Please help! Searching for book titles

Ok- I read 2 books about 10 years ago and never wrote down the titles or authors. I don't vividly remember either book but they have stuck with me over the years. Please help if you can!

The first is historical fiction, set around 12-1300? I know the main character starts as a young girl who is married at about 12 to an older knight. I remember at breakfast after the wedding they hung the bedding behind them to prove they had consumated the marriage. I remember that although she liked her husband, she was always in love with a younger man. When her husband died, she was able to marry the man she actually loved and had many children with him. I think his name might have been Will? I know I don't have many details but like I said, it stuck with me and I'd love to read it again if I could find it.

The other book I'm looking for is by an author whose name starts with M. I thought her name was Meryn, or Merrin, or Marion. Something like that. She wrote memoirs, and this particular book was about herself and her husband and her two sons. I believe they moved to Arizona. She writes about being conflicted as a mother, how she used to be a free spirit and drug user, and now she's this other person. I think her family had moved to be closer to her mother who was sick. I remember that she also wrote poetry, but her name and the title of the book escape me.
