Hey guys, i should probably get around to this...
I am BookLover23 but you can call me BookLover.
I love books, and have just past the 42,000 word mark of my story that i am writing about a detective.
So....yup.
Hey Guys!!!!!

P.S I am not new!

message 111: by Noelle (new)

Noelle (crazyncpandalov3r) | 3 comments Hello World!! (sorry, it sounds awful, but i just wanted to use it just once. you know what i mean??) anyway, I'm Noelle, and.... {cheesy introduction statement here}. {elegant farewell parting statement- "parting is such sweet sorrow" or whatever it is. (Dont' even know where it comes from) } hehe nice to meet yalls. and i don't come from the south, neither. enough already.

message 112: by Miss Ryoko (new)

Miss Ryoko (missryoko) | 349 comments ...what? LOL that message made no sense. And "Parting is such sweet sorrow" is from Romeo and Juliet :-)

message 113: by Noelle (new)

Noelle (crazyncpandalov3r) | 3 comments I know I don't make sense... I just let it all out.

message 116: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Amber: you have what an author friend of mine calls "Story ADD"; you start one story with a cool idea but get distracted by a shiny new idea.

I have those same problems... I've never finished a story, and the farthest into one I've gotten is 14,000 words.

message 117: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
im actually amazed I got 42,000 words. Only half way through!!!!!!

I had the tiny idea for it, and over time more ideas gatherd up. SOmehow they got put toghther to make sense.
When i was writing it, i had NO IDEA where to start.
So i began writing another short story.
Turns outm the first chapter of that, got changed a little, to make the first chapter of my big story.
And teh character from teh short story, is now in the big story, and is my favorite character!!!!

Confusing, but i stuck thorugh.
Im pretty happy with it so far.

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Amber: That last post reminded me of a comic strip I sometimes read, and especially a particular one:

The Last Original Plot

message 119: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
Well, my story now is not too original, its pretty unique, but it has some....stereotypes? would be the word.

I have a coupe of good story ideas

message 120: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments I have good ideas, I just never go through with them.

I take pride in the characters I create, though. I have two that I am using in roleplays right now and I love them. Actually, I have THREE I'm using in roleplays that I love. I like their names, too: Slade, Dax and Leigha.

message 121: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
i like them.

message 122: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Heehee. BabyNames.com is my hero when I can't think of a good name for a character... And the names of people you know help, too: For example, I got Slade from a person my English teacher talks about all the time...

That's my favorite comic strip... I should put that on the website recommendations...

message 123: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
My names.... i just think of them, and they come naturally, depending on the character.
Every single name in the story im writing now matches the character.

message 124: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments I like choosing names that are symbolic for their meaning... The name Dax, for example, means "leader". Another one I used for a fantasy I wrote was Kiandra, meaning "magic".

It's why I don't like my name... There are too many Taylors, and all Taylor means is "tailor"...

message 128: by Jordan (new)

Jordan (flyinglogicmonkey) | 2426 comments For modern names, I use sites like babynames.com. For more medieval/fantasy, I use this. It's random name generators, and I've gotten a ton of names from here (And yes, I know it's a strange url.)

I also keep a word processor document of names...

I made up the name for my name character

message 130: by Taylor (last edited Mar 06, 2010 08:53PM) (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments May I ask what it is???

And Jordan, though the url is slightly strange, that is an AWESOME website.

message 131: by Jordan (new)

Jordan (flyinglogicmonkey) | 2426 comments Yes, yes it is. My fwiend google gave it to me :)

message 132: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments I cannot wait until the day they out Google into the dictionary as a verb....

message 133: by Jordan (new)

Jordan (flyinglogicmonkey) | 2426 comments It's already a verb...

message 134: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments In the dictionary?!

message 135: by Jordan (new)

Jordan (flyinglogicmonkey) | 2426 comments No, I don't think so. But I know a million people who say "I'll google it". Not "I'll yahoo it" or "I'll bing it"...

message 136: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments I know... But that's what I meant. You hear so many people say, "Oh, I Googled it." or "I'm Googling that when I get home." It's the same with text. Text is a noun now, but eventually it'll be in the dictionary as a verb cuz people say "Will you text him for me?" or "I was texting her last night, and..." or "I texted you, remember?"
