Javier (palchetti) | 32364 comments Hello, I’m afraid zines aren’t considered eligible for Goodreads, so librarians won’t be allowed to add one for you.

I’m sorry to disappoint.

ayla autumn | 3 comments Hi Javier, thanks for the note.

In this case, I believe the publication fits Goodreads’ second exception under “Magazines”: “Periodicals without ISBNs but substantially similar to books, defined as literary magazines valuably contributing or dedicated to literature, regardless of binding.” It’s a literary magazine dedicated to literature and is presented more like a book than a zine issue.

Javier (palchetti) | 32364 comments The last item on that list explicitly forbids zines without exceptions.
I will ask other librarians about this though. Could you tell me a bit more about this item and its content? The description provided in message #1 is rather vague.

Hi Javier, thanks for following up and for checking with the other librarians.
“Ocho pequitas” is not a zine/issue or a periodical. It’s a standalone poetry chapbook (a small poetry collection) published as a 46-page, perfect-bound paperback. There is no issue number, no ongoing series, no periodic release schedule, and no advertising/editorial sections typical of zines or magazines.
Content-wise, it’s a cohesive sequence of poems (with a few very short prose fragments) about a relationship, its aftermath, and the way memory gets “excavated” over time—grief, tenderness, rupture, and the physical traces people leave behind. The book also includes a small number of author-made images (photographs/scans of personal objects) integrated as part of the poetic narrative, more in the way of an illustrated poetry book / artist’s book than a magazine layout.
Language: the texts are in Spanish and Catalan (bilingual content within the same volume). Genre-wise, it would fit under Poetry / Contemporary Poetry (and, if needed, “Illustrated poetry” or “Artist’s book” as a format descriptor).
If this still falls under Goodreads’ exclusion for zines regardless of format, I understand—just wanted to clarify that it’s intended and produced as a book-length poetry publication rather than an issue-based zine.
