Annie Rayburn (annie_rayburn) Thanks to Rick for the invitation. I'm both a reader and the author of 3 works found on Goodreads: Insight, Phantoms & Fantasies and Bittersweet Obsessions. So, if you like contemporary erotic romance, light paranormal or light sci-fi elements, that's what I write all rolled into one cross-genre read. :)

I'm looking forward to exploring the various discussions and learning about some great reads.

message 3114: by Mary (new)

Mary (marynovik) | 1 comments Hi Everybody!

As a member of this group (though a quiet one), I'd like to let everyone know that my historical novel Conceit has been chosen for an August group read in the Book Haven group. I'm hoping that some of you might like to join in the discussion. I'd love it if you'd read my novel and share your thoughts in the thread at: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/5...

To start things off, I'm running a contest in which I'm giving away a signed first edition of Conceit. To enter, all you have to do is to post a message in the thread telling everybody (1) the title of your favourite historical novel, (2) the name of the author, (3) what you like about the book in 2-3 sentences. Any kind of historical novel is ok, even books that are not traditional historicals.

Cheers,
Mary

Craig Machen (craig111) Hello, my name is Craig Machen and I am new friend of Rick's. I wrote this book: Still Life With Brass Pole. It's new, and also about me. I love books in general, though. My favorite authors are probably Fitzgerald, Steinbeck, Jack Kerouac, Hunter S. Thompson, John Kennedy Toole, Nick Hornby, I love The Old Man and the Sea (not so much the rest of Hemingway), Cameron Crowe, Dave Eggers, Keith Richards, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, oh, and I'm reading a book now that might become a favorite called Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. What else? Oh yes, I would like to invite you all to join my imaginary book group, The Martin Landau Community Book Club. Kidding!

I look forward to getting to know you all, and thanks so much for having me, Rick!

All the best,

LaVerne Clark (laverneclark) Thanks so much for the invite Rick! : ) What an awesome looking group. I can't wait to explore and meet a whole heap of new people.

I'm a New Zealander who writes Romantic Suspense set in our diverse but small country. My first novella was published late last year - Guardian of the Jewel

I love to read a huge variety of books in all genres, so am looking forward to hearing about some I may not have heard about otherwise through this group - Yay! How cool is that?!

See you guys around the discussions : )

message 3141: by Terry (new)

Terry Odell (terryodell) | 1 comments I'd like to thank Rick for the invitation to join this group. I write what the industry labels "romantic suspense" although many of mine are closer to action-adventure or "mysteries with relationships." I have 3 books in my Blackthorne, Inc. series featuring a high-end private security company with a covert side (which is where my characters hang out.)
Find out more about me at my website, which includes first-chapter reads of all my novels)

As for reading-- I love mysteries, with too many favorites to mention. I tend toward series and am compulsive about reading them all ... the Kellermans, Michael Connelly, Robert Crais, Lee Child are only a few.

In the romantic suspense genre, I love Suzanne Brockmann, Allison Brennan, Linda Castillo, JD Robb -- and that list goes on as well.

Terry

Randolph Lalonde Like so many others, I have Rick to thank for the invitation to this forum. I primarily write science fiction and dabble in horror, fantasy and whatever else strikes when the muse descends.

Any given day I have three books on the go: one for research, one for fun and another non-fiction or developmental title. Right now I'm reading the Matrix Screenplay because I'm refreshing my screenplay formatting skills, The Witch's Hammer (translated to English), Under the Banner of Heaven and The Last Colony. (I guess it's 4 books this week).

If anyone is interested in checking out my work in science fiction (space opera sub-genre), you can find what you need at www.randolphlalonde.com

There is also a Goodreads forum / support group for my Spinward Fringe series here: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/4...

Cheers!

Hi, from the link you can see who I am and what books I've published so far. I'm an novelist and poet. There's a list of my unpublished novels on the Novels page of my website. The full text of my previously published poems are also on the website, free to read.

I like to think I always write literary fiction in my novels, but some of them are masquerading as thrillers.

I'm impressed with the richness and diversity of the discussion threads of this Group and look forward to taking part.
