well- I receive many friend requests- and invite through replies-also word of mouth seems to be quite effective-(Yet with about 33,000 goodreads Groups- it's easy to get lost in the crowd- thats why word of mouth is so important) but love to have our fellow members feel that this is their Group (Community)as much as mine and understand that they are just as welcome to invite friends, ect as me!

Arshad Ahsanuddin (pactarcanum) Thanks, Rick, for the invitation. I hope I will be able to make a meaningful contribution to your group.

Hello, all.

My name is Arshad Ahsanuddin, and I am a Goodreads Author of two self-published fantasy/science fiction novels called Sunset: Pact Arcanum: Book One and Sunrise: Pact Arcanum: Book Two. More information about myself and my work can be found on my Goodreads profile or at my website: http://pactarcanum.com

The plot of the first book is based on one simple question: If there were vampires and vampire slayers in the world, killing each other in the shadows without anyone being the wiser, what would happen if they were caught on camera during a nationwide TV broadcast? The major subplot of the book is the main character's thorny love life (The main character and many of the principal cast are gay men.) and resolves whom he finally ends up with. The romance level of the books would be considered "sweet," with no explicit sex scenes.

Any feedback is welcome, if it will help me become a better writer.

Respectfully,
Arshad Ahsanuddin

jb Byrkit (jbbyrkit) Thanks for the invite. Name is jennbunny...I live in Florida....and currently I work full time and attend college (in hopes to become a marine biologist)....and help the environment. I LOVE sea turtles and hope to work with them some day.

I am addicted to books...I now own a nook as well (twice as many books). I read a lot of different kids of books....I love horror books and vampire books (NOT sparkly)....non fiction and fiction. Television is a bit of a bore to me....as a matter of fact until a month ago I did not even have cable. I watch netflix to get my fix (with NO commercials). Funnily enough documentaries are my favorite thing to watch along with weird medical/alien shows.

Chocolate is the main staple of my diet....I could not live without it along with tequila.

I am in the middle of books right now....trying to decide what to read next....such a decision. I think I will pick up one of my horror books today....

message 2718: by Bruce (new)

Bruce (bruceboston) | 2 comments I'm the author of 47 books and chapbooks. My most popular book is the dystopian novel The Guardener's Tale, which was a Bram Stoker Award Finalist and a Prometheus Award Nominee. Until recently, the book has only been available used in the out-of-print signed, limited edition, at inflated prices. A regular trade paper edition finally appeared in February, priced at $15.95 online from Amazon and Barnes & Noble. However, you can order signed copies directly from me, by check or PayPal, for $12.95 and free shipping. Both relevant addresses below.

If you prefer an ebook, the novel is also available as a Nookbook at Barnes & Noble, and a Kindle and several other formats at Smashwords -- http://www.smashwords.com/ -- for $6.45.

If you do read the novel, comments are always welcome. For more info about me and my other books, check out my website, address also below. If you are ever inclined to buy any of my print books, contact me first. I can almost always provide a better price on new copies than anywhere online.

Thanks to Rick for asking me to join the group. I look forward to reading and participating in the discussions.

Best,

--Bruce

Jeanine (truejourney) Hi, everyone! My name is Jeanine. I love to read (maybe a little too much). I am happy to be apart of this group. I am looking to expand my horizons, maybe read something that does not consist of vampires, faeries, angels, and the like :) Although, I have an extremely hard time losing myself in a novel that doesn't have fantasy, mystery, romance, and some horror.

Damon (goodreadscomdamon_dimarco) | 4 comments Many thanks to Rick for the invitation.

My eight non-fiction book comes out this December. Seventh was just released in March with a foreword by His Holiness the Dalai Lama (it's about China and the Tiananmen Square movement of 1989). I've also written plays, screenplays, and television pilots. The obligatory website disclosure: www.damondimarco.com.

Reading: I throw the net wide. Just finished an old American classic, Frank Norris' McTeague. Before that Larry McMurtry, Tom Robbins, Elmore Leonard, John Irving, Michael Chabon, Hemingway, Lawrence Block, Josh Bazell (he's new and I like him), a sci fi compilation, like I said, I throw the net wide.

It's nice to be part of a group of such avid readers. Thanks for that.

Best,
Damon

Scott Fuchs Hiya Rick

Thanx for the Welcome.
Mischa Auer? Surely u jest! No? OMG, all I can remember seeing him in was "U Can't Take With U", as Ann Millers 'artistic' ballet teacher.
I do know that he was very active in movies through the 30s and 40s, but no specifics come to mind. I also recall from my yute, his appearing on TV dramtaic shows such as Playhouse 90.

And....... I did neglect yesterday, to mention James Mason; as fine as they ever came, none greater! [OK, maybe Olivier]
What're your fave Mason Roles?

message 2749: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello everyone!

My name is Elizabeth. I am an avid reader although I don't have to time to read as much as I'd like to. My toddler takes up a great deal of my time, as does studying for and preparing to take the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) exam.

I don't have a favorite genre. I'll read just about anything to catches my eye. My TBR list is staggering and I seem to acquire more books everyday. Along with reading I also enjoy writing. I have one poem published, as well as a number of short stories that I've written that have not been published. My dream is to one day publish a novel.

I look forward to investigating and getting involved with this group. Not to mention getting to know some of the people.

Happy Reading to you all!
