Stuart Jaffe | 18 comments Hey all! I'm Stuart Jaffe, an author, blogger, and podcaster. My ebook short story collection, 10 Bits of My Brain, is now out (though "officially" not until the 29th, but you can get it now!). I blog for Magical Words -- one of the top fantasy writing blogs, and I'm co-host of The Eclectic Review podcast.

But above all, I love books! So I'm looking forward to discovering some wonderful reads through this group. Thanks to Rick for inviting me to join.

J.A. Belfield (jabelfield) Howdy, all. My name's J. A. Belfield, and I'm from Solihull in the UK. I'm here thanks to an invite from Rick, and thought I'd mosey on over and see what you're all about.
Although I read quite a lot, I'm a writer first and foremost. Whilst my reading preferences span from J.K.Rowling, to Val MacDermid, to Rachel Vincent, to Martina Cole, to Jeffrey Deaver (yeah, defintitely no pattern to my tastes), my writing preference is for paranormal romance or urban fantasy. My first novel, Darkness & Light (A Holloway Pack Story, #1) by J.A. Belfield is due its official release on July 1st (so less than a week for me to squeal out my delight to anyone who'll listen).
It's getting late here, now, so I'll take a closer look at what's happening in the group over the next few days. Nice to meet you all, and thanks for having me.

Deb (soulhaven) | 9 comments Hi everybody and thanks to Rick for the invite. I am a long-time reader and recently re-discovered author. My first novel will be ready for editing by mid-August (that's my goal!) - you can follow my progress at: http://deberelene.wordpress.com. If you feel like it, you could also help me by a computer that will make it easier for me to do an illustrated version: http://www.doyourthing.co.nz/2011-011...

I look forward to joining in various discussions with this group - although I admit to completely sucking at picking my favourite of anything - I haven't read everything!

Katherine Archer | 1 comments Hello Everyone,

I'm Katherine Archer, and I want to thank Rick for the invitation to this group! I'm a writer and former English teacher, and I enjoy writing women's fiction, humor, and horror.

My first published book is called, "The Hat Lady in Drag: The Journals of Janet Kent." Although the novel's classified as a romance, it's unconventional for the genre. The contemporary characters are older and wiser, and they deal with difficult issues in life while bonding together in friendship and/or love.

I look forward to participating in the group!

-Katherine

We also do book reviews and articles for Suspense Magazine. I love thrillers, mysteries, fantasies, paranormal and romance...or any mixture of these!

Annie Baker (anniebaker78) Thanks for the invitation! I am a mother of a beautiful and gifted daughter and wife of a wonderful and thoughtful husband. I have a degree in psychology and certification in Special Education grades K through 12, but am unable to work because I have systemic lupus. I have always been a voracious reader. In primary school I read the entire library and the governor of the state of Georgia came to meet me and gave the school a grant to expand their library! There are few things I enjoy more than reading, but I also enjoy photography and exploring nature with the children in our family. I love my dogs and ferrets. My favorite genre to read is historical fiction but I enjoy books from almost every genre except romance novels. I look forward to interacting with this group! I think it will make my membership on Goodreads much more interesting.

Penelope Marzec (penelopemarzec) | 5 comments Thanks for the invitation! I like variety when I'm reading and it looks like you've got that here.

I am also an author and have ten books currently available. Four of my books are inspirational romances, two are historical paranormal romances, two are contemporary paranormal romances, and the other two are based on Irish legends but set in modern times--and are also romances.

I like happy endings.

I'm looking forward to some lively discussions.

Penelope

Justin Difazzio (viewtiful_justin) | 2 comments Ahoy-hoy! It's great to be getting established on Goodreads. It's rekindled my obsessive book managing spirit. I think it'd be easier to tell you what I don't read than what I do, but let me try.

I grew up on Harriet the Spy and learned to love crappy Sci-fi in high school. In college I discovered a love for Russian lit. Just recently I uncovered a thirst for Vonnegut--what a great writer! I'm currently working my way through all the back editions of Best American Short Stories and Best American NonRequired Reading that I own. It's only 4 years' worth! Then? Hopefully some good recommendations!

message 2987: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Saxsma | 3 comments Hi everybody!

I just joined Goodreads a little over a month ago. I just released my first novel, Redial, a horror story.

I love reading horror, supernatural, and of course the non-technical sci-fi. I'm sorry to whom this may offend, but I love everything Stephen King. There is not one of his novels that I haven't found something I liked in it. There's just a way his words hit my brain in just the right way, but I will admit his prose can be a bit sluggish, but not the worst that I've seen.

I enjoy reading, writing, and not arithmetic. I also love to paint and sketch, but I also love playing video games. Though, I've found, the older I get, the less I get to play :(,

I'm happy to be a new member of this book club, and hope to be able to delve in as deep in discussions as I'm allowed.

Thanks!

Terri Lynn (terrilynnmerritts) | 13 comments Hi everyone. I am so glad to be here and want to thank Rick for the invitation. I was born to bookworm parents who owned a bookstore and got me my first library card when I was 2 years old. There were always books and magazines around the house and I was allowed to read whatever I wanted from the bookstore and library. My husband and I and our teenaged daughter (she has been homeschooled all of her life) are book crazy and have literally thousands of books in our house. We read all sorts of fiction and nonfiction and I even enjoy good children's and young adult books. A good book is a good book, regardless of who it was written for. I am delighted to be among my fellow book lovers and welcome any of you to send me a friends request.
