I just finished "All I Could Bare: My Life in the Strip Clubs of Gay Washintong D.C." by Craig Seymour. It only took me 2 days and a morning to finish the book. It was a great book. Totally reccommend reading it.

I just finished White Smoke, by Andrew Greeley, which is a novel about intrigue surrounding the election of a pope. Not a deep read, but a fun one.
I've finished:1. Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult
2. Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill
3. The Book of the Dead by Douglas Preston
I liked them all, but the Picoult book was the best!
I just finished MIDDELSEX which was a great book. I also just read EYE CONTACT by Cammie McGovern. Also a great read. I am now reading ATOINMENT. Not too sure about it yet, but will keep on reading.
I agree, I tore through that book. I haven't found another book by the author that I have been able to get into as easily. Have you read her other books?
The Unthinkable by Amanda RipleyIt's about the decision arc that humans travel during a disaster. I was fascinated.
It was also an easy read. I think it would be a good book club book because it looks easy to discuss.
I finished ATONEMENT. I enjoyed it. Now I am starting CAPTAIN CORELLI'S MANDOLIN by Louis de Bernieres.
I couldn't get going in Corelli's Mandolin - just too slow I guess...would love to read Atonement soon but am finishing "Exodus" and will start "The Shack" after that. I can't go into a bookstore without buying a new book - even though I might be broke. I'd rather go without lunch and buy the book! Is that crazy????Mindy
No, Mindy, you aren't crazy. You are book crazy like the rest of us! I've been spending a LOT of my time now at the library since I'm too broke to buy anymore (I recently became a teacher), but I hate having to give the books back! My husband doesn't understand my need to own the books (especially since we have stacks of them all over the house). I'm glad there's a group here devoted to all of us crazy book owners!
I just finished reading "My Miserable, Lonely, Lesbiian Pregnancy" by Andrea Askowtiz a few minutes ago.
Wasn't Plain Truth by Picoult great, Cathy? It's the first book I read by Picoult and it got me into her work. I finished reading 'A Different Journey' about a week ago - it was a memoir that really got me thinking. D'Arcy has led such a different life from me - I have to admire him for his dedication and determination.Dianne Ascroft,
'Hitler and Mars Bars'
Just finished The Sorrow of Belgium. Great book!
Ok, I am afraid I am going to have to put down CAPTAIN CORELLI'S MANDOLIN. I just can not get into it and I have way too many other books I want to read! I am not going to suffer through one that I don't like. Now, which one is next...?
I just finished Irish Lace by Andrew Greeley. Gave a glimpse into how the Irish speak & what they think of America. I would say this is a historical/love fiction book.
I just finished reading The Fiery Cross and liked it as much as I've liked Diana Gabaldon's other time traveler series books. They're so long, though, that I really will have to wait awhile and work up the nerve to start the next one.I'm now reading Eat, Pray, Love for my Book Club, and boy, is that woman a drama queen. I just couldn't live my life like she does. Too much excitement for me! I like reading about the Italian meals she's eating, though. :)
I just finished P.S. I Love You, by Cecelia Ahern. I wasn't impressed. Good story, just not as well-told as it could've been.
I just finished reading Girl With a Pearl Earring. My first historical fiction novel and it was pretty good. The plot slower and calmer than what I'm used to, but I followed along with the time period okay enough.
I just read Gene Kelly: A Life of Dance and Dreams...I thought it was great. There wasa lot about Gene Kelly I didn't know. Stardom didn't come easy for him. He had to agressively go after roles...What a great talent!
Last Night I finished The pact for jodi picoult. and before that one, I finished 1000 splendid suns.
I stayed up late last night finishing The Friday Night Knitting Club. It was great! It's been a long time since a book has gotten reactions from me like TFNKC did. I actually cried in the end. Amazing!
Finished THE DANGEROUS DAYS OF DANIEL X by James Patterson. Very good ya book. Going to make a series of it I am sure.
Yesterday I finished "Die Reiterarmee" (Red Cavalry) by Isaak Babel, very good book. Recently I "discovered" bulgarian literature (some great writers like Vladimir Zarev, Dejan Enev and Dimitre Dinev - they wrote three of the best books I have read in the last years).
I just finished "Bound". A good read but I felt the ending was very bland. I did not feel the epiphany that the main character should have expierenced.
Responding to Sandra "I just finished "Bound". A good read but I felt the ending was very bland. I did not feel the epiphany that the main character should have expierenced."If that's the "Bound" I'm familiar with, I think you'd find that in this one instance the movie is better than the book.
It was Sally Gunning's "Bound". Did you also find the ending lacking?
"FRUIT HUNTERS" BY GOELLNERGOOD BUT TOO LONG/TOO MANY LISTINGS BUT I'VE ALREADY STARTED EATING BETTER FRUIT -MORE EXPENSIVE BUT WORTH IT
STARTED "TRAFFIC" BY TOM VANDERBILT
ENTERTAINING AND INFORMATIVE
EXPLORES WHY PEOPLE DRIVE LIKE THEY DO FROM SOCIOLOGICAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL VIEWPOINT
Just finished reading The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I really liked it, in fact I found it difficult at first to choose a book to follow it with. It was that engrossing.
I finished "The Pillars of the Earth" (phew!) what a read. I am not sure if I am going to start a jodi picoult or something else on my tbr pile all over the house.
I just finished A thousand Splendid Suns.
It was pretty good not as good as Kite runner but good.

I just finished the second installment of the Mortal Instruments series..."City of Ashes" by Cassandra Clare.
I just finished reading The Cellar by Richard Laymon & I am now reading The Beast House also by Richard Laymon (which Im about finished with.)
I finished THE BOOK THIEF and also finished FRACTURED by Karen Slaughter. Now am reading THE BRIEF WONDROUS LIFE OF OSCAR WAO.
I finished "The Country Girls" by Edna O'Brien and really enjoyed it. I'll search out more of her work.
I just finished "The Condition" by Jennifer Haigh. Loved it! Last week I read two by Jonathan Tropp: The Book of Joe and How to Talk to a Widower. Great books.
Hi, I just finished reading "Cost: A Novel", a very compelling tale of one family's struggles to save the youngest son from heroin addiction. Yeah, I know it sounds grim...but very readable, nonetheless.
You all have read some great books lately. I really loved Eat, Pray, Love and I enjoyed The Time Traveller's Wife. I didn't mind Splendid Suns but for me it didn't even compare with The Kite Runner.I'm currently reading Shantaram and although it's taking me a while to read because I can't seem to find the time at the moment I am caught up in this book, the people are amazing and really funny sometimes.
