K.D. Sarge (kdsarge) | 1 comments Hi, all! Thanks for the invite, Rick!

I'm KD. I write character-driven sci-fi, fantasy, and other stuff. My book Knight Errant is here on Goodreads.

I read anything I can get my hands on, though fun stories with great characters are my preference. I also read a lot of nonfiction to keep my stories fueled by reality.

Looking forward to hanging out with you all!

message 2404: by Don (new)

Don Ariff (arkenseal) Thanks for the group invite Rick! And Hi everyone XD... The name's Don and I'm a huge thriller fan and never one for chic-lits or romance novels.

Currently majoring in psychology and I'm such a psych freak. So therefore I'd prefer this 'thriller' novels to be quite psychological based.

Pleased to be here in the group and if anyone has any questions at all, please do not hesitate ok :)

Sonia Meyer (someyericloudcom) | 12 comments Hi everybody,
Great group to join. I am the author of the historical novel, "Dosha, flight of the Russian Gypsies". A longtime activist and scholar of Europe's most misunderstood and persecuted minority, persecuted once again as I write this. I am a world traveler, horse-breeder and, of course, passionate reader. Check me out on http://soniameyer.com and let's talk about the writers we love most.

Johnny Flora (johnnyflora) | 8 comments My name is [ Jersey } Johnny Flora. I would like to thank Rick for the invitation. I will also extend this invite to my daughter Gabrielle who is an avid coolector and reader of all genres of literature. My nickname [Jersey} is for my musical career. I have been a professional entertainer and independent recording artist for twenty years. My original compositions can be heard for free on a great web-site called Reverbnation, I will include a link. My recent novel entitled "The Spell of Zalanon" has been published and there are a few free copies available in the goodreads giveaway section. I will try to make a few more copies available. My next novel entitled "Wake Co." is currently in copy-edit and I am very excited about its release. I categorize both as "Catyclysmic Chaos". I am currently reading "20 Master Plots and how to build them" by Ronald Tobias. This is a highly recommended tool for aspiring writers, and Street wise Italian by Nicholas Albanese, since I'm trying to get a better grip on the language of the Italian street culture. I recently finished "Creating Unforgettable Characters" by Linda Seger, which also supports your efforts to write correctly. I am excited and honored to be invited into this group and will do what I can to promote it. Ciao Johnny Flora

Howard Loring (howardloringgoodreadscom) | 284 comments My pen name is Howard Loring & I self-published a book.

Not a writer per se, but a creative person who was seeking another media, I was well read & had acted for 30 years & this gave me a good grasp of dialogue & timing.

I joined your group because I like James Mason and books of all kinds.

I live in the middle of nowhere but not very far from a small town with a big university, so there's lots of stimulation around and accessable.

I had written copy in another life but never a book.

At the time none of my other creative venues were satisfing so I composed and honed what I thought was the most bizarre thing ever written.

I still think so.

Not being trained I learned after the fact that the old adage is true: you write what you know.

In social settings, among friends I often in good humor put someone in their place employing James Mason's nasal tone & inflection.

No one did it better: his timing was second to none.

I was pleased to see his picture & find a group in his name.

Hi, I'm Gary Lombardo. I've loved words, books, and ideas all of my life. I wrote my first novel at twelve. For ten years I was a licensed psychologist, and performed individual, marital, and family therapy. In 2005 I was saved by the Lord Jesus, and my character has undergone a remarkable transformation. Since then I’ve sought to do God’s will—not my own will. My Friend Jesus is my first Christian novel. I live in New Jersey with my cat Davy.

James, I wonder if you can tell us a few of your favorite poets? I seem to be lost, and rarely find a poet I can understand. Except Billy Collins and Stanley Kunitz. Though I did just read Dien Cai Dau for the first time and my hair is still standing on end!

Sonia Meyer (someyericloudcom) | 12 comments Yesterday I tried to prevent the eviction by a cold-hearted bureaucracy of a one-of-a-kind Gypsy/Roma church in Florida. Prejudice against the Gypsies is killing them as I write this, in Europe. To prevent further injustice I wrote a novel with a mission.
Enjoy Gypsy nomadic life, get to know the people behind the prejudice, through what many consider a great read.
"Dosha, flight of the Russian Gypsies" http://www.soniameyer.com/
Help me stop the ancient persecution of the Gypsy people.

Sonia Meyer (someyericloudcom) | 12 comments Dear friends, I am truly grateful for your responses. The Ft.Lauderdale church was just the tip of a gigantic iceberg that refuses to melt. The church, the building, is lost. My Gypsy friends and I will find a different building.I am waiting to hear from the Associated Press to write an article, in which case maybe all of you could chime in.
What is really horrendous is the deadly persecutions all across Europe that are going unreported. It is prejudice once again turned deadly. Raising awareness is vital, that's why my novel is of vital importance. Art succeeds sometimes where all else fails. I will keep you posted.
