K.A. Tucker (katucker) Hello all and thanks for the invite, Rick! This looks like a fab community. I'm a new Canadian author and have just published my first novel in June. It's the first in a YA Paranormal Romance/Fantasy series, called Anathema. I love meeting fellow authors and readers and I stalk Goodreads so hopefully I'll connect with many of you over time!

Melki I'm not sure I want to thank you for the invitation, Rick. (I knew you had an ulterior motive for friending me, you sly devil!) I already belong to 9 groups, and I actively participate in all. Basically, you just can't shut me up! But - this group looks too good to miss, so -you're stuck with me now.
I just can't get over the abundance of good things Goodreads has to offer. How bout a round of applause for this site? I've been looking for something like it for years.
It seems silly to retype all my intro information. If you're interested, here is my profile page:

http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/52...

It's hard to believe that just a few years ago, I dismissed the internet as nothing more than a chat room for pedophiles. Now I spend an embarassing amount of time looking at pictures of hippos and spilling my guts to virtual strangers. Sigh...and I really should be reading, shouldn't I?
So, here's a grudging thanks to you Rick. But, I'm telling you, you'll probably soon be sick of hearing from me! Don't say I didn't warn ya, buddy!

My favorite genre is mystery/thriller/true crime, but I like popular fiction, fantasy and limited scifi (as recommended by my husband). I have enjoyed returning to reading, as it has been a love since I was little.

✿Sandra This isn't an introduction, but I thought it would be a good place to let everyone know about this, if they don't already:

Site Announcement: Read for a Good Cause with Goodreads Book Club

Here is our pledge: We are donating 1,000 books to kids in need for every 10,000 Goodreads members who add A Visit from the Goon Squad to their shelves. As of today, there are already more than 25,000 who have read or plan to read Jennifer Egan's evocative Pulitzer-winning novel, so we have already promised 2,000 books! Help us reach the next campaign benchmark by adding the book and inviting your friends to join the Goodreads Book Club.

If you want to know more, you can click on The Goodreads Book Club for A Visit From the Goon Squad on the home page. If you haven't added it to your shelves yet, now would be a good time, so some children in need can have books donated to them. :)

Lynne Marie | 8 comments Hi. This is Lynne Marie and I want to thank Rick for inviting me to become a member of the group. I am an indy author and my first novel is The Seahawk's Sanctuary. It was released in February 2011 on Smashwords and in April on Amazon. It is an historical fiction novel that takes place just before the revolutionary war on the high seas, in colonial Charleston, and on a Carolina rice plantation. As an amateur historian, I tried to stay true to the history. Things are going pretty well so far, except I did not realize that there would be so much marketing involved! I sometimes feel like the coyote chasing after the roadrunner. But I'm hanging in there and hope to have my web page, lynnemarieauthor.com up and going soon.
