Looking forward to reading it. Immigrant children do so well in the US. My daughters are first generation, born here with the zeal and enthusiasm of the future we came here for, accomplished.
I am not surprised, just thrilled for you and cannot wait to find out what you did. I am very excited for you.

Greetings,As a new member to the group please allow me to introduce myself. I am an avid reader of historical fiction, a life-long World War Two history buff, and the author of two historical novels set in WW2 (NIGHT OF FLAMES & THE KATYN ORDER). I also write a monthly column titled POLAND FIGHTS which is published in two Polish-American newspapers. I am particularly interested in all discussions relating to historical fiction and non-fiction books from this time period. I look forward to being an active participant in your discussions.

It's a challenge writing historical fiction in a time period many of your readers have lived through. I wrote about the gay male scene in NYC from 1965-1985, having come out there in 1975/1976. I always surprise myself when I'm editing something and realize I got an important detail wrong (like the direction that street runs) because I depended on memory. I lived one block over, and write the name of the street I had lived on instead of the main drag. DUH!
I try to avoid gross anachronisms, since I find similar disparities jarring as a reader - even if i is a detail known only to fellow New Yorkers (hey, there are 8 million of us).
On the other hand, a reader of an earlier version of the same story wondered why he couldn't remember my fictional bar. I'd made it so realistic that it seemed like a real place. although it was a mixture of real places with a fake name.
Hello. My name is Karl. I'm a novelist, and new not only to this group, but to participation in on-line group discussions. I love aviation-related literature. Mix a handful of well-developed characters and a page-turning plot together with some airplanes, and that's just about as satisfying to me as can be. So it's natural that my book is about airplanes (and the women who flew them). WINGS: A NOVEL OF WW II FLYGIRLS, is being released April 1.

Hello Karl, welcome to our group. Interesting subject you write about.
Hello, to you, too. Thank you. It's not the same-ol'. There's such a rich supply of material out there. I wish more writers would mine it. Maybe the problem is that most writers don't know much about aviation.
FLYGIRLS is a piece of historical fiction that tells the tale of the last class of Women Airforce Service Pilots during WW II. The planes, the women, are one integral unit.
Karl that sounds great. I hope it does well for you. When did you get it published?
Congratulations Karl. That is wonderful.
Hi gang. Just joined so thought I'd introduce myself before exploring the club site. I'm Ramona from FL where our day time temps are in the 80's. We had an unusually cold couple months so I'm happy we're back to normal. I'm a retired teacher (taught students with special needs) so I now have time to "read for me!." :) Married for 35 years--hubby just got me a Nook Color for Valentine's Day & I'm looking forward to reading on it, but will continue to read regular books as well. Looking forward to meeting a few new friends here who love to read books.

Hi. I have not read Nance, though I am aware of him. I know he has a strong following.
Hey everyone! My name's Kim. I'm an English teacher, and I live in NW PA at the moment, but I was just (as in yesterday) interviewed in a town near Phoenix, AZ for a position as an 8th grade Language Arts teacher, and I was hired! So, I will soon be making my way to Arizona from PA to live and teach!I recently started a book blog as part of my New Years Resolution. I've never kept track of the books I've read, or what they are about, so I decided to start a blog where I kept track of what I read throughout the year, and also gave myself a little review in order to remember what it was about. I meant to update it as I read new books, but I started to go back through books I've read and liked over the years and review them as well. So, the blog is new...but I'm working on it!

I'm excited to be a part of this group!
Welcome Kimberly. Congratulations on the new position. You should love AZ. There is a special charm to the West. Welcome.
