
