Timothy Pilgrim (oldgeezer) | 145 comments Hi Rick, Carmel and everyone else, I hope you have enjoyed the [relative] peace over the last week, my humming box had a hissey fit last week end, but it seems to be alright now. I've no idea what was wrong, it wouldn't let me read emails for some reason, everything else fine, just my incoming emails, the wife's were fine, wretched contraption! Still at least I got a bit of work done on the follow up to 'The Day the Ravens Died'
All the best Paul Rix [oldgeezer]

Timothy Pilgrim (oldgeezer) | 145 comments Hi Carmel,
The only thing it gave up on was the incoming emails, it would tell me how many I'd got coming in, just wouldn't let me open them!! grrr!
I've no more idea why it is now behaveing than why it had the hissy fit in the first place! and I've just noticed my spell check icon has gone awol!

MEMBER AUTHORS - PLEASE DO ADVISE A FELLOW MEMBER WITH ANSWER THE FOLLOWING E-BOOK QUESTION.

Hi Rick,
We haven't actually spoken before and I am new to the James Mason Community Book Club.I was wondering if you could help me with some information. I am not a Ereader person. But I have recently been formatting my titles for Ebooks. Most likely with Kindle.
To get to the point and question. If I send someone a PDF copy of my titles will they be able to open them on their Ereaders? Is there a different or better way for me to do this?

Thank you for time,

Dale Reierson

Nicholas Does anyone here have any luck with the goodreads self advertising? I have been up and running for about a week with little click through? Advice please!!

I have an ebook ready and available for download here exclusive until the distributor makes it available on all ereader formats and I was just testing my market a bit here on goodreads, but haven't had much luck.

Norm (normcowie) | 13 comments Hi, this is a vibrant group, isn't it? Glad to be a part.

I have five books, two humor urban/fantasy in The Adventures of Guy series (award winning!), two YA humor/vampire/werewolf books (Fang Face & WereWoof), plus a non-fiction humor book.

I've been exploring the ebook craze and as my rights to my earlier books revert back to me from my publisher I'm releasing them myself. So I have three books at 99 cents now on Kindle. As soon as I educate myself, I'll get them onto Nook.

Charles Blanchard | 28 comments Hello to all members. My name is Charles and I live in Westchester County, a suburb of New York. I have always been an avid reader and collector of books, primarily fiction. It seems that I spend most of my time either reading, writing or seeing films either in a theater or on TCM. It's always fun to take the train into the city, New York City and experience a film with a New York audience. I prefer the older films as they are the best. Although there are some really good independent films out now. 2010 marked a change in my life with the publication of my debut novel, Mourning Doves After The Fire. Feel free to check out the book page. I look forward to getting to know many of you. http://www.mourningdovesafterthefire.com

Emily (emilywyatt) Thanks for the invitation to join. I love to read and it appears that everyone here loves reading too.

I read an eclectic range of books. I love mystery and suspense. I enjoy modern literature. I read Classics, especially British literature. Austen and Dickens are my favorites.

I recently re-read Jane Eyre and was pleasantly surprised. It truly is a great story.

message 2544: by Martha (new)

Martha (marthas48) Welcome to all the new members!

Harry, I married a soldier & have lived in Germany, Colorado and settled in central Illinois when he retired from the Army. I hate the cold winters & the last few have just about done me in. I thought marrying a Yankee & moving north would mean no hot, humid summers. No such luck!! I get that (though not as bad as Louisiana) along with the snow, ice, freezing temps ... what fun!

Emily, I just reread Pride & Prejudice and Jane Eyre. Such great books!!

message 2545: by Harry (new)

Harry Jr. (hgillelandgmailcom) | 5 comments Martha, when I moved to London, Ontario back in 1973-75, I expected the frigid winters, but the summers surprised me. I expected temperatures to stay in the 70s to low 80s, but in July & August we had temperatures in the 90s. To make it worse, homes, including our townhouse apartment, lacked air conditioning. "Not worth paying for AC when we have only a few weeks of hot temperatures each summer." We had to sleep in the basement with fans blowing on us to try to sleep in the heat. At least everything in the South is air conditioned!

message 2546: by Annie (new)

Annie (annie0212) | 5 comments Thank you so much for the warm welcome. ^^

Martha, I'm curious. Where in Germany did you live?

message 2547: by Martha (new)

Martha (marthas48) Germany was that way. The stores were a smelly nightmare in summer. Whew! The summer of 76 was unusually hot ... It was late May (about 2 wks before my 2nd baby was born & I laid down to take a nap. Couldn't sleep b/c I was so hot, got up to check the temperature & it was 110 at 6pm. No AC, of course, but you don't need it there! HA

Annie, we were in Giessen from 74-77. My first 2 sons were born there ... well, in Frankfurt.

message 2548: by Annie (new)

Annie (annie0212) | 5 comments Oh yeah. I know Giessen. :) Did you like it? Apart from the heat of course. *laugh* We usually don't have AC in the houses and sometimes in summer I wish we had. But at least we have them in the shops now. ^^

message 2549: by Martha (new)

Martha (marthas48) I did like it. What I didn't like was life as an Army wife. The country is beautiful & that heat was really unusual that summer. I'm not familiar with your town.

message 2550: by Annie (new)

Annie (annie0212) | 5 comments Yeah I suppose that's not always fun. But the area around Frankfurt is really nice.
My town is not that big. Do you know Cologne? It's somewhere near there. ^^ We have a NATO Air Base near by. One wife told me a few weeks ago that everytime she learned the language they have to move. I suppose you had to move a lot as well.
