Rick,Thanks for the invitation. This is the first group I've joined in more years than I can count. I hope I can add something to the discussion that will be worthwhile to those around the table.
I'm currently reading The List, by JA Konrath, because I haven't been his greatest fan - that poorly based opinion is going out the door of my mind with every page I turn.
I just finished Mirror Image a novella by Richard McCullough which I found most enjoyable.
I'm also reading Round the Bend by Nevil Shute which I've read at least once a year since I found it in 1980.
And I'm rereading the entire Spenser series by Robert Parker because his dialog is second to none.

So happy to welcome you Bert
Parker could say in a few words- brilliantly what so many "Bestselling" writers take pages to say..badly
Elmore Leonard is another master at saying so much without need to write so much

Hi everyone. Thanks, Rick, for inviting me to join. My name is Allan. I am the author of seven novels of international intrigue (www.AllanTopol.com). My newest novel, THE CHINA GAMBIT, was released January 2. In that novel, Craig Page-a daring and resourceful CIA Agent now fighting terrorism in Europe-is determined to find out who killed his daughter, Francesca, a reporter who was on the trail of the biggest story of her young career. Joined by the gutsy Elizabeth Crowder, Francesca's editor, Page peels back the conspiracy layer by layer, ultimately learning that a rogue Chinese General named Zhou has a partner in the scheming CIA Director, Kirby, who once forced Craig out of the Agency.Among my favorite suspense writers are Graham Greene, particularly THE HONORARY COUNSEL, the early Ken Follet, such as THE KEY TO REBECCA, and the early Frederick Forsythe. I recently re-read his FOURTH PROTOCOL and was very impressed again. As you can tell, my taste runs to thoughtful suspense, not books that leave dead bodies on every page. I also like books that have international locals and use those extensively in my own novels.
Thank you, Rick for the inviation to join the group. I am a suspense/thriller author. My first title The Cyclops Conspiracy will be released February 1st. You can check out my website: http://daveperry.org/ The title is currently listed #17 on Amazon's eBook Suspense Thrillers Best Seller list (free). Participating in discussions will be great fun.
hi friends. i am an author from the island of cyprus in the mediterranean. lately, people started thinking that we are rich because we found natural gas quantities but this does not apply to normal people. Many people here are poor as everywhere, the crisis curse is upon us like everywhere in the world. meet me at my blog www.tsiailisworld.blogspot.com and find links there for my facebook or twitter pages. or you may be directly informed about my books on my website www.jigsawfiction.com thank you for reading me, i read you the same all the time.
Greeting to you all. My name is David Black. I'm an ex-reserve SAS soldier who has now hung up his para boots and 9mm MP5 in search of pastures new. I've turned to the more sedate and peaceful lifestyle of thriller writing. I would like to thank Rick for his kind invitation to join, and look forward to exchanging views and news with members in the future.
To date it's been a fascinating and sometimes highly dangerous journey through life and perhaps if I may, I will begin sharing some of my thoughts and experiences with you soon.
Until then, best wishes
DB
WELCOME DB!Kudos to you! Having read about David Stirling, Jock Lewes, and one of Andy McNab's books, I have the utmost respect for the SAS and its outstanding achievements over the past 70 years.
Good luck with your new career as a novelist.

I'm a newish member. I've been lurking but not posting for a couple of weeks now. I have been an avid reader since my grandma challenged all of her grandchildren to read a list of 100 books, in return for $100. I was the only one who completed the challenge and have been hooked on reading ever since. I joined goodreads in September, after years of babbling on and on about what a great book I had just read and finding that most of my friends wanted to beat me with said book. I instantly loved having people to share the joy a good book brings with.
I don't really have a favorite genre of books. I read almost anything. I'm not a huge fan of self-help or mystical books though. Lately I've found myself in a pattern of reading books about underpriviliged classes in foreign countries. So anyway, I guess that's me. Glad to be a part of this group.
Thanks for finding me, Rick. What a wonderful group you have here. Hello everyone. Pleasure to meet you. My name's Robert Gray. I'm a reader who writes books so he can buy more books to read. I recently released my first novel EVE HALLOWS AND THE BOOK OF SHRIEKS, which is a children's book appropriate for ages 9 and up.

