PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO YOUR FELLOW JAMES MASON MEMBERS!
Hello All. I am a lifelong bookworm, and have recently been given my dream job - I market books for a new type of publisher in Seattle called Booktrope (www.booktrope.com). That being said, I will obviously be chiming in with recommendations for those that we publish, but I promise to be open about which books those are and will do my best to only do so when it contributes to the discussion at hand. I do want to point out what is unique about what we do - we offer all our books to read for free on our website. Of course, you can also purchase copies in ebook, or print format via Amazon or Barnes and Noble. But, we believe that reading books sells more books overall, hence our free books online policy. I like to say we are "format agnostic". We frequently do giveaways here on Goodreads (currently we are running one for "Sweet Song by Terry Persun). As I said, I am also an avid reader, so look forward to participating in that capacity as well. You are welcome to ask me publishing type questions, if I can, I will happily answer them.
Nice to meet you all!

Hi, I'm Ian.This is my introduction to the Big Time.
Interests
Interests, I've had a few. And if you don't like them, I have others.
My non-literary interests are pretty diverse, but they start with music, film, humour, art, music, film, repetition.
Oh, and timing.
Why the Stupid Name?
Graye isn't really the correct spelling of my surname.
I have added a letter, I bet you can't guess which.
The story of this name is in my profile.
I'm Here for Fun, Seriously
I take a lot of things seriously, but I also love to have fun as well.
The problem is, when I try to be serious, people say, "Funny you should say that."
And when I try to be funny, they say, "You can't be serious!"
Good Things
I love good sentences, and inspired by Paul Bryant, I am commenting on ones I like on my writings pages.
I've just started a good phrase chapter as well.
I've called it "Just a Phrase I'm Going Through" (if that doesn't sound too much like the name of a JJasper FForde Novel).
I look forward to having some serious fun in this Group.
Hello, Thanks so much for the invitation. I love historical fiction and YA. When the two are combined...Nirvana... I am one of those horrifying "aspiring authors" as well. I've completed my first manuscript, which is currently a quarter-finalist in the 2011Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award.
But, haven't had any luck with querying yet. Fingers crossed.
I'm starting my newest, and the best thing about writing, is you get to read, read, read. Some of my fave authors are Diana Gabaldon, Susanne Collins, Sharon Kay Penman, Carrie Ryan--kind of a strange mix, huh?
If you want to see my entry in the ABNA, and comment on the excerpt, here is the link. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004TEYH98
Can't wait to meet all of you. Have a wonderful weekend!
Welcome all new group members!Hello everyone! I just wanted to invite you to join me on my radio show. It is called Kerra's Weekly Book Club.
For the next two Friday's I am going to be discussing the book "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and would love to hear some or your opinions about the book, or questions.
You can go to www.angelsandwarriors.com, click on the little section that says listen to angels and warriors on blog talk radio and that should take you to the page of the up coming events. Then you would click on the title Kerra's Weekly Book Club and it will take you to my show.
This show is for discussing books of all kinds, book topics from how do you organize your books, to do you feel guilty for buying to many. Also I am going to start a voting system soon, so that my listeners and people that are interested in Buddy reads can make suggestions about the next book or books that we discuss or read as a group. More details will be added later.
Also if you would like to call in and listen to the show through your phone you can call 1 (949)534-0604. Also when you call this number and automated voice will come on welcome you to the show and let you know that if at any time you would like to be on air with a comment on the book or topic or have a question then to press the 1 button on your phone at any time. If and when you push the 1 button I will be notified that you would like to be brought on air. If you just want to listen to the show and not be brought on air then you don't have to push any buttons and you will just get to listen to the show live.
Also you can go to www.angelsandwarriors.org to check out all of the angels and warriors up coming events and all the other neat shows we have.
I actually had my first show today and if you are interested or curious about it you can go to the .com site listed above, click on the listen to angels and warriors blogtalkradio and it will take you to angels and warriors radio page. My show is saved on the little blog talk radio page next to Dawns picture. All you have to do is push the little play button and you will be able to listen to today's show.
I am very excited about this and hope to hear from a few of you. If you are interested or have more questions you can contact me on GR or e-mail on the angels and warriors site.
Thanks!!
Hi I am Jennifer, and I am glad for the invitation. I read all genres, but I am currently stuck reading young adult since my daughter has recently developed a love of reading. I can't afford for both of us to read 2-3 books a week so until I get myself to the library, I will continue to read what she does :) I received a Kindle for Christmas and have already read 38 books. Again, many have been YA but there have been quite a few that were really good. I loved the Hunger Games, and The Maze Runner. My favorite adult books I read this year have been The Passage, A Dirty Job, and Water for Elephants.

Welcome to our new group members. Kerra, your Weekly Book Club sounds interesting. If only there were a few more hours in a day. *smile*
I'm retired, living in Chicago, and have turned my life over to my muse. Right now, however, it's a bit quiet. Just finished publishing my latest novel and I'm on a downward slide from heaven.
Peace and joy.

