Hi,

I just joined your group. I started a goodreads account yesterday to keep track of all the books I keep telling myself I'm going to read. Most of them are Christian , classics and otherwise. I'm excited to have a group of people to share this with.

So...what are we reading? Shall we start a book-of-the-month discussions, or something like that? Let me know what you think.

-Rachel

Katie | 3 comments I like the idea of a book of the month.
What are you reading at the moment? I just finished The Purpose Driven Life. Very good - but I think it might need re-reading to make sure it all goes in...!

Llama Castillo | 2 comments Discussing a book for the month would be good, I have already read purpose driven life and I am currently reading Miracles and Sex Isn't The Problem Lust Is by Joshua Harris, then I am moving on to C.J. Mahaneys Disciplines For Life. I am open to any other book suggestions though.

Angie Hello all. I am fairly new to goodreads. I would definitely be interested in a book of the month.
Right now I am reading "Cure for the common life" by Max Lucado and "Believing God" by Beth Moore and "Total money makeover" by Dave Ramsey

Hello Folks! I have also joined this group recently and would enjoy participating in the book discussion. This is not necessarily a suggestion for a place to start but as a first-time author, I would be very interested in the honest critiques of a new title that fits in the mainstream Christian Living genre. If anyone would be interested, the book is: “Moments of Forever: Discovering the True Power and Importance of Your Life.”

Susan (susanrohrer) | 3 comments Hellooo...anybody home? It sure looks like a long time since the last post, but I'm new to Goodreads and thought I'd check in here. There are some classics that have had a lasting impact on me (and contributed to my journey in writing the book below), but one that really stands out for me is Brother Lawrence's The Practice of the Presence of God. Is that a favorite for anyone else? :-)Susan

David I just read Practice of Presence of God a few weeks ago. Getting a Kindle has pushed me into classics since you can get them for free or $1. I also read Bernard of Clairvaux's On Loving God and Wesley's Plain Account of Christian Perfection. All three of those struck some similar themes.

Not sure if it counts as a "Christian" classic, but I have been reading lots of Dostoyevsky this summer which is AMAZING.

Suaan, I am new to goodreads and was searching for the right spot so I'm in with you now. I have been reading Max Lacaudo's books lately and I have found them very uplifting. I'd like to mention a few of my favorite books. some may be old but they are the goodies. 1.The Faith of our Fathers(What America's Founders Really Believed by Alf J. Mapp 2. Father Joe by Tony Hendra 3.The last Lecture by Randy Pausch.

My favorite reads are about people who share their stories of survivial like Against All Odds by Scott Brown, and The Promise of Hope written by Edward Grinnan.

I hope I haven't scared you off with all my jabbering. I just want to find so kindred spirits who are reading the same kind of books I am.

Hi, Carole. I'm a Max Lucado fan, too. Since you like true stories of survival, I'm wondering if you've read Corrie Ten Boom's classic, The Hiding Place.
