The Masks of Monsters

My first novella is titled 'The Masks of Monsters' and is set in 18th century France and England. It follows Darius, a young Englishman who commits a heinous murder and flees on a self-imposed exile. He encounters Aeron, a monstrous French vampire who snatches him away from the world he once knew and hurls him into a new one full of demonic creatures and merciless warlords. So it is he fights to escape this terrible world as well as the monster he has become. But he isn't the only one. Aeron, though renowned throughout the underworld of France for being the paragon of his race, battles the flicker of doubt that emerges in himself. It has been so long since he was human and for so long he has soaked in death without mercy, shielding himself away from the guilt and regret but he realises that the time has come for him to stop hiding.

I wrote this book because at some point in our lives, we act on fear and make mistakes to protect the things we care for and love. Sometimes, because of those mistakes, people build a walls around themselves to protect their hearts from the painful consequences. It's the first step toward becoming something monstrous. In 'The Masks of Monsters' I attempt to explore that first step. The lies, anguish and hatred some suffer to hold the mask upon their faces. I attempt to explore the lengths some go through for the things they cherish the most.

This book's main purpose for me as a writer, is to introduce readers to a world I am trying to build. It is a part of a larger series I am still in the process of writing.

This book sounds interesting although I noticed there is a difference in page numbers on here and Amazon. Here on Goodreads your Kindle page number is listed at 37 pages whereas on Amazon it says 82 pages.