So please keep me in mind.Talk to you guys later,

Hi everyone, and thanks to Rick for the invite. I read a little bit of most things, but mostly contemporary mainstream fiction. I'm an author with her debut novel. The TAKER, coming out--14 April in the UK, 6 September in the US. It's been compared to "Interview with the Vampire" and "The Historian" but without the vampires (quite a trick, that.) It's historical with a supernatural element;really, it's a great big gothic love story. You can read more about it at my website, http://www.almakatsu.com and see a video interview on YouTube (search on 'alma katsu taker')
I love to talk about writing and to hear about great books that I would otherwise miss, so please keep the suggestions coming.
Looking forward to getting you know you all,
Alma

Hey everyone. You guys can call me A or QuotetheRaven I don't mind either way. I'm into Paranormal/romance, mystery, and thriller books mostly but I will read just about Anything. I am always on the look out for new books so I love suggestions. I'll read anything from comic books to history books. I love drawing, watching crime shows and love curling up in bed with my two huskies and a good book. I don't really know what my dream career would be but I would love to be an author. In this economy though I'm trying to find a more financially uplifting career/calling.Thank you so much Rick for inviting me. :)

Dear Rick,Thanks for your kind invitation to a most impressive group. I look forward to the insights I'll garner.
Since the recent publication of LOVE WILL FOLLOW I have enjoyed all the schizophrenic hopes and fears of first-time authors. Now I need to channel all that energy into the half dozen other stories that are just about ready to launch.
But I think LOVE WILL FOLLOW will always have a special place in my heart because it was my first. Kittie is one of the resilient women who began with nothing, experienced little other than brutality at the hands of those who were supposed to be "family", and still managed to recognize and open herself to love when it finally found her.
The joy of a warm and sheltering family experience is becoming more and more rare in our culture. My stories seem to always encompass family found in one way or another. Family can be biological, accidental, or purposefully gathered. And its presence or absence can change our lives.
So that's what I wish for all your readers...the joy that comes from the shelter of each other.

Hi everyone, I've just joined the group. I mainly write non-fiction but my first novel has recently been released: Hedgeland, an urban fantasy of time travel. Dr April Neuland, a Professor of Ancient Languages turned non-fiction writer, has been plagued by dreams all her life, dreams of her past life in the Otherworld. Meanwhile, in a parallel dimension of April's past and Caridwen's future, Worthing, a Future History Professor, has allied with the Military to access Future Internet communications and use new technology to influence April to write an ebook novel revealing where she, in her past life as Caridwen, hid the Kiste, a device to travel through time and space. Hedgeland weaves all three time/space frames: Caridwen, Worthing, and April. Hedgeland is the first in the Hedgecraft Sequence, but is a fully self contained novel with no cliff hangers.Ann

Lol, yes I know Dawn :D I just got off the phone with her a few hours ago. That is great that you are going to be on her show I will definately have to listen! Thank you for being so excited and interested :) Hope you do listen.
Hello all, thanks for inviting me to the group.I have loved reading and books all my life. I am a fast reader so I like BIG books! No really, I like any well-written book.
My preference is for suspense, mystery, historical or biographical books, classics.. in fact it's easier to say what I don't like. I'm not too keen on horror stories and I don't read romances. I like something I can get my teeth into (except Vampire novels!!).
I live in Spain so books in English are sometimes hard to find, luckily I have no problem reading in Spanish and this has enabled me to discover some great authors whose language is not English.
I look forward to contributing to the discussions in the group and getting to know you all.
Hello Everyone. Thanks for the invite Rick. It is always an honor to share thoughts with great minds. I am Cody Toye and the Author of two Y.A. books and a Digital short story series. The Adventures of Zorza the AlienI find myself craving the most unique books from any genre. I am always thrilled to recieve new recommendations!

Emily Hill introduced me to the group. I've been working with her to publish three books on my back list. One of these is a memoir; "Animals Don't Blush" that describes adventures from my first year in veterinary practice in northeast Montana and northwest North Dakota in 1960-61. I have posted an excerpt from the book on my Goodreads page.

OMyGoodness James follows me around! Yes, my name is Pamela Mason. If you're familiar with her, you know she was an actress and frequent guest on the Jack Parr show, and the first woman to win a million dollar divorce settlement from James.
I love to read AND write AND connect with other readers and writers. I just started a blog, writermason.blogspot.com, and I am writing a fantasy romance or a YA paranormal... it changes week to week with the crits.
I hope to get to know all of you and to discuss some YA and paranormals and romances and womens' lit.
Come say hello and give me some recommendations!
Thanks!
Hey everyone! My name is Jennifer Rainey, and I'm the author of a book called These Hellish Happenings. I'm super excited to be here; I've had some trouble finding a good reading/writing group on GR, but this place looks awesome! My website is www.jenniferrainey.com, if you want to check me out. Nice to meet you all, and I look forward to posting here! :)
Hey everyone! :) First of all thanks for the invitation, Rick. I'm looking forward to to meet all of you. I've been a big book lover since I'm able to read. Books are like breathing for me and I can't go anywhere without one. I love history so I love reading historical fiction and history non-fiction books but I also love fantasy, crime novels and YA-books. I don't like horror stories but apart from that I'm willing to give every book a chance. :)
I'm looking forward to some great discussions.

I enjoy reading books of all genres but my favorites are mysteries and what I call "southern literature."
I'm also a writer. I currently have two books that are published: Consequences and Bearing False Witness. The latter is the first book in the Alec Stover Mystery series. The second book will be out later this spring. The third book in the series will be out in the fall. The Alec Stover mysteries are novellas that are being released individually as ebooks. I plan to publish a collection of the first three books in print, as well.
This looks like a fun group. I'm sure I'll enjoy the discussions.
