This is a book I published in September 2011 which is the beginning of a series I'm working on. The book is currently being read and recorded for eaudiobook capabilities. It's available only on Kindle at the moment. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13...

message 4866: by Scott (new)

Scott Seldon (srseldon) | 4 comments My name is Scott. I am a science fiction writer. Currently I have two ebooks published through Smashwords.

Many people think about science fiction and imagine Star Wars or Star Trek. That is not me. I'm not telling some grand story or how things are going to be so much better in the future. I write about people. I hope that we can change a few cultural things, but when it comes to human nature, I am very confident we won't. So I tell stories of people, average ordinary people in unusual circumstances, but set in the future.

I was inspired by Han Solo and Isaac Asimov's Foundation Traders, as well as the men an women who man the trucks, trains, and ships that carry good around the world to create a SF universe based on that and to concentrate my story on the people who keep things going.

I am also a big fan of old movies. TCM is one of my defacto channel choices (along side Science, History, and Cooking channels). I spend a lot on my cable bill because I want all the movie options. But my favorite era for movies was the 1930's. The movies are about people.

So if you have an interest in books about people and don't mind a science fiction setting, check out my titles, Well of Dreams and Edge of Hyperspace.

Michelle Pickett (michelle-pickett) Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your group, Rick. I'm excited to meet everyone and discuss one of my favorite things...books.

My name is Michelle. I'm a stay at home mom and full time author. I'm orginally from Michigan, but now live in Texas in a small town near Houston. I have four children, a 125 pound "lap" dog and a grumpy cockatiel that keep me busy.

I love reading and enjoy all types of genres. So I'm looking forward to the discussions in the group. :)

Not only do I love to read, I also love to write. My debut novel, Concilium, and its sequel, Concilium: The Departure, will be released this year in e-book format (July and November) Both books are published through MuseItUp Publishing.

My debut YA book will be published through Spencer Hill Press in June of 2013. You can learn more about my writing at: http://www.michelle-pickett.com

I look forward to meeting you all. Thank you for letting me be part of your group.

Lory Kaufman (lorylory) | 1 comments I was very pleased to receive an invitation to this diverse group. I am the author of the History Camp series, futuristic fiction that includes time travel, history, artificial intelligences, sword fights, love stories, allusions to Shakespeare, ancient technologies, futuristic technologies, poetry, high adventure and potty humor. While it is marketed as young adult literature, when I am writing I think of three readers. One is a precocious thirteen-year old, the other is one-hundred-and-thirteen, and the other . . . is me.

What I've found really helpful about discussion groups is finding interesting reads that I wouldn't found otherwise.

If there's anyway I can be of help to the group, just ask.

Cheers

Amy Shojai (amyshojai) | 22 comments Hello folks, Thanks to Rick for the invite. I'm a multi-published nonfiction author of cat and dog care/behavior books from first aid to Chicken-soup-icity, kitten care to old-fogey pets. *s* AND I just sold my first thriller (which includes a service dog as a viewpoint character) called LOST AND FOUND scheduled for Fall release.

I love talking pets, reading books, and meeting new people. Since I'm at deadline on (mumble-mumble) too many projects, my visits may be hit-and-miss but I've subscribed to digest of the discussions and will respond and participate as I can.
