Maybe best friends who start to like each other as more than friends but they don't want to admit it in case it ruins their friendship?
Harper was laying on her best friends bed writing a paper for her English class. She sighed softly as she glanced over at him as he studied quietly in front of her. They had basically known each other since they were little and it was nice to have someone to talk with and just be able to be herself with
Dean stared at his page which was covered in Maths equations that he just didn't understand. He turned his head to meet Harper's eye and then sighed softly. "Honestly Harp; this homework is ridiculous," Dean whined like a little kid, but he smiled to show he wasn't entirely annoyed. He couldn't be, not around Harper.
Harper laughed softly and nodded a little," Yeah I was just thinking the same thing Dean." She answered sitting up," how about we take a little break and come back to all of this in twenty minutes?" She suggested softly. When they were together it wasn't hard to see how much they actually relied on each other
Dean smiled and nodded. "Yeah, I think a little break would do us both some good," Dean agreed, getting up off the bed. He walked slowly over to the little drinks fridge in his room which he had gotten for his birthday last year and picked out two lemonades. "Think fast," Dean called quickly, throwing the can to Harper. ((What age are they?))
Harper nodded as she pushed her hair bak over her shoulders and watched him walk to his fridge. She grabbed the can just in time before it hit her," you know Dean one day I'm not going to catch it and you're going to hit me in the face with a can." She told him opening the can up ((I don't know maybe between 18-20?))
Dean chuckled as he walked back over to her and sat down, opening up his can with a hiss. "I doubt you'd ever miss it," Dean said. "But if you ever do, I will be right here with an ice pack," Dean teased, tapping her nose lightly before tapping a sip of his can. ((Maybe nineteen?))
Harper looked at him," don't laugh you know you would feel bad for hitting me in the face." She replied watching him with a smile," I know you would.." Harper said taking a small sip of her own lemonade as she leaned back against the wall.((Yeah that works for me))
Dean looked down with a small smile and then nodded. "Yeah, you're right," Dean agreed quietly. "I'd feel real bad," Deann agreed softly, looking anywhere but Harper. After all, he hated to see Harper upset.
Harper stared over at him as dean looked around," Ohh you haven't hit me yet and I'm sure you aren't planning to so stop worrying about it." Harper told him softly. "Cheer up."
Dean met her eye and smiled a little, before shaking his head. "Yeah, you're right," Dean told her. "I dunno what's got into me; probably all the stressful homework," Dean joked, chuckling.
Harper looked over at him and shook her head a little bit," okay well just relax.. Come on let's go for a walk so we get out of here where we do our homework." Harper suggested getting up and holding out her had for him
Dean smiled slightly and got to his feet, but he got a strange feeling as Harper held out her hand. That was the kind of thing he used to do with his ex, Jessica, before they broke up. He felt a weird sort of excitement at the prospect of holding Harper's hand, but dismissed it quickly. He took her hand, lightly squeezing it. "Come on, Harp, let's go to the park or something," Dean urged, starting to walk towards the door of his room.
Harper watche him for a little while as he got up and took her hand," Alright sounds like a good plan to me." Harper replied looking up at him
Dean returned her smile. "Then off we go!" Dean exclaimed, swinging their hands as they left.((Your post'll be at the park?))
Harper laughed softly and nodded," Yes off we go." She replied walking out of his house with him and off to the park. "Hey Dean I'll race you to the swings." Harper said lookin at him once they were at the park
Dean gave her look when she challenged him. "Deal!" Dean yelled like a little kid, before taking off into a dash towards the swing.
Harper laughed as she raced after him. Of course she had forgotten how fast he was so Dean ended up beating her to the swings but Harper was laughing the whole way
Dean launched himself onto the swing and started to move on it, smiling over at Harper. He couldn't help noticing how pretty she was when she was happy. He quickly pushed that thought away though and just got up off the swing. "Come on; I'll push you," Dean urged her.
Harper laughed softly as she watched Dean launch himself into one of the swings. She looked at him glad that they always found something fun to do together. "Ohh I'm fine by myself.. I'll swing next to you." Harper told him sitting down in the swing
Dean smiled and walked behind Harper. "But I want to push you," Dean told her gently, putting his hands on Harper's back and pushing her softly on the swing.
Harper turned her head slightly as she watched Dean out of the corner of her eye," Well alright if you really want to." She replied feeling his hands on her back
Dean chuckled and pushed a bit harder now, so hopefully her feet would leave the ground. "Remember when we came here as kids, like eleven years old?" Dean recalled, smiling slightly. "And then that guy came over and wanted me to go play football with him, but not you, because you were a girl. And I said 'No, because Harper is my best friend ever and if she can't play thatn you're just a meanie and I don't want to play with you' or something like that," Dean reminded her, not really sure why he was bringing this up.
Harper giggled softly as he continued to push her," well yeah I remember." She answered as he continued in with his story," yeah I remember that.. And the other boy thought you were weird for having a girl for your best friend." She answered
Dean chuckled again when she reminded him of what the boy had thought of him having a girl best friend. "Then he said 'fine, I'll let your girlfriend play' and we were both like 'Eww! We aren't dating!'," Dean recalled, blushing slightly at the memory. Back then, even the thought of having a girlfriend creeped him out.
Harper laughed softly and nodded," Yeah and I showed them I knew how to play football because you taught me." She answered then nodded again," yeah I remember and at least we are still best friends."
Dean nodded, still pushing her on the swing. "Yeah, you played better than most them too," Dean added with a laugh. Dean was very pleased he and Harper were still friends after so long. "Yeah, I'm glad we never lost touch," Dean agreed, smiling even though Harper couldn't see.
She smiled slightly," I dot remember that but if you say so." She replied. "I am too I don't know how I would have managed all of high school without you to keep me alive." Harper told him
Dean smiled a little sadly. "Of course, you wouldn't remember your football achievement skills," Dean commented with a small laugh. Dean squeezed Harper's shoulder slightly when she said she didn't know how she would have survived high school without him. "Well, you can thank me at some point, when I cash in the favour," Dean said jokingly, though he was going to count on a favour at some point.
Harper stopped her swing and turned slightly so she was looking at him," hey at least I can still throw a football." She replied then smiled," Ohh should I be scared about this favor?" He asked
Dean smiled and nodded. "Yeah, I guess that's something," Dean admitted slowly, teasing Harper. Dean shrugged and ruffled her hair slightly with his hand. "It depends on what scares you, Harp," Dean said. If the idea of spending the night at mine watching movies and stuff scares you then yeah, Dean thought.
He and Harper had never once had a sleepover. Well, except one time when her parent's were out of town when they were around thirteen. Still, she slept in the guest room.
