I know, right?

Of course, there will be consequences if I'm failed... ;)

Laurel I loaned it to a friend who also read it in a single sitting. Not that this guarantees you'll like it, but now there are two of us?

I do hope you like it. If anything, it will be unique!

Unfortunately, my library doesn't have it, so I'm not sure when I'll get around to it.

Andreas Deathbird Stories, a story collection from Harlan Ellison. I highly recommend it - my review is here.

Nyssa | 2023 comments I'm only half way through, but I see why so many have noted that Magic Strikes, book 3 of the Kate Daniels series, is one of their favorites. A perfect mix of sarcastic humor, suspense, flirtatious romance, and serious ass-kicking!

But right now I'm feeling a little burned out in general so Ive not been reading.

(((Hugs))) to you both. I hope you're able to get your reading mojo back. I know, first hand, how sucky it is when it goes away.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I've been reading The Stand for days now - the 'original' edited version, because I've never read that one. It's still good... but it feels incomplete to me. Like there are references to things that were cut out, and the references weren't fixed to make the story more coherent. Weird.

And MAN... there were a freaking shit ton of editing issues in this edition. BAD.

I hear that can be a common problem for men sometimes. Hang in there.

Philip Dodd (philipdodd) | 6 comments I am almost half way through reading The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro. I was drawn to it because it is set in England, long ago. There are fantasy elements to the story, including ogres and a dragon called Querig, but it reads mostly like a work of poetic, historical fiction. Some of it reminds me of the Anglo-Saxon epic poem, Beowulf. There are tribes of Saxons and Britons in the story. Sir Gawain, the last remaining of the knights of the court of King Arthur, is on a quest to be the slayer of the dragon, Querig, and is my favourite character in the book so far. It is a good book, rooted in history and superstitions, well worth reading.

Nyssa | 2023 comments I've opted to take a bit of a break from the worlds of Ilona Andrews, and am currently reading the Chobits series - Chobits: Omnibus, Vol. 1 (a reread) & Chobits: Omnibus, Vol. 2 (a new read).

So far, my enthusiasm has dimmed a bit from my original reading of volume 1, but not so much so that I won't continue reading. I'd actually like to complete the series this summer.

Oh! I wonder if I can find it on Crunchyroll. I don't usually watch anime, because I prefer the closed caption versions to the dubbed versions, but closed caption is, at times, too quick for me to follow.
I'd be willing to give this one a try, though, since I'm reading the manga version first.
I just finished Volume 2 of Omnibus 1.