Hi Karen. welcome. And welcome to all I've missed in the last week.
Karen you may like Cambria Hebert's work (if you haven't already read her books). I won't add links as it seems spammy, just thought I'd mention her name. That's o.k isn't it Rick?
:) Georgina.

Hi Karen :) I love Urban Fantasy myself. Have you read Jessa Slade? Fabulous author. I believe her first book was Seduced by Shadows
Hello all! I'm Jen & I'm a fantasy writer from London - thanks muchly for the invite, Rick! As you can probably guess, I read a lot of fantasy, but I'm also fond of horror and a dash of SF. Reading Bernard Cornwell's Afred the Great series at the moment & loving it, so I suppose I like historical fiction too. If you're interested in what I write, I have a sword & sorcery novella out at the moment, the first in a four part series. It's fantasy with an emphasis on the pulp ;)

hi, Richard, I'm definitely going right to Amazon to look for both your books there-especially The Camera Guy! I think writing novels-and reading of course-is the ideal "retirement life."

Thanks for the invitation! I am an author of oddball pulp-adventure novels and short stories. The first volume of "Tales of the Black Centipede" was published in 2011 by Pro Se Press. "Creeping Dawn: The Rise of the Black Centipede" has enjoyed some modest success, and the second installment will be coming out late this year. I have several other projects in the works, and 2012 looks to be a very productive year!http://theblackcentipede.blogspot.com...
Hi all. Thanks to Rick for inviting me in here. I can't promise you'll see a lot of me but will do my best.
I'm a Melbourne (Australia) based writer. I call my stories Dag-Lit because I like to think they stand out from the crowd (dag is Australian slang for someone uncool and unfashionable, but usually in a genial and funny kind of way. You might think of them as comic fantasies or modern fairytales for the young or young-at-heart.
I have two ebooks out at present - Doodling and Flidderbugs. I hope to have a third available by April, titled Magnus Opum.
Cheers.
Hello and thanks for the invite to the group.I am reading CAtch-22 at the moment although finding it hard to commit time to reading as much as I want to because of a new job. Enjoying the book so far though (quite funny).
My favourite reads include A Fine Balance by Mistry, The Third Life of Grange Copland by Alice Walker and a few others.
My degree was in Medieval Literature so there are a lot of reads for the Middle Ages on my bookshelf.
Hope to meet some nice people here. :-)
Hello everyone! I'm new here. I want to thank you for the invitation!A little about me: I'm a college student finishing up my B.S. in Biology with a genetics and development focus. Reading is my most beloved hobby outside of science. I enjoy all kinds of books, but these days I mostly read urban fantasy and a little romance.
I also have a blog which houses the full versions of my book reviews: http://readingtopenguins.blogspot.com/ Stop by to visit any time! I look forward to being a part of this community!
Here are a couple of other links. Here's a free, complete Black Centipede short story, "Wisconsin Death Trip":http://theblackcentipede.blogspot.com...

Thanks for the invite Rick.A little about me: I live in London, read a lot, and write quite not as much as I read. My tastes tend to lean towards alternative, but not the exclusion of mainstream ... I just like odd or unusual storytelling.
I have a couple of ebooks currently available, Punchline and Cellar Door. Cellar Door is free today (Friday 27th) on Amazon, if anyone feels like grabbing a copy.
Cheers,
Paul.
Thanks for the invite Rick! Name is David Smith-Dave is fine-author of three books of fiction-Saskatchewan, They Ate Peaches, Torture in the Garden of Eden. Known in some parts as El Lobsterino-long story! Generally grumpy, cynical, incredibly private. However, I am learning.
Marginally sane only because I write-some good they say-some crap they say-never indifferent.
Steinbeck, Vonnegut, Charles Bukowski my authors.
