No more hunks in this thread thank you very much! I can't believe the school watchdog designated this thread as porn!! I may have to rename it! Any suggestions that do NOT nearly equate to well-known porn flicks?!!

Kuuuuuranuuuui...college of our hearts....let us serve you now! High school reunion over Easter.....5 of us from our third form class were there.....it was great! Even though some of us had not met up since our last reunion, the connections forged so young were still there.....only this time round it seems more important to stay in touch.....encroaching mortality or something!

message 459: by Carol (new)

Carol | 10410 comments I have no desire to go to any high school reunion. I have not seen anyone in 44 years why start now. I had three really close friends that I had lost contact with over the years . Last year we finally got in touch ,all but the fourth one . I could not find any trace of her. But the rest of us have forged ahead as if the years had not passed. It had been 25 years since the last contact. You just keep asking where did the time go.

You are right Debbie ,friendships of our youth become more special the older we get.

Even here on L&G you all are important to me. I was telling my husband the other day, if it had not been for everyone here at goodreads, I would have went crazy last year. I had several events that changed my life and you guys helped me to keep my sanity. So thanks to you all

Love
Carol(kitty)

I consider myself unreal. Even on a regular basis. Totally unreal. So don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I am a figment of your imaginations, is all.

Need a place to gripe.....I am coaching the most junior of our school netball teams (7 year olds) and it is arctic out there today......and they have not cancelled yet! What are they thinking of?!! There is a bitterly cold southerly directly off the Antarctic ice and near horizontal sleet! And the netball lady is wittering on over the radio that "Yes the babies are still playing....they are allowed to wear a skivvy in the right colour under their uniform (but no tights)". I have a problem with standing on the sideline wrapped up in 4 layers to stave off hypothermia while my little girls shiver their way around the court......this is how we breed 'em toufg downunder apparently!
There!

But it is only played indoors for internationals or nationals. Club games are outdoors.

It is a winter sport.

message 468: by Ken, Moderator (new)

It's REALLY a winter sport when played in horizontal sleet with a frozen net that doesn't move in the wind!

Debbie (sardonicprincessofcheerfulness) | 6389 comments Mod
Kind of Ruth, but no dribbling, no stepping with the ball, no long shot goals.
Luckily the weather cleared a bit....still bloody cold but only a brief shower for about 5 minutes during the game. We lost 4-2.

That appeals to me a lot. Why can't I have my cataract surgery now? I'd like to die being able to see my toes without glasses.

Debbie (sardonicprincessofcheerfulness) | 6389 comments Mod
It certainly is hard to paint the toenails without 20/20! I am only having the left ryr done so will still have short sight in the right.....maybe I'll get a monocle!!!

message 475: by Debbie, sardonic princess of cheerfulness (new)

Debbie (sardonicprincessofcheerfulness) | 6389 comments Mod
ryr???!! Eye! See how bad it is!!!!

message 476: by Carol (new)

Carol | 10410 comments LOL I thought you were a pirate. I only had to wear the patch for 24 hrs. Then two kinds of drops for ten days. I went back to work the next day after the patch was off.

message 477: by Scout (last edited Jul 08, 2010 05:36PM) (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) My ophthalmologist told me I had beginning cataracts. Didn't think to ask him, but maybe you all know. How bad does it have to get before you can have surgery? Will I have to wait until I can't read? That wouldn't be good at all.

message 478: by Carol (new)

Carol | 10410 comments I could not see at all, I had to wait on my insurance to decide when it was bad enough. The first one just went over night, I had some trauma and it just happened. The second one I had done last year and it was bad also. So it depends on your insurance . I still have to wear glasses, because I have horrible astigmatism.

message 479: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) Thanks for the reply. I just can't imagine not being able to read. I guess audiobooks would be the answer, but it's just not the same, is it?

message 480: by Carol (new)

Carol | 10410 comments No the cataract surgery is relatively simple. It takes about 15 minutes for the actual procedure. It is all the prep that takes a while.

message 481: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) Good to know the surgery is simple.

In keeping with the tread of dazed and confused, does anyone else have trouble with remembering names? I've decided not to be embarrassed when I can't remember someone's name.
