The second book was heartwrenching. Dragonfly Daughter available through Amazon and Authorhouse by Violet Rose is an honest account of the struggles a MTF went through in order find herself. It shows how transgendered people are considered disposible people. This poor woman lost all her friends, relatives and business aquantances just by admitting who she was. Very traumatic but a good read none the less.
Rsoemary Chaulk Author Nissitissit Witch

Like some others here, I recently read THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL and enjoyed it, as I have every Phillipa Gregory book I've read. My husband and I visited Kent, England this summer and toured Hever Castle, the home of the Boleyn family. It was fascinating to see it after reading the book and before seeing the movie, which has a few brief shots of parts of the castle.

What did you think of the series?
I have read Uglies and Pretties but then I got discouraged by the ending of Pretties I think..so I just stopped. Is it worth it to continue? Did you enjoy the series?..I think I liked Zane's character so much that when he got hurt in Pretties (or he was very sick..I don't remember) I was mad and didn't think I would enjoy the next book in the series.

I thought so=/ Thank you=]

I've just finished 'Petite Anglaise' by Catherine Sanderson. It is based on her real life blog.

THE ASCENT OF MONEY by NIALL FERGUSON - Excellent read about the history of money and what has happened in the past that's relevant to today's current economic morass - goes up to May 2008

1. A Doll's House, Ibsen. Perfect, not an extra word.
2. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. witty, acidic.
3. The Knife of Never Letting Go. astute, scary, suspenseful
4. The Inferno, Dante Alighieri. beautiful, mesmerizing.

1.The Arrival by Shaun Tan (wordless graphic novel)
2.Coraline by Neil Gaiman (YA)
3.Runaway by Alice Munro (short stories)
4.Orange Mint & Honey by Carleen Brice (love and forgiveness)

a great book combining the philosophy of travel with various concepts concerning art and philosophy plus recounts effect of travel on various artists like Van Gogh, Bauderlaire, Hopper and a number of philosophers view of travel
emphasis on noticing vs just seeing
will read before any new travels
finished THE HOUR I FIRST BELIEVED by Wally Lamb
intense book concerning Columbine shooting effect on a fictional character -good but a over the top on number of calamities that happen to main characters

2) Chicken Soup for the Soul on Love and Friendship
3) French women don't get fat

Enders Game by Orson Scott Card
I thought it was going to be another sci-fi heavily written for the male audience, but I enjoyed it. It had lots of action and depth I liked it.

tremendous book about what real trouble/tragedy can be
KILLING CASTRO by Lawrence Block
spare language, lot of communication about just what the title is and good information about Castro at his beginning
THE INFERNO by Dante
I just hope I don't make it there -how these punishments were in his mind is beyond me but the language is so evocative that even the subject matter is sometimes secondary

STILL ALICE by Lisa Genova - good fiction book about Alzeheimers told from an early onset disease viewpoint with a lot of information and insight

I finished a couple this week- "The Postman Always Rings Twice" by James M. Cain and "The Alcoholics" by Jim Thompson, which is one of his weirder books, and if you're familiar with Thompson, you know that's saying something.

You will love the books I do!!

A Person of Interest Susan Choi
A Real Basket Case Beth Groundwater
Breath, Eyes, Memory Edwidge Danticat

The Big Over Easy by Jasper Fforde
Nemesis by Agatha Christie
No One Belongs Here More Than You by Miranda July
Currently working on Master and Commander by Patrick O' Brien

Good imitation of fairy tales, an interesting look into Dumbledore's character, a good look into some of the attitudes that underlie wizarding culture. I am surprised by how well the fairy tales of this book stand on their own, not just as small bits in the massive Harry Potter universe. I loved reading Dumbledore's part after each story though. How I MISS the Harry Potter series though!! It was pretty bitter sweet. But put something that has to do with Harry Potter in front of me and I will gobble it down with a smile.
