Linda C (libladynylindac) Finished the first of my 2 reads and am reading the 2nd.

Cake on a Hot Tin Roof (A Piece of Cake Mystery #2) by Jacklyn Brady was a fun read with quirky characters. Gave it 4 stars

Marisa (moretta) | 421 comments I've finished my other book in the series: Ripped From the Pages and I've enjoyed it too. I've only have one book left in the series (in the middle, as always ;) ) Now, let's go to the July serial

Ripped From the Pages (A Bibliophile Mystery, #9) by Kate Carlisle

Well, this was awkward.

This is the third book in the Devereaux's Dime Store Mystery series. The book begins with Dev's love triangle seated firmly at the counter of her soda fountain. Jake and Noah both are vying for her attention and she does not know which to choose. She send them on their way to host a book club at the store. The obnoxious author sets off several people that evening and is found dead the next morning.

Dev and company try to discover the murderer while Dev dithers about her love life. I do enjoy this series even with the triangle that drives me nuts. I just want her to dump Noah and get on with her life with Jake.

The mystery is always good and this is a fun read.

Review:

Attendance at the Saturday Night Prayer Circle was at an all time high, and despite our group's nickname, it wasn't because any of us had suddenly gotten religion.

A former Shadow Bend resident is back 20 years after she left town to sponsor a cupcake competition. Kizzy has made her name in the business with her unique cupcakes. Kizzy's assistant dies suddenly and several attempts are made on Kizzy. Dev gets involved and puts her own life on the line.

Another good installment in the series. I enjoy Dev's ability to get into awkward situations. The worst is that now the triangle has become a rectangle! Now there is a third guy interested in Dev. Enough already!

The mystery flows well and the murderer is not who I expected until close to the end. I look forward to the next book.

I agree Moondance. These are very good mysteries but the love triangle, now rectangle is dragging on. The author had a triangle in her Scumble River series too that went on two or three books too long. Makes me wonder if she's playing out a personal fantasy or does the publisher think annoying readers is a good idea?

It gets old very fast. I personally like Jake and want her to dump Noah.

I agree about the Scumble River romantic choice i was tired of it and since i disliked one of them, i kept wondering why SHE liked that one.

Lauren (laurenjberman) I ended up reading two books in the Harper Connelly series. I have this bad habit of not reading books that people choose for me even though I want to :0)
