I haven't read "My Side of the Mountain", but I also like post-apocalyptic books. Some of my favorite are YA - the Ashfall trilogy is one of my all time favorites. I also enjoyed Gone series. A stand-alone book is Not a Drop to Drink, and another, NOT YA, is To The Survivors. Another YA one is Monument 14 series. I like ones where disease (man-made, usually) kills most everyone - like The Release series, Vacancy, and of course The Stand. One series that has a strong female character is Tent City and Red River.
Hope this helps!

Hi Donna,
I never read My Side of the Mountain but if you are looking for a more reality-based post-apocalyptic/dystopian, you should try A Gift Upon the Shore

You may note that I gave some of these books 4-5 star ratings, but, that's more so that Goodreads will recommend similar books than it is an endorsement of how I actually feel about the books.
