Marita Hansen (maritaahansen) | 6 comments Hi, I just discovered this discussion forum today. Yes, I joined the group a little while ago, but I didn't really understand how things worked on here. Anyway, my name is Marita and I'm a new author. I've just published BEHIND THE HOOD this month. Here's the Amazon connection: http://www.amazon.com/Behind-Hood-ebo...
It's also on Smashwords and you can see it in my profile on Goodreads. It's gritty realism, a full-on, very fast-paced read about the rough side of life in New Zealand. Here's my blogsite: http://maritaahansen.blogspot.com/
I hope to chat more with you. Cheers.

Hi everyone, my name's Emma, I'm from the UK and I'm preparing to self-publish my debut novel this Autumn.

I joined the group a little while ago but, as I'm still getting the hang of forums, I'm only just feeling like I can manage contributing regularly - slowly but surely I'm getting the participation thing under control! :)

I love all sorts of books but tend to go through phases - at the moment I'm soaking up loads of dystopia.

message 3412: by Jason (new)

Jason Koivu Hello! Thank you for the invite to the group. I'm a reader of many different genres, though lately I've been a little heavy on the biographies and history. I'm also a writer just finishing up two books. One is a character driven, man-vs-his-inner-demon action/adventure in a light/realistic fantasy setting. The other is non-fiction, based on a murder trial with some odd details. Guess that's enough for now. Thanks again! - Jason

I currently have several books published, some by independent presses, others self-published, though I am currently seeking an editor for some of my self-published works to give them a more polished feel.

Please feel free to check out my books and their reviews on my Goodreads page, and keep on the look-out for give-aways!

God bless, happy reading, and may you be inspired!

Robert (booklover_83) | 31 comments Hi Everyone! My name is Rob and I got my invite last night. I used to be an avid reader growing up and it went away when I went to college and textbooks were basically most of what I was reading. I have just gotten back into my reading and have a goal of 20 books (no re-reads if possible) by the end of this year. I am confident I can do this!

Carolyn Moncel (carolyn_moncel) | 5 comments Hello all, I also want to thank Rick for the generous invitation. I am a new author of women's fiction. I published my first collections,Encounters in Paris: A Collection of Short Stories last year. My new book,5 Reasons to Leave a Lover - A Novella and Other Short Stories, debuts in September. I am originally from Chicago and currently living in Switzerland. I am an avid reader. I will read almost any genre (both fiction and nonfiction) except erotica and most sci-fi. My favorite authors are constantly changing but right now the list would include James Baldwin, F.Scott Fitzgerald, Flannery O'Connor, Zadie Smith, Philipp Roth and James Updike.
I am constantly seeking out new books and authors and I welcome suggestions from the group!

Jon Sprunk | 17 comments Hello,

I want to thank Rick for inviting me to your group. I'm the author of Shadow's Son and Shadow's Lure from Pyr Books. I live in Pennsylvania with my family. Anything else you want to know about me, just ask.

message 3428: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (leeees) Thanks for the invite, sorry it has taken me a while to introduce myself. My name is Lisa. I love to read, it's a great escape. I WISH I could write but I'm not all that creative. Words don't flow all that well for me... I do envy/admire those who do.

I read various genres of literature, I like to dabble in the classics and I am loyal to some authors, reading everything they write because... well, I've read all the rest of their books! I've found myself purchasing more historical fiction and non-fiction lately. I also like to read books on topics that might be controversial or I don't know enough about so that I can see another perspective.

Thank you Rick for inviting me to join the group....like Lisa, I have tried many times to write a novel but it just doesn't seem to go over very well....I have wrote a couple of Childrens books that are not published, but my kids love them....

If you like controversial...try Call Sign: Wrecking Crew...least wise we (my co-author and I) think it could be considered controversial.
